The 23-year-old, who quarterbacked under his father at University of Colorado, had been expected to be drafted during the first round. Sanders was also surprisingly passed over by teams for the second and third rounds. Finally, on Saturday, he was selected by the Cleveland Browns during the fifth round as the No. 144 pick.

Ohio State won't have one of its best players for the Peach Bowl against Georgia on Dec. 31. According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has declared for the 2023 NFL Draft and will not play for the Buckeyes again. "I want to be out there competing with my brothers more than anything," Smith-Njigba told Thamel. "The decision to turn pro was made after I was unable to come back on multiple occasions during the season and the doctors determined I would be unable to participate in the playoffs." Smith-Njigba has been battling a lingering hamstring issue...

As some momentary relief from a sports less world tonight Thursday is the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. I will be booing Roger Goodell. From all the reports I have read the Bengals and 'Skins are locked into picking Bayou Joe Burrow and Chase Young. Where the action might get interesting is Detroit at number 3 with reports the front office is divided in who to pick and other teams eyeing to move up to perhaps pick off Tua. Be interesting if there are technical issues during this virtual draft.

Chewbagga and R2-D2 get to announce the 49ers pick. As Mike Maycock said "This is the biggest event in the players lives and you gotta do this?" He threatened to walk out. Why the NFL has to go there is beyond me. Milk everything they can for this event to the point of getting stupid.

Does anyone know of an overseas Website that simulcasts ESPN? I used to know of one, but I lost the link. Thank you in advance.

ESPN’s Keith Olbermann wants the United States to address its issues with rape and domestic abuse. And whether the sporting world knows it or not, fans are given the opportunity to do just that during the 2015 NFL Draft and the upcoming Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao fight. Jameis Winston is dealing with allegations of sexual assault and Mayweather has five instances of domestic abuse on his criminal record. Yet, Winston is looking like a lock at the No. 1-overall pick, and Mayweather continues to box in the arguably highest profile event in the history of boxing.

This year's NFL draft picks include Jadeveon Clowney, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Darqueze Dennard. No, I'm not pulling your leg: Houston Texans select Jadeveon Clowney No. 1 overall Green Bay Packers select Ha Ha Clinton-Dix No. 21 overall in the 2014 NFL draft Cincinnati Bengals select Darqueze Dennard No. 24 overall in the 2014 NFL draft Those Key & Peele parodies aren't that much of an exaggeration: East/West College Bowl - Key & Peele East/West College Bowl 2 - Key & Peele I probably missed a few, since I don't follow the NFL.

The NFL draft — the league’s Radio City-staged, nationally televised, endlessly hyped off-season spectacle — opens Thursday night, and for the first time an openly gay player will be waiting for a phone call. But it could be a long wait for Michael Sam, the University of Missouri defender and all-American who came out in February. Draft analysts say he might not be selected until the last picks are made on Saturday — and perhaps not at all. If that happens, Sam could still sign with a team as an undrafted free agent and play on Sundays this fall. But...

A Boston sports-radio host yesterday likened former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow’s NFL draft party to a “Nazi rally,” a remark one media observer called an “amazing double standard.” Fred “Toucher” Toettcher said yesterday on 98.5 The Sports Hub, “It looked like some kind of Nazi rally. . . . So lily-white is what I’m trying to say. Yeah, Stepford Wives.” Station spokesman Cha-Chi Loprete said the station “received no inquiries regarding” the morning drive-time show and declined further comment. Efforts to reach Toettcher for comment were unsuccessful.

After spending the season as college football’s marquee stars, Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford now hold the biggest off-season question in their hands. One N.F.L. scout said that Sam Bradford is a "no-brainer" overall No. 1 pick in the draft.

Miami Dolphins have signed Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long to a contract agreement and will select him with the No. 1 overall pick in Saturday's draft. Despite speculation that Dolphins vice president of football operations Bill Parcells really had planned to select Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston or Virginia defensive end Chris Long, sources told ESPN's Michael Smith that since the Dolphins opened negotiations with Jake Long they were talking to him exclusively. Long, a 6-foot-7, 313-pound senior who moved to left tackle in 2006 and started his final 26 games, was an All-America selection and Big Ten lineman...

Bill Parcells won his first Super Bowl ring with a relentless pass rush. The linebacker-driven 3-4 scheme of his New York Giants finished second in the NFL in sacks in 1986 with 59. Lawrence Taylor led the league with 20½ sacks on the way to being named the NFL's Most Valuable Player.

With the blessing of DollyCali, I will be your host for this, the NFL Draft weekend! A certain percentage of you probably don't know me, and some of you do. So let me give you the crash course, impromptu introduction... GOP_Raider, a distinguished and wise poster at Free Republic, is a senior fellow at the National Institute of Hitting It. This year's quarterbacks in the NFL draft have little in common, as each possesses different traits that attract the attention of scouts. It is a top-heavy group with a pair of prospects battling to be taken among the top 10 picks and three to five players fighting to be selected by the end of the draft's first day. The evaluation of a quarterback starts with watching or looking for consistency in a number of areas: setup, footwork, throwing motion, accuracy and then competitiveness and intangibles. A quick release is an ideal trait in today's NFL game, since teams are rushing...

Long after they expected and hoped, a house full of family and friends was able to let out the screams of joy that nine hours of anxiously watching the NFL Draft had bottled up. When former Palmdale High School star Derek Hagan finally saw his name on the television screen Saturday afternoon, the champagne and tears flowed freely because Hagan's lifelong dream of being an NFL player came true. With the 82nd-overall pick in the draft, the Miami Dolphins ended the extended wait for Hagan and his supporters, who all believed the Arizona State wide receiver would be selected in...
