Rescuers are pleading for Nibi the beaver to remain in captivity until at least next spring. Following public outcry and pleas from her rescuers, a 2-year-old beaver named “Nibi” will not be released back into the wild Tuesday. More than 22,000 people have signed a petition to protect Nibi, who was raised at Newhouse Wildlife Rescue in Chelmsford after she was found orphaned on the side of a busy road. Now, a judge has dammed up wildlife officials’ plans to release Nibi into the wild, issuing a temporary restraining order.... Nibi’s plight went viral on social media Monday after Newhouse...

Hunter Biden's hotshot lawyer has been accused of involvement in a 'brazen coverup' and 'far-reaching conspiracy' to violate court orders, hide documents, and encourage a witness to lie under oath. Attorney Abbe Lowell is accused in court documents filed last Friday of secretly working for Middle East nation Qatar in a scheme to conceal communications about an alleged computer hacking plot. It is another example of Lowell getting embroiled in allegations of shady dealings with foreign nations – after emails published by DailyMail.com earlier this year showed the Justice Department scrutinized his links with suspected Chinese spies.

First son Hunter Biden has added a high-profile Washington defense attorney whose client roster includes a who’s-who of embattled politicians to his legal team as House Republicans plan to launch investigations into his overseas business dealings as soon as next month. Abbe Lowell will be responsible for coordinating the 52-year-old Hunter’s defense during the congressional probes that will begin after Republicans take over the House in the new year. “Hunter Biden has retained Abbe Lowell to help advise him and be part of his legal team to address the challenges he is facing,” Kevin Morris — another Hunter Biden lawyer...

Teachers at San Francisco’s Lowell High School gave freshman students significantly more D and F grades this past fall, the first semester after the school board eliminated the merit-based admissions it had relied on for decades. The lower grades, while expected by many, are likely to become part of a fervid debate over Lowell that touches on race, equity and achievement. The grades raise questions about how students — and the school’s teachers and administrators — are adapting to the changes. However, it’s unclear exactly how much the change in admissions policy factored into the rise in D’s and F’s...

“The university ended the employment of Dr. Neal-Boylan on June 19 after 10 months in her role as dean of the Solomont School of Nursing. As with all such decisions, it was made in the best interest of the university and its students.” The cancel culture that is rampant on American college campuses right now has just claimed another victim. A nursing dean at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, has reportedly been fired after saying in an email that “everyone’s life matters.” Where does this end?

The police chief of Lowell, Michigan, was forced to resign Thursday after using a Facebook post to praise four citizens who armed themselves to oppose looters. WOOD reports Chief Steven Bukala posted a photo of the four armed citizens and wrote, “So these fine young men called me today. They wanted to exercise their Second Amendment rights and walk down Main Street. They saw what happened in Grand Rapids. They said it’s not going to happen here. We have your backs. I thanked them for letting me know they were in town and to call if they see something.”

Besides the the elderly getting assaulted by “peaceful” protesters as CNN would put it, there isn’t much more humiliating or cringe than watching police officers across the country bow down to protesters in the name of equality or justice or white privilege or whatever the hell is going on but today, we have some good news. They don’t want you to take a knee – they demand it. They don’t want to get along with cops, they want to show the cops that they can get them to be submissive. A Lowell (MA) police officer was recently captured on film refusing their...

Once upon a time in America a presidential campaign was decided on the phrase “Rum, Romanism & Rebellion.” It was not exactly true, but it worked. Now, 125 years after that controversial campaign and election, the slogan shaping up for Democrats running against Donald Trump is another Triple R — “Russia, Race & Recession.” None of that is exactly true, either

Poor Duke. Here he was minding his own business, lecturing on government, and picking up trash along the roadways, as is his habit. And suddenly out of the blue along comes President Donald Trump, who trashed him for riding in a tank 30 years ago when Michael S. Dukakis, then governor of Massachusetts, was running for president

Police in Boston arrested three men they say posted fliers promoting white supremacy in East Boston including some posters that read, “Keep America American. Report any and all illegal aliens. They are not immigrants, they are criminals.” The three men were identified by police as 26-year-old Matthew Wolf of Lowell; 20-year-old Christopher Hood of Malden; and 18-year-old Tylar Larson of Rochester, New York. They were all arrested on either assault or weapons charges... “While on directed patrol in the area of the above-mentioned location due to recent reports of a group causing a disturbance while hanging posters which were upsetting...

