LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The LA County District Attorney’s office has filed a felony vandalism charge against an online personality they said filed a fake police report and told authorities he had been beaten and attacked by three men in West Hollywood last June. Calum McSwiggan, who is known for his online posts and videos, has been charged with vandalism for suggesting the men also damaged a Lexus which they said he damaged. The DA said original charges were dismissed Thursday to make way for a newly filed felony case.

After four lawsuits alleging he coerced young males into sexual relationships were filed, Georgia pastor Eddie Long took to the pulpit Sunday to carefully nuance his side of the story. Long, the charismatic who leads his mega-church of 26,000 members, told reporters after Sunday’s service that he would challenge the allegations. Joined by members of his legal team, he carefully read from prepared remarks — always a sign of innocence. By now we know how the redemptive process works for a televangelist accused of sexual relations with young males. First there is the allegation. Then there is the carefully worded,...

Washington Post “Right Now” blogger David Weigel once again has shown that he’s a peculiar choice to report on conservatism, after he bashed both traditional marriage proponents and Matt Drudge. On May 1 he tweeted, “I can empathize with everyone I cover except for the anti-gay marriage bigots. In 20 years no one will admit they were part of that.” Weigel attempted to defend his tweet in a May 3 article, “Covering Same-Sex Marriage,” but by then other members of the media had pointed out Weigel’s obvious bias on Twitter. Weigel seems to be slow to learn from his mistakes,...

(snip) Please, governor Palin, let's put this behind us. Only you can. I pledge to post any and all material you can provide debunking these stories soon as I receive any. I'd like this line of inquiry to end as soon as possible - for the sake of all of us, but especially the innocent child caught up in something he doesn't deserve.

NORTON – So much for not interfering with the automakers’ restructuring. Just days after General Motors Corp. announced that it would close its parts and distribution center in Norton by the end of this year as part of its bankruptcy restructuring, U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., has convinced G.M. chief executive Fritz Henderson to keep it open for an additional six months. The facility’s roughly 80 workers were told on Monday that the plant would close by the end of this year. That led the facility’s United Auto Workers union rep, Mark Ridenour, to ask Frank, whose district includes Norton,...

The man accused of killing former radio talk-show host Mike Webb two years ago pleaded guilty this morning to second-degree murder. King County prosecutors plan to seek a sentence of more than 12 years in prison for Scott White, who had originally been charged with first-degree murder. White, 29, had been living with Webb in Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood for six months when he killed Webb with an ax and hid his body in the crawl space, authorities said. Webb's body was found on June 28, 2007. Webb, who had once been the host of a host of a late-night...

For a quarter century, the man who is now Spokane's mayor has used positions of public trust – as a sheriff's deputy, Boy Scout leader and powerful politician – to develop sexual relationships with boys and young men. One man, Robert J. Galliher, claims in a court deposition that Jim West molested him in the mid-1970s when he was a boy and West was a Spokane County sheriff's deputy and Boy Scout leader. A second man, Michael G. Grant Jr., also accuses West of sexual abuse during the same era, including an incident at Camp Cowles, a Boy Scout camp...

Colin Farrell and director Oliver Stone have spoken out to defend new movie Alexander, which has been given a thorough kicking in the US. The £80m movie, which shocked America by portraying the Macedonian warrior king as 'Alex the gay', has only taken £18m across the pond. Stone, director of Platoon and Born On The Fourth Of July, said: "There's a raging fundamentalism in morality in the US. "From day one, audiences didn't show up. They didn't even read the reviews in the South because the media was using the words 'Alex the gay'. "I was quite taken aback by...

November 11, 2004 -- VINCENT D'Onofrio, the star of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," passed out while shooting the hit TV series yesterday morning — prompting insiders to gossip that the actor is "losing it." "Ever since John Kerry lost the election, [D'Onofrio] has lost his [bleep,]" said our on-set insider. "He has been getting into fistfights with people, and when he passed out today, we all thought he was faking it. But then he insisted they call 911." An ambulance raced to the Queens studio, where paramedics found nothing wrong with the gifted actor, who became a star in...
  • Judge: Homosexual Isn't Libelous Term

BOSTON - Stating that someone is homosexual does not libel or slander them, particularly in light of new court decisions granting gays more rights, a federal judge has ruled. The ruling by U.S. District Judge Nancy Gertner came as she threw out a lawsuit by a former boyfriend of pop singer Madonna who claimed he was libeled because his name appeared in a photo caption in a book about Madonna - under a picture of Madonna walking with a gay man. "In fact, a finding that such a statement is defamatory requires this court to legitimize the prejudice and bigotry...
