Newly-declassified memos written by disgraced FBI official Andrew McCabe shine new light on how he kept the Trump-Russia collusion hoax investigation alive during a critical period in the first half of 2017 before he got it handed off to a special counsel. The eight memos penned by McCabe, most of which had never been released until earlier this month, span his discussions and meetings (including with President Donald Trump) held from January 24, 2017 to May 21, 2017 — a critical time period ranging from just before the FBI sprung an interview on retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn to just...

‘If you look at Russia, yes, it’s obviously huge geographically, but the population is about 150 million people, about half the size of the US, and five times smaller than Europe. They’re big, but they’re weak, and they prove their weakness by the fact that they can’t even successfully wage war against a much weaker neighbor. So we have to stop being afraid of Russia or bowing down to Russia. We have to stand up to Russia, we have to protect Ukraine, support Ukraine, and if we do it right, it will all end well. It’s all about peace through...

WASHINGTON -- Four House Democratic lawmakers have traveled to El Salvador to call attention to the plight of a man the Trump administration deported to a Salvadoran prison and has refused to help return — even after the Supreme Court ruled that it was the government's duty to do so. Reps. Yassamin Ansari of Arizona, Maxine Dexter of Oregon, Maxwell Frost of Florida and Robert Garcia of California arrived in the Central American nation on Sunday to investigate the condition of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who had lived in the United States for more than a decade. The Trump administration deported...

Rep. Jamie Raskin threatened foreign leaders who “facilitated authoritarianism in our country” by currying favor with President Trump on issues like deportation — saying that Democrats will not “look kindly” on his supporters when they “come back to power.” Referencing El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele specifically, Raskin (D-Md.), 62, suggested that Dems should keep score of foreign leaders who brownnose Trump, 78, during his second term. “Implicit in it should be the idea that if and when we come back to power — and we will — we are not going to look kindly upon people who … facilitated authoritarianism...

Senator Chis Van Hollen (D-MD) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that President Donald Trump is a lawless president ignoring the Supreme Court in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Van Hollen said, “What Donald Trump is trying to do here is change the subject. The subject at hand is that he and his administration are defying a court order to give people to give Abrego Garcia his due process rights. They are trying to litigate on social media what they should be doing in the courts. They need to put up or shut up in the courts....

Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s, D-Md., sudden trip to El Salvador to try to free deportee Kilmar Abrego Garcia is getting the attention of critics who believe the Maryland Democrat may have violated a 1799 law prohibiting unauthorized diplomacy. The Logan Act – named for former Pennsylvania Sen. George Logan – stipulates a fine and/or imprisonment for Americans corresponding with foreign officials "with intent to influence the[ir] measures … in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States." Logan met with French diplomat Charles de Talleyrand after Paris rebuffed President...

Maryland Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen, who is championing the jailed illegal migrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia, has some loud American advice for El Salvador’s government: “They should just let him go.” The advice was delivered at a safe press conference in the United States, far from the busy streets of the Latin American country that until recently was wracked by MS-13 gangsters. The gang violence was wiped off the streets when the voters elected President Nayib Bukele with a mandate to restore law and order in their small country.

The Santa Clara County Office of Education and the Santa Clara County Board of Education are co-sponsoring a California bill that would establish school campuses as safe havens from immigration enforcement activity, as fears around deportations and arrests ramp up in Bay Area communities amid the Trump administration’s crackdown on noncitizens. Introduced by Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi, a Democrat who represents Torrance, AB 49 — the California Safe Haven Schools Act — would prohibit school employees from allowing immigration officers on campuses without a warrant or approval from school officials. The bill would also require immigration officers who are allowed on...

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Wednesday that his state will file a lawsuit challenging President Donald Trump's authority to impose sweeping tariffs that have set off a global trade war. The suit will argue that Trump's use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China or a 10% tariff on all imports is unlawful. The act enables a president to freeze and block transactions in response to foreign threats.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) declared he is headed to El Salvador if a man mistakenly deported to a megaprison in the country isn’t “quickly returned.” Van Hollen joined CNN’s Kate Bolduan on Tuesday after sending a letter to the El Salvadoran ambassador asking for the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. The Trump administration previously admitted Garcia was deported by “error” to El Salvador, but continues to insist he is an MS-13 gang member that it has no power to retrieve. The Supreme Court has asked that it “facilitate” Garcia’s return. Garcia is not a convicted gang member, and his...

Kelly’s trip comes just days before Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to meet with Ukrainian officials on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia. (Update: Conflicting reports on whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is in Saudi Arabia on Monday, will stay for the meetings. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will also be in Saudi Arabia meetings.) Amazingly, in a statement on his visit to...