The recent election of Republican Dean Tran of Fitchburg to the Massachusetts state Senate was an embarrassing rebuke to the state’s top Democrats, including U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Despite their opposition, Tran defeated Democrat Susan Chalifoux Zephir, a Leominster city councilor who had the support of the state’s Democrat Party hierarchy, as well as Charlene DiCalogero of Berlin an unenrolled candidate Claire Freda.

White House adviser and President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner has used a private email account to communicate with White House staffers, his attorney confirmed to ABC News. "Mr. Kushner uses his White House email address to conduct White House business. Fewer than a hundred emails from January through August were either sent to or returned by Mr. Kushner to colleagues in the White House from his personal email account," Kushner attorney Abbe Lowell said in a statement. Lowell said the emails were "usually forwarded news articles or political commentary" and "most often occurred" when someone "initiated the exchange by...

Although Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton may mot be happy with WikiLeaks’ release of emails coming from her and her staff, that doesn’t mean that she isn’t above doing the same thing herself. But unlike Julian Assange‘s group, she just doesn’t want her name associated with it. Newly-released Clinton emails confirm that the former secretary of state approved a plan in early 2015, shortly after her own email scandal broke, to fight fire with fire by publishing Republican lawmakers’ rejections of Freedom of Information Act [FOIA] requests for their own private emails. Although State Department emails are subject to FOIA...

A 60-year-old illegal immigrant wanted for killing a police officer in the Dominican Republic is behind bars after Lowell cops took him in at gunpoint, police said. Ramon Aguasviva-Mejia, who had recently lived in Lawrence, also has warrants out of Suffolk Superior Court for drug distribution. He is also wanted by Quincy District Court for felony assault, police said. Detectives from the Lowell Police Department’s Special Investigations Section had Aguasviva-Mejia under surveillance Sunday afternoon in Central Plaza on Church Street, but he spotted the tail and bolted, narrowly avoiding hitting the cops as he fled, police said.

Donald Trump went to Lowell, Mass. -- a town about five miles south of the New Hampshire border -- for one of his now-trademark big-arena rallies on Monday night. The building -- named after the late Massachusetts Sen. Paul Tsongas (D) -- holds 8,000 people, and local officials were estimating that it was filled to capacity or beyond. That is a MASSIVE amount of people -- especially considering that the high temperature in Lowell yesterday was 29 degrees and Trump's rally didn't start until the evening. I know that crowd size is an uncertain indicator in politics. After all, if...

A Summons to Courage and a Reminder of Victory in an Old Hymn Msgr. Charles Pope • June 14, 2015 • There is a lesser known hymn, at least in Catholic circles, that is remarkably appropriate for our times. It challenges us to see the choice before us soberly, and encourages us with the fact that the victory is already ours if we choose Christ Jesus. In times like these we need courage and conviction; this hymn serves as a powerful anthem to such a call. I would like to present the verses of the hymn and supply commentary throughout....

LANSING, MI -- A Republican presidential candidate hasn't won Michigan since 1988, but with 2016 on the horizon, GOP lawmakers are proposing bills that could help a second-place finisher win some electoral college votes here. • Rigging? State Rep. Cindy Gamrat, R-Plainwell, this month reintroduced legislation that would award Michigan's electoral college votes by Congressional District, ditching the winner-take-all model that most states use and diminishing the influence of large cities that can swing a vote. David Weigel of Bloomberg News, calling the bill part of the "electoral college-rigging movement," noted that Republican nominee Mitt Romney would have won nine...
