One case of Hantavirus has been confirmed, with five more suspected cases under investigation, it said. One British national is reportedly in intensive care. The outbreak was reported aboard the MV Hondius cruise ship, which was travelling from Argentina to Cape Verde. The MV Hondius is run by Dutch-based tour company Oceanwide Expeditions. According to an itinerary on the Oceanwide Expeditions website, MV Hondius departed from Ushuaia in Argentina...

On last night’s The Weekend: Primetime on MS NOW, legal analyst and law professor Paul Butler delivered an astonishing assessment of the Supreme Court’s recent decision on the Voting Rights Act. Analogizing it to the Dred Scott decision, Butler made the absurd claim: “It’s like the Dred Scott decision, where the Court said that the black man has no rights that the white man is bound to respect. The Supreme Court is saying that the black voter and the brown voter has [sic] no rights that it respects.”Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

Graham Platner, a man with a Nazi tattoo and current Democrat candidate for the US Senate in Maine, vows "if Democrats win a majority we will shut the White House down with incessant hearings requiring the presence and testimony of every person working for Trump. They won't have any time to do what Trump wants them to do. This November election is our opportunity to seize power and wield it to bring the benefits of collectivism to the people who are oppressed and deprived under capitalism." Platner has been endorsed by Sens. Bernie Sanders (Vt), Elizabeth Warren (Mass), Ruben Gallego...

Nato is “disintegrating”, Poland’s prime minister has said after the United States announced it was withdrawing 5,000 troops from Germany. Donald Tusk made the dire assessment of the Western alliance on Saturday amid an escalating war of words between Donald Trump and Germany over Berlin’s criticism of the war on Iran. In a post on X on Saturday, Mr Tusk wrote: “The greatest threat to the transatlantic community are not its external enemies, but the ongoing disintegration of our alliance. We must all do what it takes to reverse this disastrous trend.” On Friday evening, the US department of defence...

Growing up in Pakistan until my late teens, I never encountered a Jewish person. My passport permitted me to travel the world, but not to Israel, and so my intrigue at my first encounter with a Jewish person when I was in my twenties in New York was palpable. It was reciprocated, as he had never met a Muslim socially, but he was nevertheless taken aback by how little I knew of the Holocaust and Jewish history. I picked up a copy of Primo Levi’s account of surviving Auschwitz, If This is a Man, which began my education about people...

If everything goes to plan, Alex Bellini could become the first person to live on an iceberg, where temperatures hover between 5 to −4 degrees Fahrenheit and gale-force winds blow. The 38-year-old Italian public speaker and adventurer, who crossed two oceans alone on a row boat and ran across the U.S. in 70 days, recently spoke about his project, Adrift, a years’-long ambition to live in a survival capsule on a Greenland iceberg. Once a suitable iceberg is selected, Bellini plans to conduct research on climate change‘s affect on ice sheets and to test the limits of human endurance and...

Germany’s Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, attacked Trump over the war in Iran. Trump responded by withdrawing 5,000 troops from Germany. The attack was a foolish thing for Merz to have done, but perhaps given the state of Islamic control over German society, he felt he had no other choice. It all started last Monday, when Merz announced that the U.S. was losing in Iran and essentially demanded that the U.S. beat a speedy retreat: “ The problem with conflicts like this is always you don’t just have to get in – you have to get out again. We saw that very...

Pope Leo XIV made headlines recently by echoing, on social media, the words of Jesus Christ from His famous Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are the peacemakers.” Many on the right took this as a jab at President Trump over the Iran war, and perhaps it was. But I’d like for a moment to set aside politics and focus on the words themselves. Because we who consider ourselves followers of Christ take those words very seriously, or at least we should. Of course, not all conservatives are Christians, but most at least embrace Judeo-Christian values. So, whether you believe Jesus...

Estibaliz Kortazar, a far-left Spanish activist, did what good comrades do, she opened her home to a North African migrant. Once he got what he wanted, the man started sexually harassing her, insulting her, and beating her. Then he threw her out, changed the locks, and took over the house. She called the police for help. Their response? “We can’t do anything without a court order.” Now she’s sleeping at relatives’ houses, seeing a psychologist after a nervous breakdown, and has launched a petition to fast-track the legal process and get her home back.

President Trump tore into comedian Bill Maher in a Truth Social post late Saturday. "I hate seeing Fox, and other Conservative Outlets, constantly making Low Rated Bill Maher 'relevant' as it pertains to the Republican Party, and beyond. Bill Maher is a weak and ineffective person who I got to know very well during my dinner with him at the White House," he wrote. Trump referenced California Gov. Gavin Newsom's recent appearance on Maher's HBO show. "Maher was defenseless, and totally deficient. Either he didn’t have the knowledge, or he choked, because Gavin went on and on about how good...

He has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. The morning after allegedly killing Celeste Rivas Hernandez, he sat...

Six months before Election Day, America’s $39 trillion national debt has moved from an abstract fiscal concern to a dinner-table anxiety… A new national survey released Thursday by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation found that 92% of registered voters are concerned that the national debt is fueling inflation and driving up their personal cost of living, including prices for groceries, energy, housing, and transportation. The figure includes 94% of Democrats, 92% of independents, and 89% of Republicans — a degree of bipartisan alignment rarely seen in today’s fractured political environment… The concern extends beyond deficits in the abstract. Eighty-eight percent...
