The State Patrol said in a statement that freezing rain early Thursday morning left the interstate between Menomonie and Black River Falls icy. At about 5:45 a.m. a semi-trailer apparently slid in the median near Hixton and caught fire with two cars underneath it. Other crashes and run-offs occurred around the semi-trailer. No one was seriously hurt but the crashes forced authorities to close both eastbound and westbound lanes. French authorities have launched an investigation after a spectator interfered in stage one of the Tour de France on Saturday, causing a massive pileup with less than 30 miles until the finish line. The French Gendarmerie said in a statement posted to Facebook that they are actively looking for the woman who held out a cardboard sign into the road causing the crash that resulted in several riders sustaining serious injuries. A pileup just north of downtown Fort Worth has been deemed a “mass casualty event” by officials early Thursday morning. The major crash was first reported around roughly 6 a.m., and the highway remains closed in that area as officials work to clear the scene. Caltrans tweeted that as many as 50 vehicles are involved in two locations, with as many as 100 vehicles trapped between the scenes. Videos of the scene posted to social media show multiple cars involved in the crash, and at least one in flames. Multiple emergency agencies responded to the scenes. All southbound lanes are shut down while emergency crews work the scene. Southbound traffic is being diverted to Frazier Mountain Park Road. State police have released details on a four-vehicle crash that tied up traffic Thursday morning on Interstate 99 in Patton Township. According to the report, officers responded to the crash shortly before 9 a.m. to the 71.5 mile marker within the construction zone along the interstate. Troopers reported that James E. Bentz, 60, of Tampa, Fla., was traveling north into the construction zone when he struck a car driven by Christian L. Lamana, 25, of Milroy. A crash involving dozens of vehicles and a tractor-trailer shut down Interstate 95 in South Baltimore Saturday morning. At least two people were killed and 15 were injured in the icy pileup, three of those seriously. Indiana State Police say Interstate 94 eastbound near Michigan City is closed because of a multi-vehicle crash involving several trucks and cars, with at least 2 people dead, according to ABC affiliate WLS-TV. JEFFERSON COUNTY - A massive collision investigators say may involve as many as 40 vehicles and has injured more than a dozen people on Highway 73 and has prompted a response from at least 15 ambulances. Investigators say fog and a marsh fire reduced visibility in the area. PINAL COUNTY, AZ (KPHO) - A dust storm has caused three major pileups on Interstate 10, killing one man. The Arizona Department of Public Safety expects the number of people seriously injured to top 15. The DPS says 22 vehicles were involved in the three crashes. The first two crashes happened just after noon near Picacho, about midway between Phoenix and Tucson. Those collisions involved 16 vehicles, including tractor trailers.
