Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) called on J.P. Morgan Chase CEO James Dimon on Wednesday to adopt what she called responsible lending policies when it comes to the gun industry.
During a hearing by the House Financial Services Committee titled, Holding Megabanks Accountable, Maloney pointed out that two other banks on the panel - Citibank and Bank of America - adopted policies limiting their business with certain gun industry clients.
After the Parkland shooting last year where a lone gunman killed 17 students and staff with a military-style semi-automatic rifle, two of the banks on this panel - Citibank and Bank of America - stepped up to the plate and adopted formal policies limiting their business with certain gun industry clients, and I want to publicly thank them, she said.
Now, Mr. Dimon, last week you published your letter to shareholders. In the section on responsible banking, you wrote the paragraph that is up on the screen right now. You said that turning down clients with low character is often the only way to be a responsible bank, Maloney said.

Seems to violate equal protection.
This woman is deramged, as are most modern democrats.
Carol should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for violating 18 U.S. Code § 242 - Deprivation of rights under color of law.
This is how they will get around the gun ban issue.
#demsdontcare
So, I take it that Chase does not do business with Democrat congressmen and that is why he is on the hot seat?
The one thing that I got out of the hearing was that I am recommitted to closing my Bank of Illegals (America) account.
What a turd she is!
Yep. Their new strategy.
Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.)
The list gets bigger.
I think no demon rat can buy own or use a gun....oh they can check their voting records to see if they are demon rats goes for bodyguards too
This is part and parcel of the left’s crusade to restrict banking access to sectors they are against, Oil industry, guns, tobacco, etc.
Also to attempt to manipulate whole industries to do their bidding by restricting access to financial services.
In the private sector this would be called extortion.
Who gets to determine what is “responsible” lending behavior? Let me guess, denying banking services to entities the leftists disagree with is considered “responsible.” And these people (leftists) have the nerve to call themselves accepting and claim to celebrate diversity. They are just fascists. They try to destroy anything and anyone that disagrees with their agenda.
I relished Congressman Sean Duffy’s questioning to BOA Chair about the “gun” issue. He asked this doofus if BOA finances movie productions and video game productions (affirmative answer on both). Wonderful example of their holier than thou attitude to take out big bad guns while propping up violence and decadence in movies and video games. Duffy asked if they served customers in flyover country (yes, yes they do!). He told this “suit” that constituents in these states believe in 2A and that BOA doesn’t speak for them. Cong. Duffy asked how the decision was taken to not provide financing to automatic and semi-auto gun mfgrs. The CEO told him that they had a “team” of 100 internal BOE morons who reached this decision. Glad I don’t bank with them!
Maloney looks like the last customer who’s spent a “L O N G” night at the bar. Those lips!

***with a military-style semi-automatic rifle,***
I remember when the 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifle was the most hated rifle by the news media and Eastern Politicians.
They actually got them banned from the US in 1968. Police rifles off the same assembly line were still OK to to be imported. Years later, they realized the ban did nothing to stop crime so they are now legal to import again.
It is because today’s rifles are associated with the “military” that the AR-15 is hated today. As Josh Sugarman said, when he wrote his diatribe against military style rifles, they LOOK military and people don’t know the difference between an AR-15 and an M-16. Therefore they should be easy to get banned.
Always remember, if they can ban just ONE style, they will use that law to work on banning others, and eventually go for their REAL TARGET, which has always been Handguns as they have been trying to get banned since 1962.
Achieving governmental objectives by combining government with corporate power. Or as Mussolini noted the strength of the fasces, working together. He called the concept “fascism”.
