In a detailed 154-page decision, the Kansas Supreme Court has indefinitely suspended the law license of former state Attorney General Phill Kline for 11 ethics violations related to his investigation of abortion clinic from 2003-2008. “The Sebelius-Era vendetta against Kline for daring to uphold Kansas abortion and child sex abuse laws has finally extracted its pound of flesh,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “Contrary to the Court’s ruling, we know Kline to be a selfless man who has dedicated his life in the pursuit of justice. Sometimes, that honesty and integrity comes at a price, and Kline has...

A politically-charged panel in Kansas has stripped the law license of pro-life attorney and former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline for prosecuting the Planned Parenthood abortion business. A professional ethics panel recommended Thursday that Kline has his law license indefinitely suspended because of his conduct during criminal investigations of the abortion business, claiming he was “motivated by dishonesty and selfishness.” The three member panel of the state Board for Discipline of Attorneys claimed Kline repeatedly misled officials or allowed his staffers to do so. The panel weighed nine counts of alleged ethical violations before the Kansas Attorney Disciplinary Board in...

As the hearings into bogus ethics charges filed against former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline went into their second day, news surfaced showing a report exonerating Kline and his abortion probe of Planned Parenthood had been concealed for months. The Topeka Capital-Journal newspaper indicated the state’s disciplinary board for lawyers concealed for 20 months an internal investigation it conducted revealing no probable cause existed to justify ethics complaints Kline related to his criminal inquiries into Planned Parenthood and the late late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller.Kline told the newspaper the document would have been helpful during his unsuccessful August 2008 election...

Planned Parenthood in Kansas Ignored 164 Cases of Child Rape Topeka, KS -- Former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline dropped a bombshell during a hearing today in a case involving pro-abortion pushback against the charges he filed against a Planned Parenthood abortion business. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/02/22/planned-parenthood-in-kansas-ignored-164-cases-of-child-rape/

When Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams raided the medical offices of Kermit Gosnell, he thought he was raiding a pill mill, the largest source of illegal painkillers sold on the streets of his city. Williams instead discovered a squalid “house of horrors” where illegal late-term abortions were done on drugged, dazed women, where the late-term babies were born alive then murdered by severing their spinal cords with scissors, and where the severed feet of those late-term babies were kept in jars as trophies.Williams, a newly elected Democrat, was not an anti-abortion crusader by any means, but what he found shocked...

Former Kansas prosecutor Phill Kline will face an ethics hearing on February 21, 2011, on politically-motivated charges that he acted improperly during his investigations of abortion clinics, even though recently released documents show that investigators for the Disciplinary Administrator cleared Kline of any wrong-doing in 2008.In a Disciplinary Report filed with the Disciplinary Administrator on May 22, 2008, a team of investigators carefully looked into the trumped-up ethics charges against Kline. Their determination left no question that Kline did nothing improper to warrant further action.“After reviewing the substantial documentation in this case, it is the opinion of these investigators that...

The case against Wichita abortion provider George Tiller will go to trial, a Sedgwick County judge ruled today. District Court Judge Clark Owens denied a motion from Tiller’s lawyers to dismiss the charges against him based on the actions of prosecutors Phill Kline and Paul Morrison.

The two candidates for Johnson County district attorney, Rick Guinn and Steve Howe, can boast the most important qualification for the job anyone could ask for. Neither was a crony of Phill Kline. Guinn had left the D.A.’s office long before Kline arrived, to head up the criminal division of the Kansas Attorney General’s office. He had been the deputy D.A. here in Johnson County. Steve Howe was fired by Kline, as part of the purge. That would be purge, not surge. A surge seeks victory. A purge usually ends in defeat. And defeat it is, because the conviction rate...

Have we finally seen the last of Kline? We can only pray. "A political newcomer knocked Phill Kline out of the race for Johnson County district attorney Tuesday, defeating the hopes of abortion opponents who had campaigned nationwide. With all of the vote counted, Steve Howe, a former Johnson County prosecutor, trounced Kline with 33,260 votes to Kline’s 22,188, a margin of 60 percent to 40 percent, according to final unofficial returns. Howe will face Democrat Rick Guinn in the Nov. 4 general election."

