“They were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:36). The scribes and Pharisees offered a religion that only added burdens instead of lifting them. For them, the common people were the object of disdain, not compassion; individuals to be exploited, not served. In that sense the scribes and Pharisees were true descendents of the false shepherds against whom the Lord railed centuries earlier through Ezekiel (34:2–4). Many religious leaders today are still endeavoring to keep people out of the kingdom by distorting and contradicting God’s Word and perverting the way of salvation. By telling people they are...

South African opposition politician Julius Malema has been convicted of hate speech by the country's equality court, following remarks he made at a rally in 2022. Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party, often sparks controversy in a nation where, 31 years after apartheid ended, racial tensions still linger. After an incident where a white man allegedly assaulted an EFF member, Malema said: "No white man is going to beat me up... you must never be scared to kill. A revolution demands that at some point there must be killing." The equality court ruled that these remarks "demonstrated...

In a highly consequential decision, the High Court of Justice decided unanimously on Monday to recommend to the government that it cancel its decision to fire Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara. The decision by the nine-judge panel, a majority of whom are conservatives, was prompted by the government's failure to file a response to petitions to the court against...

President Donald Trump is reportedly reviewing a proposal to offer Gaza residents $5,000 each to voluntarily leave the region, as part of a larger plan to redevelop Gaza into a tech and trade hub backed by Israeli and Gulf investment. The 38-page plan, reported by The Washington Post, outlines a temporary relocation of Gaza’s two million residents, either to other countries or into secure zones within Gaza during reconstruction.
