Have we finally seen the last of Kline? We can only pray.

"A political newcomer knocked Phill Kline out of the race for Johnson County district attorney Tuesday, defeating the hopes of abortion opponents who had campaigned nationwide.

With all of the vote counted, Steve Howe, a former Johnson County prosecutor, trounced Kline with 33,260 votes to Kline’s 22,188, a margin of 60 percent to 40 percent, according to final unofficial returns.

Howe will face Democrat Rick Guinn in the Nov. 4 general election."

Kline was too focused on one issue and he didn't listen to the voters of Johnson County. Heck! He didn't get the message when he was voted out as Attorney General.

While Phill is not a bad guy he needed to spend less time being obsessed with the one issue that consumed his life.

Scott Schwab should have seen this when he appointed him DA.

So Kansas is now a ‘Pro-Choice’ state?

No! But that one issue consumed his life and ability to see the forest from the trees.

No. They just now have two qualified men running for JoCo D.A. More importantly, Kline is done.

Kline was doing his job. Would you rather him ignore the law and let Tiller continue to perform illegal late-term abortions?

I don’t remember all the details but as I recall, Kline tried to make an issue of the Wichita killings of Dec 2000 an issue in his ‘02 race and was roundly criticized for it. Others said don’t politicize that tragedy. Like if things were reversed it wouldn’t have been an issue to the left! I think perhaps Kline was right to bring it up because Sebelius, then running for governor the first time, was anti death penalty despite that heinous crime being committed in her state.

does it mean that Tiller is going to get to keep escaping justice though?

Personally, I’d like a DA or AG who does more than in office that try to prosecute one abortionist. Nobody wants a zealot (apparently) but does this mean that Kansas is now going to be a Sebelius-friendly state where they no longer prosecute people who violate abortion laws?

Not arguing, just seeking more perspective. I’m only in Johnson County once or twice a year.

You’re mistaking the Kansas City Star’s focus on one issue with Kline’s focus as prosecutor.

They went out of their way to ignore all the other cases that he prosecuted.

Apparently, he had to be gotten rid of because he refused to ignore the criminality of the abortion industry like the rest of the politicos want to.

that’s why I’m asking some locals in KC to help me understand what is actually going on there since the Star doesn’t exactly speak ‘for the people’ any more than the NY Times does.

I think kcnewswatch.com is a good start, and I’m glad they’re advertising on the radio.

I hope it doesn’t just go away now that Kline lost the primary. I got the feeling that this wasn’t so much a “anti-KC Star” site as it was a pro-Kline site.

Maybe they’ll change focus now. It’ll be good to have a conservative news source in KC. I’m hoping to get some LTE’s published.
