Did Obama Skip Bush's Speech? Posted by Michelle Levi

(CBS)As his predecessor, President Bush, said his final goodbyes to America on national television, President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle dined at the DC restaurant, Equinox Thursday night.

CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic, who waited outside the restaurant, reports that there is no indication whether or not Mr. Obama was watching President Bush's farewell remarks.

The President-elect departed the Blair house, located right across the street from the White House podium from which the president spoke, minutes before President Bush commenced.

A host at the restaurant tells CBS News' that the President-elect stopped by the only television in the high end establishment, a small screen at the bar, and watched for "a minute or two." The source said he did not notice what Mr. Obama was watching but that "no" it was not for an extended period of time.

No one from Obama's transition team has responded to CBS News' inquiries as to whether he was watching the address.

CBS News' Bill Plante describes Equinox as, "a sophisticated new American food from award-winning chef Todd Grey and a clientele of Washington insiders."

Verrrrrrrrrry disrespectful (and very calcultedly public) disregard for a man who is going to "restore decency and integrity" like Bill Clinton did...these feels like a mini-mite, lilliputian man with an ego the sizf the Grand Canyon putting on a public show...

Not surprising coming from this pandered-to, affirmative action’d/non-accomplishment couple. It’s all about them, always has been, always will be.

Time to get a bumper sticker with a BIG picture of Obama on it and put it upside down on my bumper...on second thought, how ‘bout on the backside of a few urinals.

Don’t worry I’ll be skipping every one of BO’s speeches. I will not give him a second of my time, interest or concern.

Make sure it’s a skinny black tie and take along a black pork-pie hat and wrap-around shades so you can switch from MLK to Blues Brothers to Reservoir Dogs as the situation requires.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder

If it's not about Barack, it's not important enough to care about.

This guy has done nothing to change my low opinion of him. I keep waiting to see evidence that he’s not a socialist slacker. Still waiting.

Any similarity to Bill and Hillary? Watch and you will see more.

“a sophisticated new American food from award-winning chef Todd Grey and a clientele of Washington insiders.”

When Bush was in office, we were roused to despise these jet-setters, whooshing around in their planes and dining out while the workers starved in the streets.

Now, we're being shown how sophisticated and with-it our Beloved Leader is. I guess we're supposed to associate him with the Important People now, and see him as being able to swing with the big-time players.

What a difference a few months of bad job reports makes.

They had reservations, dammit, why didn’t Bush check with the Obama schedulers before setting the time for his speech? And I get the feeling you don’t want to p!ss off Michelle when she’s hungry.

“Narcissistic Personality Disorder”

I think so - reminiscent of Clinton tying up LAX to get his hair cut - it was devastaing to travelers and business - cost of millions to us all - missed connections, late appointments, traffic snarls - a business day and he tied it up for hours...I think Obomber is the same guy...except more dangerous and more calculating...
