Petition in Support of MSNBC's "Alan Keyes is Making Sense"

Whereas MSNBC's breakthrough television show "Alan Keyes is Making Sense" is being attacked by left-wing special interests in an effort to get the show cancelled or removed from prime time;

Whereas Alan Keyes' show sets a new standard for principled, intelligent, patriotic, God-respecting conservative analysis and commentary in the media;

Whereas Alan Keyes possesses formidable diplomatic, analytical, and rhetorical skills unique among media personalities;

Whereas Alan's show has already demonstrated far-reaching influence in the public arena by debating issues that gravely affect not only our nation, but the decency, freedom, and responsible self-government of people around the world;

Whereas Alan's show challenges both guests and viewers alike to "make sense" because of his insistence on sound arguments; demonstrable facts; fair-minded, strenuous, and rigorous debate; and consistency with America's founding principles;

Whereas Alan Keyes brings class, character, and credibility to MSNBC--as well as much-needed conservative credentials--in ways harmonious with the network's expressed commitment to offer viewers "fiercely independent voices for a free and independent America";

Whereas MSNBC has made many public statements of commitment to producing and airing "Making Sense"--assuring viewers, "This show is going to have a long run";

Whereas "Alan Keyes is Making Sense" is the only reason many new viewers have begun to watch MSNBC at all, pay extra to have access to MSNBC, or subscribe to cable itself;

And whereas Alan Keyes' insightful, principled current events analysis naturally attracts a broad range of viewers who value the truth--conservative, moderate, and liberal alike--and thus has clear potential to grow its viewer base substantially over time as more people learn about the show--

Therefore, we, the undersigned, wish wholeheartedly to express our support for "Alan Keyes is Making Sense" and insist that MSNBC not break faith with its viewers, not succumb to pressure, and continue to carry this outstanding and unique program in PRIME TIME.

I hope they let Keyes go and FOX picks him up.He is a staunch conservative and doesnt belong on MSNBC.I have never understood why FOX didnt hire him to start with.
Keyes is one of the most knowledgeable people in this country and is too articulate for most of the bozos in the press and TV therefore they are jealous of him and want nothing to do with him.
I hate to see him out of a job but this cable company where I am doesnt even carry MSNBC and I wouldnt ask them to carry that liberal outfit.So I never get to see him anyway.

In a way, I do hope that they do cancel him. Then Fox news can pick him up and give him the support that he deserves. I wouldn't dream of watching MSNBC if it were not for Dr. Keyes.

With Alan Keyes, MSNBC is watchable. Without him, no way.

The problem with Fox is that they turn to sensationalism and entertainment too much. O’Reilly’s Rosie O’Donnell interview was one of its most watched, but it was of so little importance.

I kinda like the Keyes show where it is. If only MSNBC would promote it as much as they promote Donahue . . .

Last night's show was a classic instance of how the republic would be worse off if AKIMS were to disappear.

Cheers,

Richard F.

Yes, it was.

At least there are transcripts, such as the one you posted on the other thread from last night's show: AKIMS, 6/25/02.

Whereas MSNBC has made many public statements of commitment to producing and airing "Making Sense"--assuring viewers, "This show is going to have a long run";

Whereas, Alan Keyes is an obnoxious bore; Be It Resolved, Keyes must go. MSNBC should pull the plug and end his life support.

The problem with Fox is that they turn to sensationalism and entertainment too much. O’Reilly’s Rosie O’Donnell interview was one of its most watched, but it was of so little importance.

Point well taken. Fox is weak in reporting. They don't have the people on the ground (like CNN does) to do an effective job. They don't report on the things they should like the water problem in Klamath Oregon, genocide in the Sudan or the alliance that was being formed between Russia, its former republics, Iran and China. In the middle east, they show the same clips over and over and run that poor slob Steve Harrigan everywhere. I think he is their army of one. To make up for this, they hype all of their really stupid stories, play them over and over, and encourage people like O'Reilly to exhibit more personality. The amount of actual news conveyed is very small.

I agree that Keyes could turn MSNBC around if they promoted and supported him more. I just don't think they will do it.

What the h%ll is the deal with Fox and Friends? They are using ALF as a commentator now.
