When Chuck Todd jumped in to defend the Democrats' fake Dan Sullivan scheme in Alaska, he accidentally proved why Mary Peltola could end up behind bars for it.
Last week, the Justice Department sued in the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska to block the state from certifying its Senate results if incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) loses to Peltola, his Democrat challenger.
Democrats were furious, of course, but then, the New York Times reported this week that Democrat operatives aligned with Peltola started hunting in the summer of 2025 for another man named Dan Sullivan to put on the ballot. Their bet was simple: confused voters would drift away from the real senator. Peltola aides reportedly weighed routing money to the new candidates through outside spending and a new super PAC called Alaska Values. They even floated a "MAGA party" to split conservatives before dropping the idea. One of the Times' major sources was Elisa Rios, Peltola's own former campaign manager.
Democrats settled on one defense after the lawsuit dropped: Alaskans can tell the incumbent from the namesake, they say, so any Republican who objects must think voters are stupid.
"And they're giving the game up," Jessica Tarlov said of the DOJ suit. "The fact that the DOJ filed to invalidate the results in Alaska, if Mary Peltola wins, because people, I guess, are too stupid to know what 'Dan Sullivan incumbent' means versus Dan Sullivan […], that's what President Trump is saying by filing that lawsuit."

Mary Peltola May Face Prison Over Fake Sullivan Scheme
Yeah, right.
The NYT reported Democrat operatives allied with Peltola started hunting in the summer of 2025 for “another Dan Sullivan” to put on the ballot.
Their dirty trick was simple: confused voters would drift away from the real senator.
Peltola aides reportedly weighed routing money through outside spending and a new super PAC called “Alaska Values.” They even floated a second idea......a “MAGA party” to split conservatives then dropped the idea. One of the Times’ major reportorial sources was Elisa Rios, Peltola’s own former campaign manager.
Deserving of PRISON.
Deserving of PRISON.
Gator, we’ve been around long enough to know that these pukes are never held accountable. That’s why they continue to do it.

excerpt
The DOJ issued at least three dozen new subpoenas and document preservation requests as part of its probe into the Alaska Senate race, a US official confirmed to NBC News on Thursday.
The subpoenas were sent to Democrat Mary Peltola’s Senate campaign offices and those of former schoolteacher Dan J. Sullivan, who is a decoy candidate solicited to run for the Senate.
The move comes the same day Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced that he is ordering an investigation into Peltola’s campaign following a report that it worked with allies to recruit a candidate with the same name as incumbent Republican Dan Sullivan in an effort to siphon his votes.
The Dan Sullivan scheme: Another ‘conspiracy theory’ turns out to be true

It is the biggest bombshell to break right before a midterm election we’ve seen in our lifetimes — and that’s not hyperbole. Earlier this year, an Alaska Democrat Senate campaign allegedly recruited a regular citizen to also run for Senate. Only one prerequisite was required:
He had to be named Dan Sullivan.
The goal, of course, was to confuse voters seeking to vote for incumbent Dan Sullivan, by having someone with the same name on the ballot. And in a political climate that abandoned civility and sanity, this gambit proves that rock bottom has a basement.
The current race in Alaska between the aforementioned Sullivan and Mary Peltola (D) is truly a toss-up: Each of the last five major polls conducted in the state shows neither candidate leading by more than two points. Peltola has a slight advantage overall in the RealClearPolitics average of polls with a 1.2% lead.
And perhaps that’s why this scheme to confuse voters into siphoning votes away from the incumbent Dan Sullivan was concocted.
Note: The “other” Dan Sullivan, the one who isn’t the incumbent senator, has gone AWOL in recent weeks. He has not campaigned in any capacity, nor has he since announcing his candidacy. He also tried to change his middle initial to match that of incumbent Dan S. Sullivan in an attempt to baffle voters further. (Excerpt) Read more at washingtonexaminer.com ...
Although finding someone with a strategic name to enter a race is not inherently a crime, the methods used to fund or execute the campaign can break the law:
• Campaign Finance Violations: If a campaign secretly funds the spoiler candidate’s filing fees, advertisements, or signature-gathering without properly disclosing it, they are violating federal or state campaign finance laws. For example, in a 2020 Florida State Senate race involving a ghost candidate, operatives faced criminal charges specifically because they made illegal, undeclared campaign contributions to the candidate.
• Bribery and Financial Inducements: Offering direct payments, jobs, or other expenditures to an individual specifically to influence them to run or withhold their vote can violate statutes like 18 U.S. Code § 597 (Expenditures to influence voting).
• Fraud and Deception Laws: The Department of Justice and state prosecutors can investigate whether organizers engaged in conspiracy to defraud the United States or strip citizens of their civil rights by intentionally deceiving voters.
The distinction between unethical political maneuvering and illegal behavior frequently makes headlines:
• The 2026 Alaska Senate Race: A high-profile controversy erupted after The New York Times reported that operatives connected to a Democratic campaign allegedly searched voter rolls to recruit an independent candidate named Dan Sullivan to run against incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan to split the vote. The Department of Justice opened an investigation into potential fraud, and the state’s governor ordered a probe. However, state courts previously ruled that the second candidate could remain on the ballot, noting that Alaska law does not require a candidacy to be filed in “good faith”.
• State Ballot Rules: Some states try to mitigate the confusion caused by identical or similar names by passing laws that allow election officials to print additional distinguishing information (like a middle initial, profession, or home city) on the ballot.
“we’ve been around long enough to know that these pukes are never held accountable.”
Yes. All we’ve seen are a few non-citizens get nabbed. It sends a message to the hoi polloi to not try it, but the upper level pols, aides, campaigns, etc never pay a price for their crimes and shenanigans. Never.
The Alaskan vote thievery was called “a prank” yesterday. Ha, ha. Just a “prank.”
How do the names appear on the ballot? Is there any way for a voter who has not been following this news story to know which one is the incumbent senator or do they have to know what his middle initial is?
Maybe the fake sullivan will win and then appoint the real one.
Oh best chance of getting her in prison is via the State of Alaska.
Coordinating with another Federal cndidate is a Federal crime.
Party is listed next to the name of the candidate (Decay Dan has no party) and the incumbent (In this case Dan Sullivan) is indicated as the incumbent.
It should be noted that Decoy Dan *tried* to get his name listed as Daniel S. Sullivan, but the election official handling his paperwork wouldn’t let him put any name other than his true legal name, Dan J. Sullivan, Jr.
If that's the case, then let's look at Decoy Dan:
Those payments on Decoy Dan's behalf are likely criminal pass-throughs of cash that should have come from Sullivan's own accounts. That's worth investigating.

It’s very possible that a majority of voters vote for Dan Sullivan and Peltola wins.
One positive aspect of this dirty trick is that DOJ and Alaska investigators care going to be watching close which should cut down on the Democrats brazen election fraud.
Having spent a bit of time in Alaska I can personally attest that there is a plurality of Alaskan voters stupid and uninformed enough to be taken in by this scam and there is a significant number of the smarter and better informed members of voting base that may not be sober or straight enough on election day to discern the difference between the two Sullivans
