The four of us are going to D.C. for vacation... my son is leaving July 16 for basic to Lackland AFB, Texas and want to take him to DC to see the sights. Regarding the Mall, what are recommended items to bring to watch the fire works? Is there a best place to see the fireworks? Are there bands playing as well? Does it fill up and/or what time should we arrive for a decent seat? Does the Metro run late? We're staying in Crystal City. Also, we'd like to visit Walter Reed, but I think maybe just to protest...

On June 22, FReepers from DC Chapter and beyond, together with allies, gathered outside the main gate of Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WR) for our weekly support the troops FReep. At the same time, the cruel Code Pinkos and their fellow travelers assembled a block away to continue their vicious taunting of wounded troops, but they bombed out yet again. Here is a web page describing background for the FReep, including the intense hatred that the venomous Pinkos have for our troops, except those troops who join Pinko efforts. Some photos from past FReeps will be added to the...

Hard Ball with Ann Coulter as a guest is live today outside of the MSNBC Washington DC studio. Before the program went live Chris Mathews joked that perhaps they would draw a bigger crowd if we were beheading Ann Coulter. The crowd was silent as was Ann Coulter after his remark so he repeated it! Still crickets from the audience.

We out numbered the 6 moonbats today. FReepers and Lurkers in attendance today were Lurker Bill, (aka Lurker Bill from MD on Walter Reed AARs), and daughter, BufordP, Fraxinus, Kristinn, GunsAreOK, R.T. Delta, VicotryNY, the better half of the 'Trooprally' screen name, ([Mrs] T), and myself ([Mr] T). Pictures are by [Mrs] T and R.T. Delta. We set up at our regular time, 10AM, and waited for the moonbats to show up. Then a mysterious FReeper (BELOW LEFT) appeared on the moonbats corner. When the moonbats started to show up, one young-challenged moonbat (BELOW RIGHT) pointed out the correct corner...

In an interview published in today's New York Times Sunday Magazine, Kristin Gore, daughter of former Vice President Al Gore, claims the Gores were 'under siege' by 'bussed in' protesters outside the Vice President's residence in Washington, D.C. during the 2000 presidential election Florida recount as Gore fought to win the presidency from then Texas Governor George W. Bush.Gore says the protesters' cries of "Get Out of Cheney's House" (a reference to Bush's vice presidential nominee, Dick Cheney, who would take residence there upon being inaugurated) drove her mother, Tipper, to play nature sounds on a CD player to distract...

WASHINGTON, DC, June 15, 2007— Imitation, they say, is the sincerest form of flattery. In the two and a half years that the DC Chapter of Free Republic has been FReeping (counterprotesting) a group of CodePink-sponsored anti-war protesters at Walter Reed, their "vigil" has gradually sought to look more and more like our FReep. First, after pressure from us and exposure in the conservative media, they relinquished their bloody protest signs for patently insincere "Support the Troops" signs. Next, when most of the passersby beeped for us, they ditched their desecrated U.S. flags for the genuine Stars'n'Stripes. This week, they...

DC Chapter dusted off our old anti-Hillary signs, made some new ones, and FReeped the former Wicked Witch of the West Wing. This was at her Club 44 (she would be the 44th President) campaign event in Washington, DC on June 6, 2007 per this announcement. Over four years ago, former First Lady and junior Senator from New York, Hillary Rodham Clinton embarked on a tour promoting her Living History book. The book was about the great achievements (Midnight Basketball) and failures (healthcare, Waco, Whitewater, Elian?) of the Clinton administration, together with The Bill and Hill Soap Opera (Monica et...

This FReep was marked by a number of soldiers and employees of Walter Reed stopping by to tell us how much they appreciated our Friday evening Rallies. We've been doing this every Friday for over two years now. I've been with the FReepers since August of 2005, so my own two-year anniversary is coming up soon. During this time the other FReepers and I have spoken with a few hundred of our wounded warriors and their families. Their response has been overwhelmingly positive. From them and other sources we know that most everyone at the hospital knows what we do...

While we all are familiar with media bias, sometimes the audacity of the media's mendacity needs to be highlighted. Such is the case with The Washington Post's video report of Sen. Background For those who haven't followed this over the years, FReepers from DC Chapter and beyond, joined by allies, have been outside the gates of Walter Reed to support our troops for over two years. Friday, May 25, was FReep #110 as FReepers have countered the U.S. enemy-supporting anti-troop hate group Code Pink and allies at their weekly obscene anti-war blood dance outside Walter Reed Army Medical Center. On March 15, 2004, there was a preliminary skirmish, more than a year before the regular dueling protests between FReepers and Pinkos started. The leftists, including many Pinkos, protested at Walter Reed as...

109 weeks. Seems like a long time. Heck, it HAS been a long time. But not so long when you get to hang with such a great group of like-minded people. Light up a cigar. Talk (or rant) about what was posted on FreeRepublic the past week. Rant about all the ridiculous legislation proposed by Congress and/or the Whitehouse in recent days. Or just discuss general political philosphy. Tell jokes. Yuck it up. At least that's what I do. It's cathartic. Better than plopping down on the couch and watching TV Friday nights. Not better than shootin' pool and...

Walter Reed FReep #108 - A Really Noisy Night!Washington, DC, May 11, 2007 -- Honks, honks, and more honks! Even a pedestrian walking by said "If I had a car I'd be honking." It's an amazing thing to see (hear) so much support for a patriotic display in such a liberal town! I don't think it was just the excellent weather but a very real appreciation for the men and women living and working inside Walter Reed. Here are a few images from the celebration (the whole collection can be viewed here.) Craig from DC* and BillF Tom the...
