Zelensky just blinked. President Trump has been pressing Kyiv to make a deal. On Tuesday he said it plainly: "We want Zelenskyy to make a deal." Now Zelensky is moving. On Fox News Wednesday he was asked if he'd accept freezing the war where the lines are now. "Yes, right now, we have to freeze," he said. He called it a "real way to end this war." After meeting Steve Witkoff in Oslo, he also says Ukraine will back new three-way talks with the U.S. and Russia, likely in November. It's not a peace deal yet. Zelensky still wants security...

Musk Ordered Starlink Slowdown That Blindsided Ukraine WASHINGTON—Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration, U.S. officials and people familiar with the matter said. Both Musk and President Trump have expressed anger at Ukraine for attacking Russian diesel refineries in recent weeks, which the president blames for high energy prices. Last week, Musk capped the speeds at which Ukrainian hardware could stay connected to the satellite-based network, the people said, rendering some offensive drones and interceptor drones virtually useless.Musk and Trump...

Military-grade system appeared to be working more normally on Thursday, soon after the call WASHINGTON—President Trump called Elon Musk on Wednesday and asked him to lift restrictions on a military-grade version of Starlink in Ukraine that the SpaceX chief had throttled, U.S. officials said. The system was working more normally Thursday, shortly after their conversation, U.S. and Ukrainian officials said. Some Ukrainian officials said the system wasn’t restored to full functionality but was working at higher speeds than under the cap. Trump told Musk said he was frustrated the system’s speeds remained capped at around 100 miles an hour, officials...

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday he would accept a peace deal freezing the war along current front lines, calling it the “real way” to end the conflict. Zelensky made the remarks in an interview on Fox News’s Fox & Friends when host Brian Kilmeade pressed him on whether he would agree to an arrangement that halted the fighting where the battlefield now stands. The Ukrainian leader did not hesitate when asked to commit: “Yes, right now we have to freeze, and I think this is real way to end this war,” he replied. “We call it a ceasefire or...

The White House has blocked the transfer of Patriot missiles to Ukraine, US officials have said. The transfer of interceptor missiles from countries friendly to Ukraine requires the approval of Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary. While Mr Hegseth has not formally rejected the deals involving countries other than the US – as the manufacturer, it retains control over the weapons – he has not completed the steps required to approve them, sources told The Washington Post. Last week, a Ukrainian official told the Post that Kyiv had "only a couple" of missiles – vital to intercepting Russian missiles –...

Staying quiet is riskier than speaking up, Ukrainian officials say, as President Trump goes further than ever in prioritizing Russia’s interests.Ukraine has been here before with President Trump. But this time, as the American leader plays down Russian violence and makes it harder for Kyiv to respond, Ukrainian leaders have taken a different tack. They have punched back.A senior Ukrainian official likened it to a last chance to sound an alarm as a tsunami approaches. Even before the latest blowup with Mr. Trump, things were looking difficult for Ukraine. Daily strikes were ravaging its energy infrastructure and economy. Ukrainian air...

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Tehran this week. This comes as the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Monday that Moscow would honor its economic agreements with Iran despite the “challenging situation.” Moscow is reaffirming its commitment to cooperation with Iran. Lavrov met with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi. This comes as the relationship between Ukraine and the United States is facing a crisis. US President Donald Trump has been more critical of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. The US apparently wants Ukraine to stop attacks on Russian energy sites. The US has also...

Russia is a pillar of an anti-American axis led by China and joined by Iran and North Korea — the trio providing Putin with the economic backstop, materiel, and manpower he desperately needs. In 2022, Putin and China’s Xi Jinping issued a joint statement of cooperation that bluntly challenged the United States and NATO. The Russian regime is actively abetting Iran’s military operations against the United States, providing intelligence for targeted attacks on U.S. personnel, as well as drone weaponry (which Iran initially designed but Russia can produce at scale). That is to say: While Trump embraces Putin, Putin aids...

Amid escalating tensions between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Sunday dodged three times when asked whether Ukraine is an ally of the United States. “We provide the three different things ... to Ukraine, so that’s what you do for an ally. We’re not providing those to Russia,” Bessent told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” the second time he was asked whether the U.S. considers Ukraine an ally. Asked for a third time, the treasury secretary simply said, “I’m not the secretary of state. I’m not the president.” Earlier, Bessent said the U.S....

Ukrainian attacks set an oil export terminal ablaze in St. Petersburg on Sunday, as Kyiv launched more than 1,000 drones across Russia in one of its largest ever aerial bombardments. The attack comes amid deepening tensions between Ukraine and Washington, with U.S. President Donald Trump criticizing Kyiv for its strikes on Russian oil infrastructure. One person was killed and five more were wounded in the attack, which sparked fires at both the Petersburg Oil Terminal and the city’s Ruchi oil depot, said local Gov. Alexander Beglov. A logistics center belonging to Russian retailer Ozon and a data center for local...

Again, there are multiple dynamics unfolding inside this story. However, as to the central component of Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy complaining about hampered access to Starlink and/or Starshield, Secretary of State Marco Rubio sets the record straight. Ukraine has never had access to the U.S. military version of Starshield; providing that level of guidance access would be akin to the United States being in direct conflict with Russia using a proprietary U.S. military system. This is not our circus and not our war; there is no need for U.S. military conflict with Russia.

Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets with placards, chanting "Kyiv without Klitschko" before congregating outside the city council building. One placard read: "It's too late for Klitschko to get busy now, time to say goodbye." Others said "Where are the shelters?" and "Your task is to make Kyiv safe, green and historic, not deserted"....

Speaking to broadcaster Newsmax, the president blamed Volodymyr Zelensky for the war, claiming he – not Vladimir Putin – had 'destroyed' Ukraine. It came after Mr Zelensky resumed attacks on Russian oil refineries after hitting out at Mr Trump's 'betrayal' at a time of intense Russian attacks. In an interview with the Financial Times, the Ukrainian leader said the cutting off of US intelligence sharing and the simultaneous weakening of the Starlink satellite internet service was 'dangerous' for civilians. He added: 'The block [on attacking refineries] is out. We’re done.' 'Well, I think that's a disgrace,' Trump said yesterday, adding...

JoeLange@JoeLange·18hThere’s a reason why Zelensky doesn’t want another election. And it’s the same reason that he doesn’t want to end the war in Ukraine. He’s a really unpopular dictator in Ukraine and would lose an honest election in a landslide and then face justice for his war crimes against his own people. But canceling elections, wasn’t the only thing Zelensky did.He then “suspended” all political parties and then banned them. Otherwise, you would have seen huge uprisings in Ukraine against Zelensky. After that, he consolidated the large TV networks into one that he controlled and also banned the independent networks. He’s been throwing independent...
