I am pleased to announce that I will be nominating Mike Waltz to be the next United States Ambassador to the United Nations. From his time in uniform on the battlefield, in Congress and, as my National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz has worked hard to put our Nation’s Interests first. I know he will do the same in his new role. In the interim, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will serve as National Security Advisor, while continuing his strong leadership at the State Department. Together, we will continue to fight tirelessly to Make America, and the World, SAFE AGAIN. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Good. Marco is doing too good of a job to not be SecState for the full term, though.
Sounds President Trump made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
this makes no sense. what?
UN Ambassador is just a position to put people you want to keep at arms length....................
This is good. Waltz’s error in the Signal chat was very stupid. You get a mulligan on the golf course, not as National Security advisor. You should never give the media a chance to stick the knife in the administration’s back, and that is what that mistake did.
all good
Stefanik threw away a House leadership position for the UN gig. Word is she’s pissed with Johnson that she got replaced in the hierarchy before her confirmation.
I think an offer was made by Trump to give Mike Waltz the dignity and respect he deserves. I’m worried about Pete.
So he’s basically being demoted. Maybe UN Ambassador is a position for which he’s better suited. It’s less sensitive (and less important) but requires someone with good diplomatic skills, which he appears to have.
You make it sound like Trump didn’t have a choice...where on earth did you get that notion?
I wonder if there’s any connection to Trump’s new ban on anyone acquiring Iranian oil or petrochemicals?
Isn’t China Iran’s biggest oil customer?
He didn’t get booted for a one-time “oopsy”.
Moved to a position that will better serve Trump. Ousting him from a position where his staff sometimes clashed and he orchestrated the signal mistake, so it's accountability with some respect for his service and some face saving.
The fukarewe democrats tribe holds meeting what’s going on now?.
Like the comedy movie Lost in America with Albert Brooks and Julie Haggerty. After leaving their top jobs to “find themselves” by a disastrous cross country RV trip they come back and end up with different jobs with less pay and prestige——”but better dental.”
And by giving Waltz another position within the administration, it partially deprives the media of the scalp they so desire.
Quote by the President:
"In the interim, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will serve as National Security Advisor, while continuing his strong leadership at the State Department."
They can make it up to her.
Yes, that’s pretty much my take as well. If Trump thought the signalgate thing was intentional he wouldn’t be giving waltz another position. So he basically views Waltz as a loyal person who made a mistake.
You don’t want to ruin the career of someone like that if you can find him another position that’s more suited to his abilities. And it also sends a good message to the rest of his cabinet, that he has their back and isn’t too quick to throw them under the bus.