A local election contest rarely draws national attention. But the issue of abortion has catapulted the district attorney’s race in Johnson County into that sphere. Phill Kline, who is campaigning to keep the job, is the first prosecutor since Roe v. Wade to file a criminal case against Planned Parenthood. Those who oppose abortion have taken note and are sending manpower and money. “There is no other elected official taking a more principled and courageous stand for the sanctity of human life than Phill Kline,” conservative James Dobson, who heads Focus on the Family, wrote recently in a letter soliciting...

A grand jury investigating abortion provider George Tiller adjourned Wednesday afternoon without issuing a criminal indictment. Retired Sedgwick County District Judge Paul Buchanan, assigned to preside over the grand jury, said the panel returned a finding of “no true bill,” meaning criminal charges would not be filed. The grand jury was convened in January through a petition drive by anti-abortion groups seeking an investigation into whether Tiller violated state abortion laws.

Saying he has a passion for justice, District Attorney Phill Kline announced Monday that he would be a candidate to retain his job as Johnson County’s top law enforcement officer. At an evening news conference, with his wife and daughter at his side, Kline said he would file today to run as a Republican. That means Kline will face former Johnson County prosecutor Steve Howe in the Aug. 5 primary; the winner will take on former Johnson County prosecutor Rick Guinn, a Democrat, in November.

... What is beyond debate is that, with Kline, it has been one thing after another. So I can fully understand why Kansas GOP officials are throwing fits over news that Kline may renege on his promise to sit out this year’s election. Imagine their horror upon learning of the draft-Kline movement. And that it’s entirely possible he will run for a full term as Johnson County district attorney. Or at least won’t rule it out. ...

Johnson County, Kansas DA Phill Kline may become the first to bring down a local Planned Parenthood operation on a host of criminal charges including failures to report sexual abuse of minors, criminal late term abortions and forged records. The legal wars between Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri and Kline boil down to two simple points: first, Kline alleges -- and has taken to a grand jury -- evidence that Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri routinely fails to report sexual abuse of children and its doctors perform illegal partial-birth abortions; second, that this particular Planned Parenthood -- which...

TOPEKA (AP) | Operation Rescue has filed two complaints with state agencies, accusing Attorney General Paul Morrison of violating campaign and attorney ethics during his affair with former subordinate Linda Carter. The anti-abortion group's president, Troy Newman, said Wednesday the complaints were filed with the Governmental Ethics Commission and the Office of the Disciplinary Administrator. Neither agency would confirm the complaints were filed, citing state law against doing so. Operation Rescue alleges that Morrison used his relationship with Carter to protect Wichita abortion provider Dr. George Tiller and Planned Parenthood of Mid-Missouri and Kansas.

Silence can sometimes be golden. Gov. Kathleen Sebelius would do well to remember that the next time she is tempted to defend Paul Morrison. Sebelius recently commended Morrison for his professional accomplishments while attorney general. At the same time, she couldn't resist taking a swipe at Morrison's predecessor, Phill Kline. Sebelius said recently that Morrison proved himself a capable attorney general but let personal conduct undermine his professional accomplishments. We're not buying the spin. And as far as Kline is concerned — we sometimes wonder how far the Democratic Party will go in attempting to discredit the Republican former attorney...

Attorney General Paul Morrison and mistress Linda Carter kept in close touch during their extramarital affair, leaving a trail of evidence pinpointing when their long-distance romance came to a bitter end. Documents obtained Thursday from the offices of the attorney general and the Johnson County district attorney under the Kansas Open Records Act show Morrison placed at least 480 telephone calls this year from his personal and work telephones to numbers assigned to Carter. At the time, he was serving as the state's top law enforcement officer in Topeka and she was director of administration in the Johnson County district...
