Joe Bob's America: Slamming MohammedBy Joe Bob Briggs Published 6/24/2002 3:04 PM NEW YORK, June 24 (UPI) -- Now this is ironic. On the same day the Catholics were meeting in Dallas to try to get rid of pedophiles in the church, a Baptist guy from Florida was calling Mohammed a pedophile. The Rev. Jerry Vines -- is that a great Baptist name or what? -- actually called Mohammed a "demon-possessed" pedophile, which summons up an image of a cloven-hoofed satyr with long fingernails peering into a baby crib as he froths at the mouth. To be fair to...

Even when she was being duped, Ann Landers gave great advice. Just last month, Landers published a letter in her syndicated column that afforded headline writers across the country the opportunity to put variations on the phrase "nude slumber party" in boldface. In her home paper, the Chicago Tribune, the headline was: "Nude slumber party? Obvious question is, 'Why?' " Bergen County (N.J.) Record: "Puzzled by a nude teen sleepover" Contra Costa Times: "Nude party is barely understandable" Montreal Gazette: "Nude slumber party worries mother" Toronto Star: "Appeal of nude slumber parties escapes mom" These were just a few of...

The new single European currency has been under pressure since its launch in 1999 because of the strength of the dollar. In the past three months, however, the Euro has gained around 10 percent in value on the dollar because doubts about developments in the United States are increasing. On June 22, the euro hit $0.97, its highest point since March 2000. Europe's currency recently was also able to improve its rate against the yen, pound and numerous other currencies. That indicates that a new valuation of the single currency is apparently taking place on the financial markets. Since the...

Radio hosts dance on Westmoreland’s grave City Editorial On topics like tax policy, welfare and TennCare, local talk radio personalities like Phil Valentine and Steve Gill are champions of what they refer to as "personal responsibility." On the morning following the death of state Rep. Keith Westmoreland, however, Gill and Valentine vehemently denied any responsibility for Westmoreland’s disgrace and suicide. We think their denials carry the distinctive odor of hypocrisy. In an emotional speech last Thursday, Rep. Chris Newton (R-District 22) accused the news media of hounding Westmoreland to death. While Newton’s words should sting any journalist with a conscience,...

I'll start with the praise report. Six months ago, a friend of mine was in a bad accident. He fell on his head. That, in combination with a stroke at about the same time, has left him virtually a vegetable. Every week, during my lunch break, I go to the hospital and visit him for a few minutes, asking yes and no questions. Well, on my visit last week, the speech therapist was with him and he was able to talk a little. He remembers my name (my real name, not my FR name :-)). So he is improving in...

HELENA - National Republican Chairman Marc Racicot told the Montana party faithful Saturday that it's critical for the GOP to regain control of the U.S. Senate to pass President Bush's agenda now stalled in the Democratic-controlled chamber. "I think this is the most important election year of our lifetimes," Racicot, former two-term Montana governor, told an overflow luncheon crowd at the Montana Republican Party platform committee. Racicot made his first official appearance in Montana since becoming GOP national chairman earlier this year. The former governor said he has made 45 trips to 30 states for the party the past five...

Where is Jonathan? by Rabbi Shlomo AvinerJune 24, 2002 Where is Jonathan? Rabbi Shlomo Aviner - Special to IMRA - June 24, 2002 Where is our brother Jonathan Pollard? In his seventeenth year in an American prison. The numerical value of seventeen equals the Hebrew word “tov” [good]. But for Jonathan Pollard, things are not good. Prison is a terrible place. To quote the prophet Jeremiah chapter 15, verse 2: “Thus said the L-ord, ‘Such as are [destined] for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for famine, to famine, and...

Chuck Baldwin Bush Continues Clinton Agenda Referring to President G. W. Bush's new Homeland Security department, former President Bill Clinton told a gathering of Council on Foreign Relations members last week, "We have been building this for a long time." For once, Clinton told the truth. What he began constructing following the Oklahoma City bombing, Bush has succeeded in bringing to fruition. America is about to have its very own Gestapo. If Al Gore were president today, Republicans in Congress would no doubt rise in righteous indignation to quickly kill such a plan. However, with a fellow Republican...

Back to News/Home Page News Archives Just a few weeks ago, Bush Country posted an article from one of our writers, Jeremy Reynalds in which Jeremy noted there were numerous U.S. based ISP's hosting terrorist websites. These sites were not only providing information to terrorist, but were actually asking for donations and provided a Bank Account number in Palestine to transfer the money to. Just the other day I went to one of the sites Jeremy identified and noticed that they were still up and running! Not only that, but they were providing, among other things, information for...

Actress Angela Bassett hasn't had a starring role on the big screen since 1998. So how is she getting her groove back? By dissing the role that earned Halle Berry an Oscar. The 43-year-old actress is speaking out about racism, sexism and ageism in Hollywood in the latest issue of Newsweek, and she saves her harshest words for Monster's Ball, saying she turned down the film's lead role because she thinks it was demeaning to black women. Berry later snagged the part--that of a death-row widow who inadvertently falls in love with the man who executed her husband--and nabbed the...
