Other sources and articles say the shooter shouted "free Gaza" before shooting. No connections are said to be evident between the murdered victim and the 23 year old shooter.

The News about this guy appeared to be going down the news rabbit hole and of course the Charlie Kirk memorial service had the nation's attention. So I found the name of the 23 year old shooter but not much else yet. Tangentially I think this was an attempt to blunt the Kirk memorial effects by some nut. I don't think the motivations for and the carrying out of the shooting was just a one off random event.

I think you are barking up the wrong tree with that statement. The people you’ve cited would definitely not be sola scriptura in the way a Berean would be as St Paul himself commended them as being thus in practice and belief.

“Extra-scriptura” traditions and beliefs are quite common with the ROMAN catholics, in addition to the Swedenborgians, Unitarians and Christian Scientists. It is good at least that the ROMAN catholics aren’t officially anti Pauline.
Those who are truly Berean in the modern world in their approach to sola scriptura would base such an approach thru the study of the scriptures directly. They would recognize that the Bereans of Paul’s day had only the Old Testament and perhaps the some first early gospel books, or partials passed around and copies of Paul’s letters, such as were available. They had the teachings and doctrines laid down by Paul and the apostles but they did have the Old Testament by which they tested the doctrines to see if they were true.

In our day, since we have a Bible that includes the writings of Paul as scripture, modern Bereans include Paul’s writings as scripture sources as they can look thru them to the Old Testament where Paul sources his arguments in his assertion that Jesus was and is the Christ come in the flesh as fore told in the Old testament.

I have noted on Facebook many attempts to diminish Paul’s stature as a true apostle with some arguing that he is like many modern writers of Christian books(catholic or Protestant)and apologetics.The anti-Paulists oft will claim that he may have some helpful hints and has a compelling story as to how he came to faith but that we must conclude that he wasn’t a real apostle ...”just another CS Lewis perhaps or an Augustine”, some arguing that he’s no better than any of the dime a dozen Christian bookstore authors.
