Apple is saying it “missed the mark” with a controversial ad for its new iPad Pro. Apple’s vice president of marketing communications, Tor Myhren, said in a statement to AdAge, “Creativity is in our DNA at Apple, and it’s incredibly important to us to design products that empower creatives all over the world. Our goal is to always celebrate the myriad of ways users express themselves and bring their ideas to life through iPad.” “We missed the mark with this video, and we’re sorry,” he added. AdAge reported that Apple no longer plans to air the ad on TV. On...

Apple on Tuesday introduced a new chip called the M4 that it said would outclass personal computers designed for artificial intelligence - but put the new chip in an iPad Pro model rather than a laptop. -- "The neural engine makes M4 an outrageously powerful chip for AI," Tim Millet, vice president of platform architecture at Apple, said during the presentation. "In fact, with this level of performance, the neural engine and M4 is more powerful than any neural processing unit in any AI PC today."

The two bugs were found in the iOS Kernel (CVE-2024-23225) and RTKit (CVE-2024-23296), both allowing attackers with arbitrary kernel read and write capabilities to bypass kernel memory protections. While Apple has not released information regarding ongoing exploitation in the wild, iOS zero-day vulnerabilities are commonly used in state-sponsored spyware attacks against high-risk individuals, such as journalists, opposition politicians, and dissidents.

A brazen “porch pirate” took matters into his own hands – right from those of a stunned FedEx worker. Doorbell footage obtained by WRIC captured a man approaching a delivery driver as she walked toward a home in Chesterfield, Virginia, holding a package containing an iPad. At the last second, the bold bandit snatches the package right out of her hands and bolts off to his car – a white BMW, no less. The homeowner, Jessica Saenz, was working at home at the time of the shocking Thursday heist. “I was in a meeting and then the FedEx lady started...

I have media files stored on a PC running Windows 10 Pro and also available for storage on a PC or laptop running Linux Mint. Photos, music files, videos, PDF books, and other eBooks. I would like to be able to access those files and view/listen to them on an iPad. It sounds like this is possible, but I was wondering if anyone has suggested ways to do this, along with any pitfalls to watch out for.

The huge protests engulfing China right now against lockdowns have left a lot of people wondering if these are just protests. The size, and scope, and vehemence, and fearlessness of the Chinese public against their very oppressive communist masters has made them appear to be a mass movement. In Shanghai, they are calling for the ouster of the entire Communist Party of China. When a billion-strong nation rises up on a cause that has unified them such as this, there's clearly the scent of revolution in the air. The New York Times did a huge spread on the matter this...

The company which is Apple’s most important chip supplier, said it expects revenue to be between $19.8 billion and $20.6 billion in the third quarter, surging from $14.8 billion in the same period last year. However, TSMC CEO CC Wei said that some of the company’s capital expenditure would be “pushed out into 2023.” He cited “greater challenges in the supply chains” which is extending delivery times for some chipmaking equipment. The strong results and outlook but caution on spending highlights the careful path chipmakers are walking at a time of concern about rising prices and the impact on consumer...

I have to say I enjoy the smell of liberal tears in the morning. Or afternoon, evening or night. Those tears are flooding the airwaves and it's fabulous- and sad at the same time. Progressives have pushed people too far with their lunatic actions and people are getting weary of it. The horse is dead, but they continue to beat it. They've run out of cogent thoughts and arguments (which were in short supply anyway), so leftists whip out the sad little things they have in hopes of keeping you down under their thumbs of guilt. The race card. The...

Apple’s struggles with zero-day attacks on its iOS and macOS platforms are showing no signs of slowing down. For the second time in as many months, Cupertino released iOS, iPadOS and macOS updates to address a critical WebKit security defect (CVE-2022-22620) that exposes Apple devices to remote code execution attacks. “Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited,” the company said in a barebones advisory. As is customary, Apple did not provide details on the scope of the attack, the platform being targeted,...

Four suspects walked into the Apple store just after 11:30 a.m. in Santa Rosa, 55 miles north of San Francisco, and stole more than $20,000 worth of merchandise in broad daylight in front of customers and staff, authorities said.

KEY POINTS: Apple revenue fell short of Wall Street expectations in its fiscal fourth quarter on Thursday, which Apple CEO Tim Cook attributed to larger-than-expected supply constraints. Apple’s overall revenue was still up 29% on an annual basis and each of its product categories grew on an annual basis. Apple hasn’t provided official guidance since the start of the pandemic, but Cook said Apple expects “solid year-over-year revenue growth” in the December quarter despite the fact Apple will face worse supply constraints. _____________________________________________________________________ Apple revenue fell short of Wall Street expectations in its fiscal fourth quarter on Thursday, which Apple...

Last September, when Arm trotted out the Neoverse V1 design and made it available, the N2 design was not yet available. But as of this announcement, today, it is. Apple just launched its first custom processor for computers. The M1 chip is similar to the A-series processors inside the iPhone and iPad, and it powers just two devices: The late 2020 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. And yet, Intel is still terrified, having mounted a massive ad campaign in an attempt to convince the world that the M1 MacBooks can’t stand up to Windows 10 laptops running on Intel hardware. The campaign was somewhat half-baked, and has since drawn criticism and ridicule for its missteps. The M1 MacBooks offer formidable performance and excellent battery life, with M1 being built...
