Walter Reed FReep #109, NO! ... THANK YOU!

109 weeks. Seems like a long time. Heck, it HAS been a long time. But not so long when you get to hang with such a great group of like-minded people. Light up a cigar. Talk (or rant) about what was posted on FreeRepublic the past week. Rant about all the ridiculous legislation proposed by Congress and/or the Whitehouse in recent days. Or just discuss general political philosphy. Tell jokes. Yuck it up. At least that's what I do. It's cathartic. Better than plopping down on the couch and watching TV Friday nights. Not better than shootin' pool and drinkin' beer. But not too far off.
Then a Walter Reed patient happens by and says, "THANKS!" or "OORRAHH!". That's when you forget about all the other things you could be doing on a Friday night. Spending a few hours on the corner showing support for the troops seems such a small way of showing gratitude for what they are doing on our behalf. All of us are so humbled everytime they thank us that we quickly respond, "NO! ... THANK YOU!". I'm glad I'm here.
So is the rest of the DC Chapter and local lurkers. We even had two Freepers from Jersey make the trip down just for one night: RocksBlues and JMaronePS37. Thanks for coming down youse guys!
Honor roll: Bill from Olney*, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Mr & Mrs Trooprally, kristinn, GunsAreOK, Tom the RedHunter, Cindy-True-Supporter, Fraxinus, VAFlagWaver, Laura Bush*, ChickenHawk and family, Bob (Walter Reed patient), RocksBlues, JMaronePS37, George* and Ethel*, Sensei Ern, Albion Wilde (* lurkers)
A little background on the moron wearing a blue shirt and cowboy hat in one of the pics below. I don't know what conversation went down between him, lurker Bill, and the other fellow. They were across the street from me. I didn't know he was a MORON until he crossed the street to talk with us and asked how we felt about Cheney and Haliburton making huge sums of money over the war. He says, "Let's discuss the facts...". I interupted, "Yeah, let's duscuss the facts like the moon is made of green cheese. Are those the kind of facts you want to discuss, BOZO?!" He left.

how we felt about Cheney and Haliburton making huge sums of money over the war. Ask them "How much money?". They usually gag on that one. Liberals are long on ideas and short on details. I am always amazed at their desire to talk about issues they know so little about.

Thanks for the report and the link for those in Rio Linda. ChickenHawk was a little down but I think you got back up with you exchanges on libertarian vs. conservative discussions. Took his mind off the fact that serious people are no longer in Congrees or the executive branch. Newt Gingrich is predicting a revolution over at
Hot Air see update #3. If Newtie hadn't tripped over his crank, things would be a lot more interesting.

Give my thanks to all the DC freepers for their dedication to our troops.

I've done that too. I've asked why Cheney would leave a 6-7 figure salary job to make $250K as VP if it's about the money. I just didn't want to give this idiot the time of day.
But I have to correct you on one thing. They're NOT long on ideas. They're long on complaints. But you knew that. And I know that you knew that.

Yes, that was a sad day for America to see Newt marginalized that way. We sure needed his leadership the last 10 years.
Thanks so much for standing in the gap for our soldiers!!!
I’m proud to know the DC freepers, I hope to join you again soon!!

Thanks! Youse guys are the best. Will try to make a couple more trips this summer. I seem to be on somebody’s ping list occasionally, could you make sure that I am?

BufordP - Thanks for the great report. Even though I was there, one doesn't get around to much, so its good to hear what is happening on the other corners.
RocksBlues & JMaronePS37 - Thanks for coming down and it was a pleasure meeting you both.
I had a real good time talking to former Marine, JMaronePS37. We talked for most of the time he was there, about the Marines, GoE I, the Marines, and the moonbats.
Looking forward to this weekend. It will be a long one. [Mr] T
