Vice President JD Vance on Sunday attributed President Donald Trump’s recent change in attitude toward the Russian-Ukrainian war to the loss of human life and the impact to Russia’s economy. “The Russian economy is in shambles. The Russians are not gaining much on the battlefield. It’s clearly time for them to listen to his passionate plea for them to come to the table and actually talk seriously about peace,” Vance said in an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum that aired on “Fox News Sunday.” “I think what has changed is the reality on the ground, with the Russians killing...

In 2007, eight years after becoming Venezuela’s president, Hugo Chávez revoked the license of the country’s oldest private television station. Eight months into his second term, President Donald Trump suggested revoking the licenses of U.S. television stations he believes are overly critical of him. Since he returned to office in January, Trump’s remaking of the federal government into an instrument of his personal will has drawn comparisons to elected strongmen in other countries who used the levers of government to consolidate power, punish their enemies and stifle dissent. But those familiar with other countries where that has happened, including Hungary...

Progressive billionaire George Soros and his $32billion Open Society Foundations (OSF) are facing the most serious threat in their decades-long history. This comes as the Justice Department drew up plans last week to investigate the liberal funding giant for everything from arson to material support of terrorism. Speaking exclusively with the Daily Mail, Ryan Mauro - an investigator with the conservative Capital Research Center (CRC) - said the evidence against Soros, 95, was already hiding in plain sight, and prosecutors now have the tools to uncover what he called a 'smoking gun' that has yet to be discovered. '[It] could...

Pavel Durov, the billionaire founder of the Telegram messaging app, accused French intelligence on Sunday of asking him through an intermediary to censor some Moldovan voices ahead of a presidential vote last year in return for help with his court case in France. Moldovans were voting in a parliamentary election on Sunday that could have a major impact on the government's quest to join the European Union, as a pro-Russian opposition group seeks to steer the nation away from closer ties with the bloc. France did not immediately comment on the remarks by Durov, who was arrested in 2024 at...

European soccer body UEFA is moving toward a vote to suspend its member federation Israel over the war in Gaza, people familiar with the proposal told The Associated Press on Thursday. A majority of the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) 20-member executive committee is expected to support any vote in favor of suspending Israeli teams from international play, two sources told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject. Such a step would prevent Israeli national and clubs teams from playing in international competitions including next year's World Cup. Israel's men's team is...

A badly crushed cranium unearthed decades ago from a riverbank in central China that once defied classification is now shaking up the human family tree, according to a new analysis. Scientists digitally reconstructed the squashed skull, thought to be 1 million years old, and its features suggest that the fossil belonged to the same lineage as a striking specimen called “Dragon Man” and the Denisovans — an enigmatic and recently discovered population of prehistoric humans with murky origins. The skull’s age and categorization as an early Denisovan ancestor would mean the group originated much earlier than thought. The researchers’ wider...

SAN DIEGO - ICE San Diego officers arrested four illegal aliens who are convicted child sex predators on Sept. 25. The aliens are citizens of Mexico, Vietnam, the Bahamas, and Cuba, who were taken into ICE custody following convictions for crimes against children, including sexual assault, molestation, and rape. Those arrested include: Eduardo Negrete, a citizen of Mexico, convicted of lewd acts with a child under 14, and a known gang member from Eastside San Diego. Hoang Nguyen, a citizen of Vietnam, convicted of molesting a child, lewd acts with a child, and failing to register as a sex offender....

or years, we were told by government officials and outside “experts” that the terrorists in our midst were mostly right-wing fanatics – a list that under the Biden administration came to include parents who spoke up at local school board meetings and Catholics who like the Latin mass. But even the left is now admitting what everyone else already knows. Namely, that despite their constant bleating about tolerance and peace, it’s leftists who pose the greatest threat to Americans. This week, the Trump-hating Atlantic magazine published an article titled “Left-Wing Terrorism Is on the Rise,” written by scholars at the...

Let’s be clear. There is zero cause or justification for President Donald Trump to send federal troops to Portland and authorize “full force.” Despite Trump’s bluster over the very limited protests outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in South Portland, the city is not “war ravaged,” nor is the ICE building “under siege” by “domestic terrorists.” Portlanders, of course, know this already, because we live, work and raise our families here. We know from our daily routines – school drop-offs, commutes through the city and evening get-togethers – that Trump’s characterizations are divorced from reality. While the modest protests...

A 24-year-old illegal immigrant from Venezuela who posed as a teenager in Toledo, Ohio, now faces decades in prison after admitting to a scheme that lasted more than a year. Anthony Emmanuel Labrador Sierra pleaded guilty this past week to multiple charges after forging immigration documents and claiming to be a 16-year-old student at Perrysburg High School in January 2024, the New York Post reported. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, Sierra, who crossed the border in 2019 and was only permitted to stay until March 2020 by the Biden administration, also illegally purchased...

Just 40 percent of the $110 billion the United States has invested into global HIV/AIDS prevention since 2003 actually went toward on-the-ground deliveries of life-saving medical supplies, with at least two recipients using more than $30 billion in taxpayer money to pay "exorbitant" executive salaries and push "leftwing ideology," a State Department audit found. When the Trump administration unveiled its "America First Global Health Strategy" earlier this month, it contended the nation’s "foreign assistance programs are deeply broken" and often plagued by fraud, mismanagement, and waste. An internal State Department review of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)...

A poll released on the eve of the Labour Party conference in Liverpool has found that Sir Kier Starmer now ranks as the least popular prime minister on record. A survey of 1,100 adults this month by polling firm Ipsos has found that only 13 per cent of the public are satisfied with the performance of Prime Minister Starmer. In contrast, 79 per cent are dissatisfied, The Telegraph reported.

WASHINGTON - The White House released a list of nearly 30 elected officials -- all of them Democrats -- who the Trump administration said incited violence against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents throughout the U.S. The White House named the following elected officials on the list, as well as quoted each of them: Gov. Tim Walz smeared ICE as the “modern-day Gestapo. Gov. Gavin Newsom likened ICE to “secret police,” calling them “authoritarian” and proclaiming a “right to push back.” Gov. JB Pritzker claimed the country is becoming “Nazi Germany” because ICE is “grabbing people off the street and...

A deputy noticed Ms. Mitchell driving a Jeep with illegally tinted windows. Well, he didn’t see Ms. Mitchell actually, because the windows were that dark. With windows that dark you probably can’t even see her ducks in a row on her dashboard, if she had any at all. What’s the point of driving a Jeep if people can’t see your ducks? A traffic stop was con-duck-ted on the Jeep on Ronald Reagan Parkway at Tortuga Drive in Davenport. Then the deputy learned something about Ms. Mitchell…she was driving on a license that had been suspended three years ago. That’s like...
