The New York state legislature passed a bill that replaces the words “mother” and “father” with “gestating parent” and “non-gestating parent” in child custody and parental laws.
The gender-neutral terms, reminiscent of the dystopian fiction Brave New World, would be included in domestic and education law under the bill, according to the New York Post.
“‘Paternity’ proceedings to determine a child’s biological father would meanwhile become ‘parentage’ cases,” the Post explained. In addition, “a ‘putative father’ — also known as a deadbeat dad — would now be called ‘an alleged parent’ in official state records.”
The bill passed this week and heads to the desk of Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul for ratification. She has been unclear about whether she will sign off on the legislation.
“Well, I’m not familiar with what was introduced,” Hochul said at an event in Brooklyn on Wednesday. “I’ll take a look at it. This has been my practice for five years.”
State Conservative Party chairman Gerard Kassar believes the bill, if passed, will trigger a slew of other similar gender-neutral term mandates.
“It’s woke culture run amok. It’s one-upmanship,” he said.
“Imagine people who are considering moving to New York seeing this and saying, ‘Do I need this silliness?’ This is a really weird group of elected officials. It comes out of left field,” Kassar said.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman denounced the bill as “insanity” and pledged to oppose such moves if elected governor.
“Democrats led by Kathy Hochul have continued their declaration of war on New York families by canceling the loving terms of Mom and Dad and replacing them with ‘gestating and non-gestating parent,’” Blakeman said in a statement. “The insanity ends when I’m Governor.”
A memo accompanying the legislation says the change is needed to align with standards for family court cases involving same-sex parents and surrogate parents.
Adoption lawyers said Wednesday that use of the words “mother” and “father” in family law is outdated because of the growing number of homosexual couple adoptions and surrogacy contracts.
Republican legislators have criticized the bill as absurd.
“At a time when New Yorkers are being crushed by utility bills, rising costs, and public safety concerns, Albany Democrats have decided one of their final priorities in the last days of session should be replacing mothers and fathers in state law,” said Republican Sen. Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick of Nassau. “That is not what families are asking for. I am a mother and proud to be called ‘mother.’”

Secession from the human race.
Godless pieces of human debris
“...Total war against human existence...”
There’s nothing new under the sun. It’ been Satan’s plan since the beginning.
It’s evil and demonic.
This is what happens when one gives the enemy a single inch.
“We just wanna come out of the closet”, they said. Look at this BS where we’re at today as the result of that one little inch given to em....
You are much too kind in your assessment of these perverted and imbecilic fools. Up to now, we have had a perfectly adequate vocabulary to describe the various relationships of female and male interactions in matters of human reproduction and family law, now new terminology is being invented to somehow invalidate practically the entire body of law that has built up over the course of generations.
Logic and reason are the first casualties of this new paradigm.
The word for one’s female parent is among the oldest in any language. In the case of English, it can be traced to the Proto-Indo-European “mehter”. And it’s possible that that word, and similar cognates, developed because “mama” is one of the first real words that emerge from a baby’s babbling. What joy so many “gestating parents” and “non-gestating parents” have experienced for eons at hearing those words.
What hubris it takes for a bunch of boneheads in 2026 to say that isn’t good enough. Not that I want to give them any ideas, but won’t they also need to coin “grand gestating parent” “grand non-gestating parent”, etc.
Normal people need to tell them what to do with this. Let them slide, and they’ll do worse.
This is similar to "Newspeak" as descried in Orwell's 1984:
In 1984, "Newspeak" is the fictional language of Oceania, a totalitarian superstate. To meet the ideological requirements of Ingsoc (English Socialism) in Oceania, the Party created Newspeak, a controlled language of simplified grammar and restricted vocabulary designed to prevent people from being able to think critically. The Newspeak language thus limits the person's ability to articulate and communicate abstract concepts, such as personal identity, self-expression, and free will, which are "thoughtcrimes"-- acts of personal independence that contradict the ideological orthodoxy of Ingsoc collectivism.
Well, Happy Father’s Day, anyhow. I’m such a rebel.
Déjà vu all over again.
Déjà vu all over again.
Déjà vu all over again.

Mother and Father Replaced by Parent 1 and Parent 2
The words “mother” and “father” will be removed from U.S. passport applications and replaced with gender neutral terminology.

That’s not very inclusive of adoptive parents.

.
“Gestating parent” is a perfect complement to “chest-feeding parent.”
This ties in with the views that it is somehow offensive to suggest that only women are mothers , mothers are women, women are the only people who menstruate, fathers are male, etc.
This is the mindset of Ketanji Brown Jackson, who cannot define what a woman is. Such a mindset is not capable of critical thought processes in what appear to be straightforward matters.
