The Minnesota Court of Appeals held up a statute that defines BB guns as firearms when it comes to prohibited persons. The decision comes as bad news for defendant David Lee Haywood, 37, who was found guilty of possessing a firearm and now faces a five-year sentence. The North Carolina legislature has seen fit to remove restrictions that forbid  children under the age of 12 from using BB guns and air rifles without supervision.  I am not sure when such a law was put into place;  it seems that such a decision is best left up to parents.  I learned to use an air rifle when I was 11, and was very responsible with it.   What is peculiar about this law is that it only applies to some counties and not others.  There are 100 counties in North Carolina.  The statute formerly applied to 17 counties;...

GRAND FORKS, British Columbia - Christian owners of a bed and breakfast in British Columbia have been ordered to pay around $4,500 in damages after they refused to rent a room to a homosexual couple. Citizens of Odessa can now rest easy. BB guns are banned in public between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. after the Odessa City Council last week passed an ordinance pushed by Police Chief Tim Burton. A 23-year-old Menomonee Falls man is facing charges after he was caught driving through the village with a concealed BB gun in his car. Daniel J. Keane was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of carrying a concealed weapon. If convicted, he faced up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines. An amendment to the state pneumatic gun law that went into effect July 1 overrides ordinances in Henry County and Martinsville. The amendment bars any state locality “from adopting an ordinance that prohibits the shooting of pneumatic guns on private property, with permission of the owner of the property, if reasonable care is taken to prevent a projectile from crossing the bounds of the property.” The bill also invalidates any local ordinances that conflict with it.
