Daily Readings from the USCCBWhen Jesus had driven out a demon, some of the crowd said: “By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he drives out demons.” Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven. But he knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste and house will fall against house. And if Satan is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?” Luke 11:15–18The name Beelzebul is first found in 2 Kings 1, where it refers to a false god worshiped by the Philistines in Ekron....

"How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word. . . . Thy word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against Thee" (Ps. 119:9, 11). Scripture is the source of spiritual victory. Many Christians struggle with spiritual defeat or recurring sins because they haven't learned to apply biblical principles to specific situations. Perhaps they don't know God's will because they haven't matured in the Word. Or maybe they know what He expects of them but disregard His counsel. In either case, the result is the same. Jesus Himself...

Student-led protests over France’s struggling education system descended into chaos in Paris as fires broke out and chemical irritants were deployed. Student groups claimed 100,000 people protested in the capital, while the Interior Ministry put the nationwide turnout at around 266,000.

Beni Rae Harmony, who once posed in a f--- Joe Biden T-shirt, caught the president’s eye during trip on Air Force One As Air Force One left Ireland on Sept 13, Donald Trump entered the press cabin. He was in a good mood and holding a stack of papers. At the top of the first page were the words: “Beni Rae Harmony”, followed by a list of bullet points. The glamorous young reporter of that name was on the plane and, over the course of the trip to Doonbeg, had become something of a star. Just 24 years old,...

Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed described a pregnant mother as “simply a carrying vehicle for a fetus that has not ever breathed air.” The comment came when a pro-life student asked him, at a Western Michigan University town hall, why she should vote for him. The exchange came at a “Students vs. Billionaires” event on the Kalamazoo campus. El-Sayed did not use the word “woman.” He called the pregnant mom “an adult, or sometimes even a juvenile human.” “I respect your position insofar as it’s founded in the idea that you want to protect and empower life,” El-Sayed told...

I write these words from Poland, where 90 percent of Poland’s Jews — 3 million out of 3.3 million — were slaughtered during World War II. That is what genocide looks like. In stark contrast, roughly 70,000 of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents were killed during Israel’s war with Hamas, amounting to approximately 3 percent of the population. And that figure includes enemy combatants. Yet the same word, genocide, used for the systematic, intentional murder of 90 percent of Poland’s Jews — and two-thirds of Europe’s Jews as a whole — is being used to describe Israel’s war with Hamas. How...

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has reportedly shot someone in New York. The person shot is alive and in the hospital. The Department of Homeland Security said that ICE officers were targeting a criminal illegal alien from the Dominican Republic who was previously arrested for assault and was associated with the Trinitarios gang. That person, who has not yet been identified, was arrested by the New York Police Department in December 2023 but was released a few days later, DHS said. On October 8, at approximately 4:00 PM ET, ICE officers were conducting a targeted enforcement operation in the Bronx, New...

Republican attorney general candidate Saritha Komatireddy dropped a withering 52-count “public indictment” against Democratic incumbent Letitia James — accusing her of “dereliction” of duty ahead of their debate Thursday. The sweeping accusations were part of a cheeky campaign stunt that Komatireddy, a former federal prosecutor, wielded to argue her opponent has been too busy taking aim at President Trump to address the needs to New Yorkers during her two-terms. “The People do not allege that the defendant has been idle. They allege that she has been busy with the wrong things,” said Komatireddy, who also listed the “Exasperated People of...

Well, this is a nuclear bomb directed at companies that abuse the H-1B visa system and the Permanent Labor Certification Program, which converts H-1B visa holders into permanent residents. Nothing like this has happened before at this scale, although enforcement actions on a much smaller scale have achieved the same goal. .@Sonderling47: "I am hereby suspending from the Permanent Labor Certification Program some of the largest IT outsourcing firms in the world — Cognizant, Infosys, Tata, Wipro, HCL, and Capgemini — and also, due to multiple active federal investigations, @USDOL is suspending Microsoft and Adobe from the program."— Rapid Response...

The story we have come to expect from immigrants is that their children and grandchildren will integrate into the dominant culture, retaining only superficial characteristics from their home country. With Muslim migrants in Denmark, one of the few places that measures such things, the story is the opposite: immigrants from North African and Middle Eastern countries, as well as Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkey (MENAPT), become even more hostile to Western values and are more inclined to be criminals. Det handler om efterkommernes børn – de såkaldte tredjegenerationsindvandrere. I Danmarks Statistiks tabeller om for kriminalitet kan man ikke se dem. De...

