First Spain Went Green. Then Black
Frontpage mag ^ | April 29, 2025 | Daniel Greenfield

"Spain's power grid ran entirely on renewable energy"..

Spain was supposed to be Europe’s Green Energy success story. With massive amounts of renewables in the power grid, Spain was going to save the planet.

Here’s Red Electrica, Spain’s state-owned power company, last year bragging about its renewables.

“Renewable energies generated 56% of Spain’s electricity mix in 2024

Renewable generation increased by almost 11% in a record-breaking year on two fronts: achieving the highest renewable electricity generation ever recorded and capturing its largest share since records began.”

Now, Red Electrica is trying to explain why all the lights went out.

Spain has one of the highest proportions of renewable energy – 56 per cent on average – in Europe.

And just days ago on April 16, Spain’s power grid ran entirely on renewable energy, including wind, solar and hydro power for the first time.

First you go green, then you go black.

A technological country can’t run on medieval technologies like wind and solar. They’re simply not reliable. Everyone knows that including the people shilling for them. Blackouts are not a failure, they’re supposed to set us back and force us to use less power. This is Cloward-Piven for the power grid and the misery is not a bug, it’s a feature.

Happy belated Earth Day.

Failure to maintain the power grid will result in millions of dollars in lost revenue by companies. Some who are close to failure will fail. Others may decide to go somewhere with better infrastructure. The downside risk of going green isn’t some spoiled food. It’s a cascading “sickness” in the economy. Way to go Europe! BTW, America has wonderful infrastructure. And, you can say whatever you want on the internet and not get arrested. (Some exceptions apply. Consult your lawyer before threatening Trump.)

Globalist motto - Eat bugs, freeze in darkness, die.

In the 1950s SciFy movies had a theme where an invader would come from outer space and the people of earth would band together to fight off the invaders.

Since the Space Aliens have not co-operated the globalist had to create an threat to unite the people of the earth, thus we have “man caused climate change”.

The threat is so real all first world nations must give up all technology that separates them from third world nations, and that is an abundance of low cost energy.

Of course it is all a lie. The earth’s climate is changing as it has since the day of creation but man has no control over this change.

Extreme environmentalist have become enemies of the human race. Perhaps they are the alien invaders wanting to kill off humans. /s last part.

You don’t know that.

Now we know what the green economy zealots are really talking about when they talk about “net zero” power generation.

I’m not a greenie but am impressed that Spain runs its grid entirely on renewable energy. The outage is a glitch that will be fixed. I think.

BTW, America has wonderful infrastructure.

Greens have successfully delay much needed improvements in American infrastructure, especially the power grid.

Fortunately, President Trump is moving aggressively to fix that. It will take at least a decade or two to do it.

URGENT: Yet more legacy media deception on a vital issue Overdependence on solar and other renewable energy is almost surely the reason almost 60 million people in Spain and Portugal lost power yesterday. Don't try to find that fact in the NY Times, though.

This green energy power grid collapse was not just predictable, it was inevitable.

But Europe is so far down the rabbit hole with the climate change, green economy and political correctness obsession that this will not be the wake up call it needs to be.

Europe has leveraged close to 7 trilllion euros over the last several decades to deconstruct their fossil fuel energy infrastructure and replace it with unworkable and unsustainable green energy programs.

The climate change/green energy hysteria has resulted in the greatest misallocation of resources since Egyptian Pharaohs built the great pyramids.

This green investment has really stressed the EU economic system and it's not obvious that they have the economic resources to rebuild or recommission the perfectly good fossil fuel system that they shut down.

Wonder if we’ll hear of crime, rapes, theft, etc that occurred during the blackout.

In my career I was employed at two profitable companies, one of them a multinational, which self-destructed due to unforced errors in judgement. The issues were obvious to us staff and despite attempts at warning, the top people continued the demolition. One commonality was the top people, who caused the destruction parachuted to safety with huge separation bonuses. I’m wondering if something similar is happening behind the scenes in Europe.

“Every Afternoon is a Death Race against Darkness.”

I view what Spain has done as a bold experiment. Maybe Spain’s electricity needs are comparatively low.

What Spain needs are “Grid Stabilizers” which can cushion the shock of power fluctuations. These huge spinning machines are called “generators” in the real world.

Without them...sorry, you end up like South Africa.
