Pres. Trump Goodbye Speech Scheduled for 1600.

The avalanche of sexual harassment claims, with new ones pouring forth daily, leads me to the wisdom of George Washington's observation in his farewell address in 1796: "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. ... And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be managed without religion." You may say, "There you go again, Star. Waving your Bible." But is there a better answer for dealing with this problem? Society, all human life, is guided by rules. The only question before us is: What are the rules...

Video. Clinton spoke for 7 minutes, 25 seconds; Reagan spoke for 20 minutes, 42 seconds; and George W. Bush spoke for 13 minutes, 7 seconds. Obama spoke for 51 minutes, 10 seconds, nearly 10 minutes longer than the other three put together. Obama also broke from the tradition of delivering his final speech from the White House. Clinton and Reagan both spoke from the Oval Office, and George W. Bush spoke in front of a small audience in the White House East Room; the Obama administration distributed public tickets for his speech at the McCormick Place convention center in Chicago....

How can we miss him when he won't go away? Last night in Chicago, Obama was lucky he didn't throw out his shoulder from patting himself on the back so much. [Snip] "Hello Chicago," he began. "It's good to be home." Home? His first lie, at 9:02 p.m.. "We have shown the capacity to change." As we did on Nov. 8. And now, Jan. 20 will mark the end of an error. Ten minutes in, he finally got around to blaming Bush. In a rush, Obama mentioned how he "shut down Iran’s nuclear capacity without firing a shot." Yeah, right....

The weekend before President Obama’s planned farewell address was a good one by Chicago’s violent standards — only one person was killed by gunfire and eight others were wounded. As Mr. Obama returns home Tuesday to deliver his final speech as president, Chicago is in the grips of a soaring homicide rate and reeling from a horrific black-on-white torture hate crime that was captured on video. Over Christmas weekend, 12 Chicagoans were killed in a total of 27 shootings. Amid criticism that the president and his former chief of staff, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, have failed for eight years to address...

It was an unseasonably mild day for Washington in January, 2013. Barack Hussein Obama stood presidentially but grimly in a dark overcoat, unadorned by a Presidential flag and unaccompanied by his wife. She had prior holiday commitments on the Costa del Sol in Spain, where it was known she had several good and welcoming friends. For the Obamas and for the left in America, the unthinkable had happened. We who had finally gotten who ‘we had been waiting for,’ were not waiting for anything anymore but the departure of he who had brought America hope and change. So much hope...

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on...

Did Obama Skip Bush's Speech? Posted by Michelle Levi (CBS)As his predecessor, President Bush, said his final goodbyes to America on national television, President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle dined at the DC restaurant, Equinox Thursday night. CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic, who waited outside the restaurant, reports that there is no indication whether or not Mr. Obama was watching President Bush's farewell remarks. The President-elect departed the Blair house, located right across the street from the White House podium from which the president spoke, minutes before President Bush commenced. A host at the restaurant tells CBS News' that the...

There is a number of ways to describe how it feels to sit a few feet from the leader of the free world in the Oval Office at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in an informal, free-wheeling meeting with the President. Overwhelming. Surreal. Amazing. Educational. Inspirational. Most of all, one is consumed with a feeling of incredible gratitude that this privilege and opportunity has been extended. I suppose the only thing more thrilling than spending an hour and fifteen minutes with a handful of my talk radio colleagues in the Oval Office this week for a combination on-the-record/off-the-record visit with the President...

The three network morning shows on Friday almost totally skipped any coverage of President Bush's farewell address to the country on Thursday. Despite having a combined eight hours of air time, NBC's "Today," CBS's "Early Show" and ABC's "Good Morning America" devoted only 55 seconds total to reporting on Bush's speech. Instead, important topics such as "Obama thongs" and cheddar biscuits were highlighted. Over a period of two hours, "The Early Show" ignored the speech entirely. "Good Morning America," which has a similar running time, allowed a mere 17 seconds. The "Today" show, which now encompasses four hours of broadcast...

WASHINGTON — President Bush said goodbye to the American people on Thursday night, declaring in his final address to the nation that while he had had some setbacks during his turbulent eight years in office, “I have followed my conscience and done what I thought was right.” The 13-minute address, delivered from the East Room of the White House before an audience of 200, including 50 invited guests and members of Mr. Bush’s cabinet, was a somber end to an administration that, by Mr. Bush’s own account, did not always go according to plan. “Like all who have held this...

This unbylined Associated Press story (HT Michelle Malkin) doesn't really require any elaboration, except to note one thing -- It ends the debate over the existence of liberal/left media bias:
