The “Ghost of Kyiv” is a myth, Ukrainian officials admitted over the weekend. After several news outlets last week identified the legendary, mysterious, hero fighter pilot as a 29-year-old dad recently killed in battle with the Russians, military officials acknowledged Saturday that there was no such person. “The ghost of Kyiv is a superhero-legend, whose character was created by Ukrainians!” Ukraine’s Air Force Command wrote on Facebook. The reputed hero had been credited with taking out as many as 40 Russian aircraft until he was shot down March 13 while battling an “overwhelming” number of enemy forces, the Times of...

The next pandemic could be deadlier and wreak more havoc than the COVID-19 crisis, a vaccine researcher has warned. Sarah Gilbert, a professor at the University of Oxford whose team developed the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, cautioned that while it’s clear that the current pandemic is “not done with us,” the next health threat could pose a greater danger, the BBC reported. “This will not be the last time a virus threatens our lives and our livelihoods. The truth is, the next one could be worse. It could be more contagious, or more lethal, or both,” she told the outlet. Gilbert said...

Man shot by Kyle Rittenhouse reacts to gunman’s emotional testimony The lone survivor shot by Kyle Rittenhouse in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year said Thursday that he believes the teen’s emotional display at his murder trial was mostly about him being “upset that he was caught” for the shootings. Gaige Grosskreutz, 27, a paramedic shot in the arm, said it was “emotional” to watch Rittenhouse, 18, testify about injuring him and killing two other men last summer as riots broke out in the city over racial injustice.

Kyle Rittenhouse struggled to stay focused and yawned throughout his homicide trial Tuesday in Wisconsin that will decide whether he spends his life behind bars for a triple shooting. Rittenhouse, 18, let out several yawns as lawyers from both sides prepared to give opening statements in a Kenosha court about him fatally shooting two men and wounding a third during last year’s protests over police brutality. He yawned often during the proceedings, including when he stood for jurors to enter the courtroom and when his own lawyer began his opening remarks. The day earlier during jury selection, the teen also...

A renowned UFO investigator claims to have debunked the US Navy footage of pyramid-shaped objects flying off the coast of California — saying it “in every way, matches a plane.” Mick West, who is the author of “Escaping the Rabbit Hole,” said that there are plausible explanations for the three, flashing UFOs seen hovering over the USS Russell in July 2019. “What we’ve got to go here with here is the simplest explanation and really the simplest explanation is that it’s just a plane. It moves like a plane, it acts like a plane,” West told The Post. He said...

A New Jersey man’s body was pulled from 1,565 feet underwater after he drowned in Lake Tahoe, Nevada — the deepest known recovery in US history, authorities said. Police said Normoyle drowned last month after he recorded himself jumping off his rented boat then was unable to swim fast enough to catch up with the vessel, which he left in gear.

The state changed their locks, but that didn’t stop a New Jersey diner from inviting patrons to eat inside, despite coronavirus restrictions. A group of Black Lives Matter protesters in Seattle are claiming that they’re being priced out of their civil rights by the prohibitive costs of defending themselves against police violence. The lawsuit filed Monday in federal court alleges that the repeated use of force by the Seattle Police Department has made it impossible for them to exercise their right to protest without pricey personal protective gear. “Because protesters now must purchase expensive equipment to be assured that they will be able to protest safely, the indiscriminate use of weapons by SPD implicates equal protection,” the lawsuit says.

“Not to discount the situation, and someone needs to be reprimanded for it but I feel like we could’ve handled this like adults, it created a very threatening situation for this store,” she said.
