On Wednesday, it was reported that China had quietly compiled a list of US-made goods exempt from its 125% tariffs, aiming to ease trade tensions without public concessions. Companies, particularly those reliant on US technologies — such as pharmaceuticals and chipmakers — are being discreetly informed about these exemptions, Reuters reported. The list appears to be expanding: For instance, China recently waived tariffs on US ethane imports. This approach allows Beijing to maintain a firm public stance while offering behind-the-scenes relief. Reports emerged last week that China quietly rolled back tariffs on some US semiconductor products, easing pressure on its...

SINGAPORE, April 29 (Reuters) - China has waived the 125% tariff on ethane imports from the United States imposed earlier this month, two sources with knowledge of the matter said on Tuesday, among a group of products that have been granted exemptions. The move will ease pressure on Chinese firms that import U.S. ethane for petrochemical production as well as provide an outlet for the natural gas liquid, a byproduct of U.S. shale gas production. The sources said the tariff on ethane had been waived in recent days. One of them said the waiver has not been publicly announced. They...

The U.S. economy shrank in the first quarter despite underlying strength in consumer and business spending. Gross domestic product contracted at an annualized rate of 0.3 percent, the Department of Commerce said on Wednesday. The decline in U.S. gross domestic product marks a sharp reversal from the 2.4 percent growth rate recorded at the end of last year. This was the lowest rate of growth since 2022, when the economy avoided an official recession but contracted for two consecutive quarters. Final sales to private domestic purchasers, a closely watched measure of business and consumer health, expanded at a healthy pace...

The U.S. economy contracted in the first three months of 2025, as businesses rushed to stock up on imports ahead of tariffs and consumers eased their pace of spending. The Commerce Department said U.S. gross domestic product—the value of all goods and services produced across the economy—fell at a seasonally and inflation adjusted 0.3% annual rate in the first quarter. That was the steepest decline since the first quarter of 2022. The reading fell short of the 0.4% growth that economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal expected. The decline in GDP in the first quarter reflected front-running ahead of...

Video of blaze Police on Wednesday evacuated multiple communities, following the reigniting of last week's forest fire in Eshta'ol in five separate locations: Route 3, which has been closed to traffic; Canada Park; Neve Shalom; Mesilat Zion; and Mitzpeh Harel. Just prior to noon, the Fire and Rescue Service ordered Kibbutz Nachshon's residents to evacuate. As of 2:20 p.m., the list of evacuated communities included: Neve Shalom, Beko'a,...

Planning a vacation in Hawaii? Might be better to make it sooner rather than later as local lawmakers are ready to hike a tax imposed on travelers staying in hotels, vacation rentals and other short-term accommodations. AP reports the first-of-its-kind impost will earmark the funding boost for programs to cope with “climate change” with the politicians responsible pointing to the wildfires that devastated parts of Hawaii in 2023 as evidence that something must be done. State leaders highlight projects like replenishing sand on eroding beaches, helping homeowners install hurricane clips on their roofs and removing invasive grasses as a starting...

The world will not soon see a man like David Horowitz again.. One of the great Americans of our age, David Horowitz, died on Tuesday at the age of 86. David Horowitz was one of the towering intellects and most perceptive thinkers of the late twentieth century and early twenty-first; he was also a man of unusual courage and remarkable vision. Though few people today realize it, David Horowitz was also one of the most influential people of our time, as he was one of the first leftists of any prominence to leave the leftist ranks and become a stalwart...

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — First came their much-analyzed Oval Office moment. Next, their subject-to-interpretation hug. The two interactions between President Donald Trump and a sometime antagonist, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, reflect the Democratic governor’s efforts to move past last year’s hard-fought campaign and find common ground with the Republican president — at risk of political backlash. Whitmer, a potential 2028 presidential candidate, shared a hug with Trump as he arrived in her home state on Tuesday, less than a month after she shielded her face from cameras during an Oval Office appearance alongside Trump. It’s typical for a governor...

"Spain's power grid ran entirely on renewable energy".. Spain was supposed to be Europe’s Green Energy success story. With massive amounts of renewables in the power grid, Spain was going to save the planet. Here’s Red Electrica, Spain’s state-owned power company, last year bragging about its renewables. “Renewable energies generated 56% of Spain’s electricity mix in 2024 Renewable generation increased by almost 11% in a record-breaking year on two fronts: achieving the highest renewable electricity generation ever recorded and capturing its largest share since records began.” Now, Red Electrica is trying to explain why all the lights went out. Spain...

