WASHINGTON, Oct 31 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's second attempt to sue the Wall Street Journal was dismissed with prejudice on Saturday, ending his pursuit of a defamation lawsuit over the news outlet's reporting on his ties to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The US District Court for the Southern District of Florida held that Trump again did not show actual malice, a requirement for a public figure's defamation claim. "As with his first attempt, he has failed," Judge Darrin P. Gayles wrote.Gayles highlighted the paper's "thoughtful and detailed investigation" and reporters' efforts to seek comment from Trump and other officials before...

From the earliest days of our Republic, prayer and faith in Almighty God have stood as the foundation of our strength, the source of our unity, and the fount of our greatness. This Reformation Day, I send my best wishes to the countless Christians across our country commemorating the Protestant Reformation and its enduring message of salvation by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.Five hundred years ago, William Tyndale—inspired by the work of Martin Luther—advanced the Protestant Reformation’s devotion to Holy Scripture through the publication of the first New Testament printed in English, shaping the language of the Bibles...

The legal challenges to Donald Trump’s proposed memorial arch are mounting, with the District of Columbia and Virginia suing in federal court on Saturday as the administration says construction could begin as early as next week. There are now three lawsuits calling for a halt to potential work on a monument that would rise 250ft (76 meters) on a patch of grass off the bridge that spans the Potomac River, connecting the city with the Arlington national cemetery. That would make the arch 100ft taller (30 meters) than the Statue of Liberty is from its base to the top of...

Here in Cincinnati, we are getting a LOT of political commercials where a Heavy Sidenote is that "public records record your voting." That is, not who you voted for but the fact you voted, and your history of voting. I am not getting this. It seems like some Capone-style thin threat; "your friends and relatives will know if you voted." Does anyone know the theory behind this odd push?

Explanation: What spooky planet is this? Planet Earth on a dark and stormy night, of course. The ghostly scene was photographed at Hverir, a geothermally active area found along northeastern Iceland's volcanic landscape. Triggered by solar activity, geomagnetic storms have unleashed energetic particles trapped in Earth's magnetic field. Penetrating the planet's upper atmosphere at high latitudes, the particles create auroral displays in the starry night sky. Ghostly towers of steam and gas are venting from local fumaroles to dance against the eerie, greenish northern lights. For now, auroral activity on planet Earth remains in a high state as the Sun...

More than 51 million Americans have voted early in person or returned mail ballots across the country, according to the Election Lab at the University of Florida. As of Saturday, more than 7 million people in Texas had voted early in person or returned mail ballots, according to the data. In Florida, more than 4 million people had voted early. Early voting is significantly outpacing the last midterm election, with millions more Americans casting ballots in advance and particularly sharp increases in states hosting competitive Senate races, according to an Associated Press analysis of voting data conducted five days before...

JoeLange@JoeLange·2hThe more I think about it, the more I’m convinced.I think Trump played a bigger part in disrupting and stopping the attempted “coup” in Poland than we realize.Who informed the Polish President that a “coup” was happening, while in flight out of the country?Do we know the answer to that question yet?Did Trump play a role? Our military captures all electronic communications.Do you think the EU puppet masters planned and were directing the “coup” with the Polish Prime Minister? Were their communications being monitored?Did Trump learn about their plan? The Prime Minister (Tusk) is not just an ally of the EU, he’s also...

Hardly anybody thinks better of themselves than journalists—their foremost competition being, perhaps, academics. The cacophony of self-congratulation reaches a peak in state-funded journalism; the fact of the venture’s unprofitability seems to testify to its virtue. When Congress defunded the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB)—the financier of the likes of NPR and PBS—in 2025, the kind of person who considers it nobler to rip money from the wallets of taxpayers than to get it by providing a valuable good or service was made livid. (Another kind of person will be unsurprised to learn that, with the defunding of CPB, the industry...

This remains one of the most shocking things of my entire life. In early November 2024, I submitted a light rewrite of some of the Communist Manifesto to a "right-wing" Christian Nationalist publication called American Reformer. It was obvious what it was; it just swapped out proletariat for "New Christian Right" and bourgeoisie for "classical liberals" and their "postwar consensus." It was so obviously the Communist Manifesto that once it got published, one of their own readers spotted it and commented with proof almost immediately. I didn't realize it had been published for 11 days, however, and that comment and...

