Walt Disney World Resort omitted or replaced lyrics containing the words “gay” and “queer” at Disney Jollywood Nights, a hard-ticketed event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This special event celebrates the magic of the holidays in old Hollywood, bringing together Disney Characters, musical entertainment at the Hollywood Brown Derby and Tip Top Club at the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, the Jingle Bell Jingle BAM! fireworks, exclusive dining options, and all-new stage shows. !We'll be fighting in the streets With our children at our feet And the morals that they worship will be gone And the men who spurred us on Sit in judgment of all wrong They decide and the shotgun sings the song I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again The change, it had to come We knew it all along We were...

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Legislature has approved changes to the lyrics of Oregon’s state song to remove racist language and make the lyrics more inclusive. House Concurrent Resolution 11, approved Monday by a vote of 47-6, modifies the lyrics, while keeping the same music of “Oregon, My Oregon.” If reflects the “significant cultural, historical, economic and societal evolution in Oregon” since the state song was adopted in 1927, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported.

For years and years since about 1971, I've been listening to "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart. Well, not every minute of these past 49 years but at least 500 times I've heard that song either on the radio or from my music collection. Not even my favorite Rod Stewart song but I've heard it probably the most out of the Rod Stewart songs on account of it being so popular and all. ("In A Broken Dream" is my favorite Rod Stewart song and he recorded it with a band that called themselves Python Lee Jackson). So anyway, I've heard the...

I was just listening to Paul Brady's "Nothing but the Same Old Story" and I flashed on what's going on in the Catholic Church: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgaIAzWW2zc "Nothing But the Same Old Story" The lyrics have evocative lines: Paul Brady lyrics I'm thinking of a cri de coeur from a priest who entered the Catholic priesthood with the hope of holiness and an honest life for God, then got waylaid by the corruption at the top, the cynicism at the bottom, the scorn from all the worldly of the world--- thought about being a saint, himself, speaking out boldly, paying up personally...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOnde5c7OG8 BRYAN FERRY "More Than This" (Ferry) I could feel at the time There was no way of knowing Fallen leaves in the night Who can say where they're blowing As free as the wind And hopefully learning Why the sea on the tide Has no way of turning More than this - there is nothing More than this - tell me one thing More than this - there is nothing It was fun for a while There was no way of knowing Like dream in the night Who can say where we're going No care in the world Maybe...

Happy Valentine's Day, a day on which we anglophones struggle under one of the worst burdens in a world which has otherwise blessed us: the word "love." The French for "love is amour, which rhymes with dozens of other useful words - toujours (always), jour (day), carrefour (crossroads), tambour (drum)... So the romantically inclined Quebecois lyricist can slough off a love ballad in minutes:

Hoping for your help in finding the source of a line from a song. I've Googled, and otherwise searched to no success. Am looking for the title of the song. The lyric below, is a baseball reference, and it may not be exact, but it is very close... "Hitch up your britches, take one of those pitches, and 'bam' it's over the fence".

Now the rain man gave me two cures, Then he said, "Jump right in." The one was Texas medicine, The other was just railroad gin. And like a fool I mixed them And it strangled up my mind, And now people just get uglier And I have no sense of time.

Author’s Note: This is a column I wrote back a few years ago but never published. Instead, it appeared in abbreviated form in my latest book, Letters to a Young Progressive. Given recent political trends, I thought it would be good to publish it in its original extended form. In recent years, there has been a resurgence of interest in the books of Ayn Rand. After escaping from the Soviet Union in the 1920s, Rand became a famous American playwright, philosopher, and novelist. She has written many books – three of which I would urge everyone to read. The first,...

When you won it before, Couldn't look you in the eye, You're like a bad penny, Each win made me cry; You change like the weather, At the end of the world, I wish you'd stop spending, You're still f-ing spending; Cause you're a lib, You're a wacko, What the hell are you doin' there You don't belong there; I don't care if it hurts, I want fiscal control, I want a balanced budget, I want bums off the dole; I want you to notice, When it all falls down, You kept f-ing spending; You would not stop spending;...

Recorded in Nashville, TN at Ocean Way Studios and produced by Grammy award winning engineer, Ben Fowler, Keep The Change addresses the clashing philosophies we encounter in our lives every day. What kind of people do we want to be? What kind of freedoms do we want to enjoy? The sound is drenched with soulful vocals, Wurlitzer electric piano, tasteful acoustic licks over a laid back drum beat. This song is sure to catch your ear and perhaps even encourage a dialogue about life's philosophies.

Tin Leftists and Obama’s coming, In the booth you’re on your own. This November the truth I see, Four dead in Benghazi. Gotta get truth through it Al Queda gun’d them down Should have been marines to go. What if you saw it Like the Prez did, going down? How can you sleep when you know? Word was never given; Our leader was laying them down. Should have been out long ago. What if you knew them And found them dead on the ground? How can you sleep when you know? Grim Leftists and Obama’s coming; When you vote you’re...

OBAMA SINGS... Joe the third was a Scranton son When his daddy left there he rode along When they gathered round and started yapping That's when Bidens and Joes were snapping Through the thickets their lips went flapping Then he'd lie and plagiarize And lord knows to my surprise The only one who can ever out me Is the son of a Scranton man The only lib who can never doubt me Is the son of a Scranton man Yes he can, he can, m-m-m yes he can Being gay isn’t always easy No matter how hard I try. A 6-year-old boy was suspended from his suburban Denver school for three days after school officials said he told a girl "I'm sexy and I know it," a line from a popular song. D'Avonte Meadows, a first-grader at Sable Elementary School in Aurora, is accused of sexual harassment and disrupting other students, according to a letter the school district sent to his mother after he was sent home Wednesday.
