Need recommendations for relocating to Coastal Carolina area

Posted on 12/01/2003 1:55:20 PM PST by PrairieDawg

Gang, Hello. I'm considering selling my house here in Colorado and using the proceeds to buy a house outright in either NC or SC along the coast. If any of you have suggestions on where I can find:

1. Housing for under 80K or so.

2. Reasonable school systems for my 2 kids

3. Enough employment (WalMart?) to make living expenses and a bit more.

please let me know via FReepmail. I've been a computer programmer for 20 years now and am just not liking what I see as a future in this business, hence the search for a place to downshift to. I'm checking into Wilmington right now, but am open to suggestions along the coast. Thanks in advance for any pointers to URLs or advice you can give me on this.

FRegards, PrairieDawg

William,

Thanks for the input. We drove the Outer Banks 2 weeks before the hurricane hit - beautiful place but no buffer to hide behind whatsoever when storms hit. I know that the fishing in NC should be pretty good (on and offshore), and the hiking looks pretty good - do you know how the hunting is? Also, if Wilmington does turn out to be too expensive is the area north of there (Jacksonville to Elizabeth City) along the Sound a good place to raise kids? Any thoughts on this or pointers to info is appreciated. Thanks again!

P.S. If anyone would be interested in my house on 65 acres East of Fort Collins, CO - drop me some mail.

FRegards,
PrairieDawg
