In ancient times the Iranians were geniuses at water management. They dug underground tunnels called qanats, that could carry water for miles without evaporation. And they built the air vents in ways that kept the water cold, too. Look how far they have fallen!

Mongolia used to have a monk that they called the Living Buddha. Then in 1921 the communists took over the country. Three years later the Living Buddha died. By then the communist leader was a dictator named Choibalsan, who acted very much like Joseph Stalin. He declared that the Living Buddha had gone to Nirvana, and there would be no more incarnations. Buddhism in Mongolia hasn’t been the same since then. I suspect the Chinese government will try to do the same thing with the Dalai Lama.

If I ever write anything about Cory Booker, like an essay or an article for a magazine, I will include a photo of him with crazy eyes, since that seems to be how he normally looks.

And to think that when California joined the Union in 1850, it was originally a free state, and that caused a controversy that almost started the Civil War eleven years early.

I am sure the current number of climate change-related deaths are nowhere near the numbers from past natural disasters, like the Little Ice Age of Justinian’s Plague.

The last time world climates warmed up like this, it was good for humanity in the long run. We call it the “Medieval Warming Period,” and it lasted from about 800 to 1259 A.D. Longer growing seasons supported bigger harvests, and fewer crops were killed off by frosts. That meant the world could feed more people, until the Little Ice Age and the Black Death came along after 1300.

If any of the immigrants currently coming in showed a tendency to vote Republican, like the Cubans, would the Democrats change their mind and try to keep them out?

Since this conflict is almost two years old, and we know how Hamas treated the hostages we know about, I will be surprised if ANY of the hostages they might still be holding are alive.

Regarding NJ Democrats in general, if they had acted like this in 1860, New Jersey probably would have seceded from the Union and joined the Confederacy.
