AS VEGAS — LG Electronics Inc, hoping to tide through a global economic downturn and emerge stronger, wants to keep up spending and unveil new products to boost its North American presence. From a watchphone reminiscent of James Bond gadgets to a dozen new high-definition TVs, the South Korean tech giant introduced a slew of new products at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Wednesday and vowed to keep developing more to shore up its premium branding.

Muskogee, Okla -- The tipster who helped crack the case of a beheaded 4-year-old girl went to police with his suspicions nearly a year ago and recently tricked the child's mother into providing a hair sample that he taped to a photograph and mailed to Kansas City, a community activist said Friday. Police would not comment on what role the hair sample may have played in the arrests of Michelle M. Johnson, 30, and Harrell Johnson, 25, the girl's stepfather. A man pleaded guilty today to charges that he filled out phony voter registration cards in the name of Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy, Michael Jordan and George Foreman.Chad Staton, 22, faces up to a year in prision and a $2,500.00 fine on each of the 10 counts of false registration at his sentencing April 13.