More than 50,000 Los Angeles County workers were on strike again Tuesday, closing libraries and disrupting administrative operations in the nation's most populous county and organizing a large march in downtown LA. The union represents employees including public health professionals, social workers, parks and recreation staff, custodians, clerical workers and others serving a county of 10 million residents. It will be the first time all of its about...

President Trump signed an executive order Monday that requires commercial truck drivers in the United States to be proficient in English. The text of the order acknowledges the essential role that truck drivers play in the U.S. economy and the livelihood of American people. “Every day, truckers perform the demanding and dangerous work of transporting the Nation’s goods to businesses, customers, and communities safely, reliably, and efficiently,” the order said. Trump designated English as the country’s official language in an executive order in March. In his order Monday, the president said proficiency in English should be nonnegotiable for professional drivers....

Housing activity for new residential construction climbed in March, spurred by a greater supply of houses during a crucial spring period. Sales of new homes rose 7.4% in March to a seasonally adjusted rate of 724,000 units, up from February's rate of 676,000, according to the Census Bureau data released on Wednesday. The reading came in well above Bloomberg's consensus forecast of 685,000. Judge Shelley Joseph, who now serves as a Boston Municipal Court judge, faces removal from the bench when she appears in Suffolk County Superior Court on June 9 for a public hearing into the April 2018 incident, the Boston Herald reports. She has been accused of allowing Jose Medina-Perez, an illegal immigrant originally from the Dominican Republic, walk out a back door of the Newton District Courthouse to avoid getting arrested by...

Congressional Democrats said on April 29 that the Trump administration has blocked about $430 billion in federal funding and that they are chronicling how it is stopping the flow of funds.Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), the top Democrats on the Senate and House appropriations committees, released a tracker on April 29 to “shine a light on President Trump’s vast, illegal funding freeze and how it is hurting people in every zip code in America.”“Instead of investing in the American people, President Trump is ignoring our laws and ripping resources away,” said Murray and DeLauro. They said...

If we’re serious about saving America, we need a leader who’s willing to be hated by the pundits, pollsters, and even some short-term-minded Americans to do what’s right. The country has been suffering for decades economically, culturally and politically — and the propaganda press wants you to care about approval ratings. As President Donald Trump marks his first 100 days in office, headlines scream about “record-low” poll numbers. But here’s the thing: polls don’t fix nations — leaders do. The same media that tried to convince us seven months ago that then-Vice President Kamala Harris had a legitimate chance to take...

Human Events Daily host and senior editor Jack Posobiec confronted Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) during a Democrat union workers rally on Wednesday. "Jamie, why did you lose the popular vote? Why did you lose every single swing state?" Posobiec shouted, refering to the Democrats' performance in the 2024 election. The crowd, lead by the senator, began to chant USA before the an unruly mob assaulted and cursed at him, knocking his phone to the ground.

Which is more plausible: the lying media has suddenly discovered accurate polling data? Or Trump supporters are not being polled? The left is having a dickens of a time trying to take down President Donald Trump. Activist judges have not deterred him. Unfocused protests have not slowed him down. And now the left is recycling its highly unsuccessful psyop, bad polling, as it tries to convince supporters that finally — this time they are almost certain — Trump is losing the confidence of average Americans.Just look at the polls, they beg. The media has learned nothing in its many years of...

President Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, has made it clear that having U.S.-born children does not grant undocumented immigrants automatic immunity from deportation. In a recent statement, Homan emphasized that while the presence of citizen children may be considered during immigration proceedings, it does not override violations of immigration law. During an interview on CBS News’ Face the Nation, Tom Homan reiterated that having a U.S. citizen child does not make undocumented immigrants "immune from our laws." “Having a U.S. citizen child after you enter this country illegally is not a get-out-of-jail-free card,” he said. “American families get separated...

Liberals won 80% of high-immigrant districts in Canada.. Canada's population is now 25% foreign-born, and set to increase .. This is what they want for America ... Canada has fallen, just like the UK! Not a shot fired and they are done ... Closer to 40% foreign-born. ... America is 54% white... ... What they've always wanted for America. What people will never ask is who will save them if America falls? Where will you escape to if America ceases to exist? ... Same in the UK. Pushing to 25% before next election ... Trudeau, over 10 years, let over...
