Teachers at San Francisco’s Lowell High School gave freshman students significantly more D and F grades this past fall, the first semester after the school board eliminated the merit-based admissions it had relied on for decades.
The lower grades, while expected by many, are likely to become part of a fervid debate over Lowell that touches on race, equity and achievement. The grades raise questions about how students — and the school’s teachers and administrators — are adapting to the changes.
However, it’s unclear exactly how much the change in admissions policy factored into the rise in D’s and F’s among Lowell’s ninth-graders, compared with other possible factors such as the pandemic.

The racist SF school board used the pandemic as an excuse and turned it into a lottery system that enabled more blacks and Hispanics to enroll. It was a key factor in those three racist school board members being recalled recently.
So SF destroyed one of its crown jewels of its school system for the sake of "diversity, inclusion, equity". DIE indeed.

It doesn’t matter. Kids these days have very little to dream for its all going to be gone. Why bother with school at all. I think the perfect year to have been born would have been 1935 ish.

One of my Filipino friends is a graduate from there. Eventually got his PHD from Brown. He wasn’t kidding when he said blacks are imbeciles. Yeah it sounds harsh, and he predicted this would happen that they would just pass the mexicans and blacks due to “racism” as an excuse.
Could be the teachers are rebelling. Next will be mandatory passing grades. How can it remain #1?
I guarantee you that is not the attitude of the Asian students and their families across this country. Academic achievement in ingrained into the fabric of Asian culture and I see this issue being the one that finally wakes the Asian voters the EFF up on why voting Dimm by 60%+ margins is self-defeating.
You want elite status? Be rich and don't send your kids to public schools.

This is the rub of it all. Many of the Asians students and their families who worked their asses off to get a slot at Lowell are lower middle-class or even outright poor. They used educational excellence as a way out. This is why racist blacks hate Asian excellence - because they wreck the phony narrative about being poor as the reason why so many black students do so poorly.
Excellent idea. The NBA has gotten away with discriminating against short people for far too long. It's high time we started letting some five footers on the teams.
We should lower the hoops as well so that short people can slam dunk just like the tall folks.
I'm pretty sure we have the technology to automatically lower and raise the hoops depending on the size of the player that currently has the ball. Just to make things fair.
What this really means is that students who would have gotten Ds and Fs at other schools are now getting them at Lowell. Students who would have been getting As and Bs at Lowell are now getting them at other schools.
The most important factor for students getting good grades is the quality of the student.
Well heck... the world is going to end in about ten years, right? That’s what we’re all told. Why even try? What’s the use... we’re already dead, right?

They will have to. It is pointless to lower admission standards to let in more minorities if they don't lower the grading standards as well; makes the minorities look bad.
We all know how this works; if grades are showing that these new minority students are failing, then we get rid of the grading system. Everybody wins a participation award and everybody goes home happy and Uneducated
Everyone in the whole world knows what the grades represent.
But lie instead. Then blow up civilization to prove your sincerity.
Liars, not just leftists, will sacrifice all to defend a lie that brings no gain. Every time.
