I am hoping that some San Diego area FReepers will give me a little help. I currently reside in Atlanta and I have been offered a job in San Diego, CA. I would like information on good places to live (safe areas/apartments), salary adjustments for cost of living vs Atlanta, good social spots where the women are, what the weather is like year round, etc.

If you're willing to engage in a little dialogue with me to help me out, please FReepMail me.

Much thanks in advance,

Xrp

The weather year round is as near ideal, as almost anyplace on the planet.

I'll defer to others for your other questions. Real Estate info abounds on the net.

Salary adjustment indexes can be found on job search and placement sites, also on the web.

As for women, you'll generally find different types of women, in different places. (bars vs. libraries, churches, etc.)

San Diego is the 6th largest city in the US, so you'll find plenty of the above. Two big universities, plus smaller colleges. Some of the best in-city recreation spots, as well.

More info! Do you want to rent or buy? How much do you want to spend? Where will you be working?

Let me know if you're going to be staying in Orange County. That's where I reside.

San Diego is glorious. I live on the coast now

The weather actually varies depending on how far in land you are; Coastal - 45 to 60 in the winter time, 70 to 85 in the summer. Inland - 40 to 60 in the winter time, 75 t0 90+ in the sumer time. It hardly rains(less than 25 days a year) with February being the big rain month. It is almost always clear sunny skies. Though for the entire month of June +, there a marine layer phenomenon called "June Gloom".

As far as apartments and areas to live, I will need more info. Do you want to be by the beach? More downtown? Doesn't matter as long as it's cheap? What area will you be working in? San Diego isn't LA but it still has traffic issues.

Women are all over the place. Pacific Beach and Downtown are probably the "hottest" spots.
