As climate change threatens our planet, AP climate choices reporter Caleigh Wells is explaining what readers can do. Here’s what she said: Climate change stories can be devastating — frustrating policy fights, environmental destruction, public health disasters — and my fellow AP climate reporters are great at telling them. That’s not my job. I cover “climate choices.” I tell readers how their actions impact the planet. It’s important for two reasons: First, if we’re going to tackle this big existential climate threat, we have to know how, and 2) climate news sparks dread and anxiety. And the best antidotes I’ve...

SEATTLE — Seattle's new Mayor-elect Katie Wilson is addressing the public regarding her election and upcoming role as mayor on Thursday afternoon. After thanking her family, campaign team, volunteers, and canvassers, Wilson criticized the large amounts of money poured into her opponents' campaigns. "They might have the money, we had the people," Wilson triumphantly continued. "The working people of our city are tired. They are ready for something new, something more hopeful and just and equitable.” Wilson also listed what she wants to achieve as mayor. "I want everyone in this great city of ours to have a roof over...

Every autumn, news feeds get flooded with stories about climate change. That’s because around this time each year, global leaders gather to discuss collective efforts to limit our emissions of planet-warming gases, released primarily from oil, gas and coal. Some of the information coming out of the COP30 conference is bleak. But it’s not just COP. Climate stories can be difficult to consume year-round, whether it’s about natural disasters, victims of heat waves or sea level rise or new studies about global warming impacts. “When you throw a ton of scary facts and information at people, their nervous system shuts...

NBC Connecticut recently spoke with Matthew Mathison, an entrepreneur who has just written his first book, "Leadership Orbit." A key part of the book, Mathison says, is making small simple changes to overcome large problems. A global problem like climate change is a great example. “The act of doing something that you can actually control, completely changes a mindset from one of being scared and overwhelmed, sometimes paralyzed, to actually getting energy, getting excited and getting motivated,” Mathison said. If you’re waiting for someone to lead, well, that leader could be you. Mathison believes we can all be leaders -...

Sorry, Facebook friend says "fact-check", "it's a thing", and I don't have time for that. What do you think of these claims about how "cruel" and "horrible" Trump's raids are? I'll include another ass who posted her claims too. Of course they cry "racism" and of course, are very non-self-aware regarding "DISGUSTING, DESPICABLE" and "classy" when it comes to supporting endless riots!

The mother of Joshua Jahn — the sniper who killed two migrants in a shooting at a Dallas immigration facility — had posted a series of anti-gun rants on Facebook aimed at Republican lawmakers just a few years ago. Sharon Jahn lashed out at Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and GOP senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn over their support for the Second Amendment in resurfaced Facebook posts from May 2022. “Governor Abbott, Senator Cornyn and Senator Cruz how does it make you feel that your action to open up gun laws is responsible for the killing of 21 more people?”...

Tens of thousands of Americans gathered on Sunday to remember Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who had his life taken from him at an event at Utah Valley University earlier this month. And while the speeches were heartwarming, and it was a day filled with love, faith, and honor, protesters did show up. In one particularly vile comment, a protester told a pregnant attendee of Charlie’s memorial, yelling, “I hope your baby dies!” She continued to taunt passerby's yelling, "Words, words, you're getting mad over words?" Another attendee in an effort to defend the pregnant woman, approached the protester, yelling,...

Just as Americanists opposed and condemned as communist the Anti-Defamation League and similar organizations (including the American Jewish Congress), many Americanist leaders distrusted and denounced Zionism and the State of Israel. “[There is] more ideological and cultural kinship between Israel and the Soviet Union than between Israel and the United States,” declared Dan Smoot in 1969.97 “Behold, then, this strange situation,” he added: “Israel and the Soviet Union, with harsh words, are pursuing a common objective in the Middle East; to isolate all Arab countries from the United States and drive them into the Soviet orbit . . .” 98...

Senator JD Vance (R-OH) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that when former President Donald Trump was speaking about “far-left lunatics who were rioting” when he said the military should go after the “enemy within.” Vance said, “We’re not talking about the public policy. Can we talk about how Americans can’t afford groceries? Can we talk about how Americans can’t afford the cost of housing? Can we talk about that a lot of people out there and Erie, Pennsylvania, they’re the ones who suffer and die when people like Mark Esper and Mark Milley don’t obey the commander...

There's a growing cohort of people who believe in washing clothes less – or not at all. Matilda Welin talks to the 'no-wash' and 'low-wash' believers.Bryan Szabo and his team have spent hours poring over photos of well-worn jeans, including vintage fades with swathes of bleached fabric and high-contrast fades with knee-pit patterns of honeycomb as well as whiskers around the crotch area. Online, the team praises the community's top faders. "This crotch repair is crazy good!" they exclaim. Or: "Subtle and even shades... A near-perfect balancing of... fade patterns with spectacular blue tones." This last one is the winner....

(LifeSiteNews) — After eight years of nonstop persecution—one groundless impeachment and phony indictment after another—one can understand why President Trump would label the leaders of the Democrat Party a bunch of “Marxist lunatics.” “The Radical Left Democrats … these communists and fascists think that they can control our glorious country,” said Trump recently.Radical Left, Marxists, communists, fascists … is this political hyperbole? Or is it an accurate description of the Nancy Pelosis, the Merrick Garlands and, yes, the Joe Bidens and Barack Obamas who control the Democrat Party and carry out its policies?Few would deny that Marxism, in both its...

Tech news magazine Wired published a story, and made it an editor's pick, on Thursday that claimed it was "immoral" to want children who share one's genetic makeup and claimed that reducing biologism could be a way to "push back against the biological essentialism built into white supremacy." In the intro, the author rejects the notion that having a biological child creates a hardwired relationship and bond between the parent and child, and that "this prioritization of biological inheritance ('biologism,' as some call it) has recently become unsettled." Writer Leo Kim said that due to the advancement in modern practices...

The board is required to vote on its equity code every seven years, according to the outlet.
