Multiple emergency agencies responded to the scenes.
All southbound lanes are shut down while emergency crews work the scene. Southbound traffic is being diverted to Frazier Mountain Park Road. The crash has also caused traffic slowdowns in the northbound lanes.

There always seem to be horrible smashy-crunchies in that area. First time I saw a vehicle on fire was there in the 90s.
tule fog?
City insanity.
At 70-85mph things happen quickly, especially in the fog.
A spitting rainstorm has been moving in from the coast all day...dark clouds and cold air.
Mountain fog
Gorman is in the mountain pass at a higher altitude than the valley floor 20 miles away. Tule fog usually refers to the valley fog.
Fools just never slow down around there.
I remember driving that stretch in a minivan loaded with 6 people...up the hill...accelerating still at 95mph when I looked at the speedometer.
There were people passing me.
Scary.
For those who don’t know Southern California, but are familiar with the song “Hot Rod Lincoln”, Gorman is “the top of the Grapevine”.
We was drivin’ up Grapevine Hill
Passing cars like they was standing still.
It’s a stretch of about thirty miles, maybe 20, topping out at 4,144 feet, between the Santa Clarita Valley and the San Joaquin Valley, both of which are roughly 1,000 feet.
spitting rainstorm
**********
Never heard that one before but have heard a few others
TOAD-STRANGLER
TURD-FLOATER
GULLY-WASHER
RAINING CATS & DOGS
Where? State?
Those are descriptors of heavy rain. Sometimes the rain clouds are just spitting at you. Good-sized drops, widely seperated.
The grapevine can be a nasty piece of road. Steeper than it seems, people drive too fast, So. Californians don’t do too well in the rain and fog, and the corners throw them off. The CHP has been on top of the trucks since I lived in those parts but there’s more traffic now. When things go sideways they do so in a big way.
On the AutoBahn at 125mph, any crash will be a spectacular fatality
Had a business acquaintance from Oklahoma that moved to Las Vegas and stayed two years.
He was moving back and called somewhere E of El Paso asking me for directions.
Where you are?
*I am on The 10.
Me: Sorry, we have no roads or highways in Texas called 'The'.
You need to loose that Kalifornee speak before you cross that Red into OK.
California a bit north of LA.
Wow, I can hardly believe it. What makes people drive so recklessly over there? Are they generally stupid? Do they understand basic physics?
My wife drove up it four days after she got her driver’s license, at age 30. I was excited.
I would not want to be that truck driver who needs to use the “runaway” ramp on the north end of the northbound lane.

What about freeways?
