WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader John Thune told Breitbart News exclusively he is targeting a July 4 deadline to get the big budget reconciliation plan that would extend President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts– adding no tax on tips, Social Security income, or overtime wages–to the president’s desk for his signature.
This is welcome news for the president and his team, as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also has recently said he hopes for a July 4 date for the package to be wrapped up. The package is also expected to fund more of the president’s immigration priorities, as well as energy dominance measures.
Thune’s comments came during a lengthy exclusive on-camera interview with Breitbart News in the U.S. Capitol tap ed on Wednesday afternoon.

One can only wish/hope that John Thune is no Ditch.
Why not thank him for his work instead.
Why will it take 2 months to pass a freakin tax bill seriously should be done in a matter of a week tops..also..They should add in that no one who makes under 250 grand has to pay any income tax..put that in the bill and the GOP wins the midterms in a freakin LANDSLIDE
You’ve got a real high bar there.
Amen friend
Extending cuts. No further cuts. The confiscation continues.
They waste their time with some stupid a@@ tariff bill which they came up with in 5 minutes but they cant come up with the damn tax bill seriously this is what is wrong with the GOP, they get into power and do NOTHING with it til its too damn late..they have been in power for FOUR months, they should have passed 10 bills already
I wish
July 4. And will Thune and Johnson get any other piece of legislation to Trump before then? Or is one piece of legislation every 6 months the best we can hope for from these two RINO clowns?
Time will tell
“Senate” and “Leader” do not belong in the same sentence. The Great Compromise was the Founder’s only mistake, if they only knew what would evolve.
No mention of the Parliamentarian in this article.
Also passing a bill as soon as possible will help the economy all you hear about is “We are headed towards a recession” which is total BS..but having more money in people’s pockets will help
You mean there’s a chance we might get to keep a little bit more of our money? So heroic!
When you work from 12 to 2 two days a week it takes you six months to put a bill together.
Congress convened on January 3rd.
Is it just the renewal of the tax cuts of 2017? Or are they going to add some additional things such as the removal of some of the capital gains tax.
Obama also added 3.8% tax on dividends, which was unfair at the time. I hope that’s in the bill.
What a frigging loser!
I agree. The huge bills are just a means of hiding crap. And, it's time to pass concealed carry reciprocity.
Was that Sen. Thune who got all of Trump’s nominees through? Or was that some other U.S. Senate?