Our star and primary energy source that makes life on this planet possible may also be a cosmic cannibal. That's according to new research that suggests the sun may have swallowed a super-Earth planet billions of years ago in its early history. And our star may still be hiding the evidence. The scientists behind this research think that the fingerprints of this violent consumption of a planet may still exist within the solar interior. Super-Earths are common occupants of other planetary systems, and these findings can explain why the solar system lacks such a world... Yildiz and colleagues theorize that...

SpaceX has notched another deal selling artificial-intelligence computing power, bringing it closer to an ambitious revenue milestone. Bret Johnsen, SpaceX’s longtime chief financial officer, said at a Goldman Sachs conference on Thursday that the company had signed a deal for AI computing power with an undisclosed company earlier this month. He said the deal is worth $1.1 billion a month beginning in December, and valued it at about $13 billion worth of annualized revenue. SpaceX aims to have a $100 billion annualized revenue run rate by the end of 2026.

WASHINGTON — Michigan Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed repeatedly refused to answer whether he considers Iran or Israel to be the “greater threat to the United States.” When presented with that question during his debate Thursday against Republican Senate hopeful Mike Rogers, El-Sayed ripped it as a “ridiculous hypothetical.” “Here’s what’s happening right now: our ostensible ally in Israel has lobbied us to go to war with Iran,” El-Sayed, a Democrat, replied. “We have watched as Iran has responded by bombing all kinds of countries in the Middle East and then choking off the world’s energy supply.” “This is a situation...

A grove of rare American chestnut trees that supplies restoration seedlings in West Virginia has become the focus of a dispute over massive data center development, with an Alaska political connection through major donors to gubernatorial candidate Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins. The American Chestnut Foundation’s West Virginia chapter has warned that development around the former state tree nursery in Mason County could jeopardize trees that provide most of the nuts it collects for seedling production for the once nearly extinct tree. The chapter identified 200 American chestnuts at the site and said their loss would significantly affect its ability to supply seedlings...

Machines programmed to sort merchandise in warehouses hit kinks with cardboard boxes and turkeys; automation push reaches ‘peak complexity’An automated system for sorting merchandise at a Walmart warehouse in Seymour, Ind. Walmart (WMT) has relied for years on more than 140,000 warehouse workers to unload trucks, forklift pallets of merchandise into warehouses, sort and store the goods on towering racks, then reverse the entire flow to send them out to stores and homes. It isn’t an easy job. A worker might walk 20,000 steps a shift. It also isn’t all that complicated—unless you try to program robots to do it....

[Catholic Caucus] EXCLUSIVE: Bishop Schneider says Amoris Laetitia is ‘against divine law’, must be ‘explicitly correctedAs the Pope gathers prelates to the Vatican to discuss Amoris Laetitia, Bishop Athanasius Schneider has expressed his concerns that the text is a practical “denial of the divine truth of the indissolubility of marriage” and an attack on the “ineffable sanctity of the Holy Eucharist”. The prominent prelate, auxiliary of Astana in Kazakhstan, gave a wide-ranging interview to the Catholic Herald recently, discussing issues such as the Society of Saint Pius X, the traditional Mass, Amoris Laetitia (AL), the recent document commemorating Nostra Aetate...

A Wisconsin congressional candidate has been arrested on hate crime charges after he went on a vulgar caught-on-camera rant against an Israeli dad with his young son in the car — after he was triggered by an anti-Hamas bumper sticker. Matthew Arndt, 54, allegedly cut off the 41-year-old father on a road in the Milwaukee suburb of Mequon Thursday morning, flipping him the bird and cursing at him before pulling into a gas station, where the dad followed him and began filming the explosive encounter. “Do you want to tell me something?” the father asked. “Yeah, you’re a f------ piece...

Polls have opened to replace Sir Keir Starmer in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election at 7am this morning. The north London constituency has been safely held by Labour since it was created back in 1983. Sagal Abdi-Wali, the current Camden Council leader, is gunning to replace the former Prime Minister as the party's MP in the crunch mid-term contest. But Labour's long-lasting streak is being challenged by Green Party leader Zack Polanski, who hopes to secure his own seat in the House of Commons. There are 13 other candidates in the by-election, including the Conservatives' Ewan Cameron, Reform UK’s...