Washington — Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has asked his Democratic primary rival, Rep. Haley Stevens, to stay away from all remaining campaign events in the final days before Tuesday's election, according to two sources familiar with the matter. The pair clashed Friday ahead of what had been a planned Sunday campaign event where they were expected to make a rare appearance together. Politico was first to report El-Sayed had asked Stevens to stay away. The public rift between the two Democrats comes just days before one of the country's most hotly contested Senate races, as Republican nominee Mike...

When Chuck Todd jumped in to defend the Democrats' fake Dan Sullivan scheme in Alaska, he accidentally proved why Mary Peltola could end up behind bars for it. Last week, the Justice Department sued in the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska to block the state from certifying its Senate results if incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) loses to Peltola, his Democrat challenger. Democrats were furious, of course, but then, the New York Times reported this week that Democrat operatives aligned with Peltola started hunting in the summer of 2025 for another man named Dan Sullivan to put...

The U.S. Department of Justice says charges have been laid against five more Canadians for voting fraud-related offences, the latest in a flurry of similar prosecutions ahead of next week's midterm elections. According to a tally compiled by CBC News, at least 20 Canadians have now been either charged or sentenced in the U.S. this year in federal election integrity investigations. Most charges have been filed since last month, with allegations typically dating back several years. The five latest cases were announced in a series of news releases Thursday and Friday from U.S. attorney's offices in Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina...

It is the biggest bombshell to break right before a midterm election we’ve seen in our lifetimes — and that’s not hyperbole. Earlier this year, an Alaska Democrat Senate campaign allegedly recruited a regular citizen to also run for Senate. Only one prerequisite was required: He had to be named Dan Sullivan. The goal, of course, was to confuse voters seeking to vote for Dan Sullivan, the Republican incumbent, by having someone with the same name on the ballot. And in a political climate that abandoned civility and sanity, this gambit proves that rock bottom has a basement. The current...

We are in the fog of war. Polls favor Democrats, who could capture both the House of Representatives and Senate. If Republicans lose Senate seats in Kansas, Iowa, and Texas, a bad night could become a rout. Republicans insist the picture is less bleak than polling averages suggest. They point to questionable turnout models and surveys that underestimate their candidates. In Michigan, skepticism is justified because some polls were exposed as fabrications. Of course, that does not make unfavorable legitimate polls disappear. Everything rests on turnout. Republicans must overcome historic midterm trends and President Donald Trump’s undeniably poor approval ratings....

The system that has driven life-altering discoveries and helped make the United States a superpower is now under intense strain. The warning, buried in an obscure government report this summer, was unflinching. The Defense Department’s vaunted network of research laboratories — whose scientists helped develop satellite communication, radar technology, and even the computer mouse — was in trouble. The labs lost a significant share of their staff last year, largely in response to the Trump administration’s efforts to thin the federal work force, the report found. Refilling critical positions was proving difficult due in part to President Trump’s demand that new hires be...

Anthropic’s upcoming IPO is going to make its founders very, very rich. And unfortunately for freedom-loving Americans, it will dramatically expand the liquid resources of the Effective Altruism (EA)-linked network surrounding the company, putting extraordinary amounts of cash behind people and groups that are trying to manipulate society into bending to its ideals. At a reported potential valuation of $1.5–$2 trillion, Anthropic’s seven cofounders will hold approximately $150–$200 billion in combined equity. They have already pledged 80 percent of their personal Anthropic equity to philanthropic causes. Of course, we know how that game works in politics. “Philanthropy” quickly becomes a...

A New York man was arrested after he was allegedly captured on video stealing campaign signs belonging to Republican congressional candidate Anthony Constantino while driving his employer’s vehicle. Josef Marris was charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, according to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office. He was also fired from East Branch Organics, according to Constantino’s campaign. Constantino, who is running in New York’s 21st Congressional District, said the alleged thefts were intended to intimidate his supporters. "My campaign has lost more than $100,000 to sign theft and vandalism," Constantino told Fox News Digital. "There are now...
