US and South Korean officials have failed to agree on relocating US army bases in South Korea and postponed the signing of a deal until April. The two sides were to have finalized the two-day talks in Seoul on Saturday and sign documents on moving US military headquarters from its base at Yongsan in central Seoul to the south of the capital. At previous talks last month in Hawaii, the allies agreed to pull some 7,000 US troops out of Seoul to the new base in Pyeongtaek, 70 kilometres south of the capital, by the end of 2007. "The two...

Hey VA people! I'm relocating to Virginia Beach in Feb. We have a place to stay for 3 months, but will have to find another place in the area after that. Which areas do I need to stay away from? I know that Norfolk and Portsmouth (sp?) have some rough areas - what other areas should I take out of consideration? I'll be working at Oceana and am willing to commute a bit. Thanks in advance for any pointers or help you can give me on this. FRegards, PrairieDawg

Hi,I am relocating from Atlanta, GA to Kansas City. I haven't yet decided if I want to be in Missouri or Kansas, but either will do. I'll preferably be on the south side of Kansas City as that is where most of my business will be.I've been looking hard at Overland Park. I'm going to need a 2 bedroom apartment at around $1000/month or less. I also would like information on local/state taxes, car taxes, and any recommendations on a moving company. I've been looking on the Internet and doing research on moving companies and seeing a lot of horror...

Gang, Hello. I'm considering selling my house here in Colorado and using the proceeds to buy a house outright in either NC or SC along the coast. If any of you have suggestions on where I can find: 1. Housing for under 80K or so. 2. Reasonable school systems for my 2 kids 3. Enough employment (WalMart?) to make living expenses and a bit more. please let me know via FReepmail. I've been a computer programmer for 20 years now and am just not liking what I see as a future in this business, hence the search for a place...

Libertarians eye Wyoming for relocation of 20,000 By Ilene Olson Published in the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle CHEYENNE – Wyoming’s low population and conservative mentality have put the state in a prime position be the target destination for 20,000 Libertarians as part of the party’s Free State Project. “We like Wyoming,” said Keith Carlsen, spokesman for the project. “It’s not only a beautiful state, but it has the lowest population. It’s easier to persuade less people. “Wyoming is one of the most pro-freedom, independent-minded states in the country,” Carlsen said. But Gov. Dave Freudenthal said Libertarians “are overestimating the receptivity of their...

I'm co-opting this idea from another thread I saw yesterday, so special thanks to 1stFreedom. I'm at a crossroads and could use some feedback and suggestions. Now here's some background: I am a single working mom living in coastal Massachusetts with a 5-year-old child about to enter Kindergarten. I have been employed in the hotel industry for the past 10 years but now I'm really having trouble holding on. I've lost my job and I'm up to my ears in utility bills from the harsh winter we just had here. I have been approached by various relatives who live in...

I need some Freeper expertise. There is a possibility I may be offered a position in western Virginia. As we homeschool, we have done some research about the existing Virginia laws regarding homeschool reporting and responsibilities of parents and school officisls. Are there any western Virginia Freepers who homeschool that can give me a breakdown on ease of homeschooling there and the process? I understand that this can vary from district to district. The town in question is Grundy, near TN and KY. Thanks in Advance!

End justifies means for prairie dog hunter By LINDA KANE AVALANCHE-JOURNAL A bit of trickery is involved in luring prairie dogs from their burrows at the city's wastewater pasture east of town, but what awaits them on the other side is a home on the range. Believing they were instrumental in groundwater contamination, the city last year was prepared to kill thousands of prairie dogs at the land application site on East 50th Street. Instead, the city allows prairie dog catcher Lynda Watson to capture and relocate the animals to area farms and ranches. Watson was at the site Monday...

We will be moving to Los Angeles in the next 1 to 1 1/2 years. Originally from the Midwest, now living in New Zealand for 2 years. Looking for good communities in West LA. My job will involve driving between multiple locations in LA - downtown, N Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Torrance. I want to keep driving time reasonable. Our kids will probably be in private schools, but we want a community with good public schools as a backup. Ages primary school, middle school and high school. Also want to be reasonably close to the ocean as it is cooler...

I have meet with an interesting dilemma...I had a U-Haul rental truck reserved (with a confirmation number) for a month. Today, I received a telephone and told that I could not get a truck; that there were none available, even though I had a confirmation number guaranteeing me a truck for use on Saturday. The long and short of the matter is that I scrambled to find another truck. Well, it came as a shock to find there was not a single truck for rent in a 50 mile radius of my location. In fact, I check numerous places throughout...

The Free State Project is a plan in which 20,000 or more liberty-oriented people will move to a single state of the U.S. to secure there a free society. We will accomplish this by first reforming state law, opting out of federal mandates, and finally negotiating directly with the federal government for appropriate political autonomy. We will be a community of freedom-loving individuals and families, and create a shining example of liberty for the rest of the nation and the world. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Free State Project is a new strategy for freedom. Rather than continuing the same failed strategies aimed...
