Dear Sen. Alex Padilla, I would like to extend my gratitude for your speaking up against ICE deportations at the DHS meeting last month. I was utterly appalled by the sight of a U.S. senator being roughed up and handcuffed. As a fellow person of color, you must realize the ugly truth of racism that underlies this outrageous action: racism against brown people (the darker the worse generally) within a structure of white supremacist imperialism that plagues our lives.

An Italian socialite has been charged with murder after she was allegedly caught on camera repeatedly running over a mugger for snatching her bags. Cinzia Dal Pino, 65, is accused of killing Nourdine Mezgoui, a 52-year-old Moroccan national, in the Italian seaside resort of Viareggio after he stole her bag, L’Unione Sarda reported. Video shows Mezgoui walking along the sidewalk when a vehicle suddenly appears to deliberately veer into him. The SUV then reverses and runs over Mezgoui three times as he lies on the sidewalk. The driver, who prosecutors say is Dal Pino, then gets out of the car...

You’ve all heard of Secretariat. You may have seen the film War Horse. Let me introduce you to the greatest horse of whom you’ve never heard. We called her “Softie.” Even as a foal, she seemed acutely aware that we humans are vulnerable creatures and she could hurt us, so she was always extremely gentle. Our church friends ran a riding stable, where couples and families could rent horses for the day and take them out on the trails. I was doing well with my paper route, so they hired me to help take care of their horses for the...

An American teenager has been detained on an Antarctic island, creating a major delay in his attempt to fly his small plane to every continent that is being followed online by more than a million people. Chilean authorities stopped Ethan Guo, 19, after he submitted a false flight plan, according to the BBC's US partner CBS News. His deviation from that plan in the air had "activated alert protocols", Chile's General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics said in a statement. Mr Guo was taken into custody after landing on King George Island, home to a number of international research stations and...

Oh, and he is much better than they are at talking!... Congress passed the cornerstone legislation of Trump’s second presidency, eclipsing my desire to look at past Fourth of July jubilations. The Big Beautiful Bill was worthy of our Founding Fathers, who would be appalled by the size and breadth of the government. DC controls just about every facet of a citizen’s life while siting on a mountain of IOUs no one ever will collect. The bill, which will become law when President Trump signs it tonight at 5 PM Eastern (Lord willing), trims spending for the first time in...

UPS is offering voluntary buyouts to its full-time US drivers following its decision to slash 20,000 jobs and close 73 facilities. The Atlanta-based company will be providing its laid off employees with various benefits, including pensions and healthcare. The layoffs are part of UPS's network configuration plan, which also confirms the upcoming closures of over 90 more facilities in the future. The changes are part of the company's $3.5 billion cost reduction target for 2025, aiming to reach a 12 percent US operational margin by next year. UPS, which is one of the largest parcel delivery companies in the US,...

Microsoft applied for as many as 6,000 specialized migrant worker visas leading up to a decision to terminate 9,000 jobs globally, according to new reports. The global tech giant revealed this week it would cut around 4 percent of its global workforce as it ramps up investments in artificial intelligence. The move has seen loyal, long term American employees lose their livelihoods and sparked unrest at a time when President Donald Trump is trying to ramp up local production and employment. But data compiled by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service suggests that in the 2025 fiscal year, Microsoft has already...

One of former CIA Director John Brennan’s ex-employees has called for him to be prosecuted after the agency released a bombshell report outlining how he sought to use the agency to promote the Russia collusion hoax. The report discussed the details surrounding the creation of an Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) that claimed Russian President Vladimir Putin “aspired” to help President Donald Trump win the 2016 election. The CIA noted how Brennan became intimately involved in the process of compiling the ICA. Despite protests from his underlings, the former CIA director insisted on including information from the debunked Steele Dossier, which...

Taking to social media after the bill passed, Ocasio-Cortez expressed concerns with what the bill now means in terms of funding for ICE. "I don't think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ICE," the New York lawmaker posted on Bluesky. "This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA, & others combined." Cortez concluded, "It is setting up to make what's happening now look like child's play. And people are disappearing." "People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy....

It’s the Fourth of July, that most American holiday! Today we celebrate our independence; it’s our true “no Kings” day. There will be parades, barbeque, Americans pleased to be Americans, because being born in America means winning life’s lottery. Among our uniquely American traditions is the American muscle car, a wide, low, two-door sports coupe propelled by increasingly powerful V8 engines. The Mustang, Camaro, Challenger and Charger typified them. Original models were unsophisticated by modern standards, designed for straight line acceleration, but as technology advanced, so did they, and handling dramatically improved. Today, only the Mustang and Charger yet exist...

What do you do if something doesn’t work? Why, surely you should double down even harder on the things that make it not work. Right? That seems to be the attitude of voters who decided that Zohran Mamdani was the candidate for them in the New York City mayoral race. There are plenty of excuses that can be made for how New York ever had this woeful candidate put before us. You could point to the failure of the Democratic Party to put up viable and talented candidates. You might wonder at how Andrew Cuomo honestly thought that there was...

“‘A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit’” (Matthew 7:18). Careful examination of a false prophet’s teachings will always reveal unscriptural ideas and an absence of a solid, coherent theology. Often he will teach a combination of truth and error. But sooner rather than later his teachings will prove the sort of teacher he really is. As Jesus said to the Pharisees, “You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. The good man brings out of his...

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is celebrating the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill, a landmark piece of legislation that delivers long-awaited tax relief to millions of older Americans. The bill ensures that nearly 90% of Social Security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income taxes on their benefits, providing meaningful and immediate relief to seniors who have spent a lifetime contributing to our nation's economy. “This is a historic step forward for America’s seniors,” said Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano. “For nearly 90 years, Social Security has been a cornerstone of economic security for older Americans. By significantly...

Muslim Communist NYC Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani identified as “Asian” and “Black or African American” on his college application for Columbia University. The New York Times obtained this internal data from a hack of Columbia University. Columbia University used an affirmative action admissions program, so Mamdani, an Indian born in Uganda, checked ‘Black’ and ‘Asian’ to give himself an advantage over other applicants. When confronted about his Columbia University application, Zohran Mamdani told The New York Times that he checked those boxes to ‘capture the fullness” of his background. “Most college applications don’t have a box for Indian-Ugandans, so I...

Federal agency reminds Bass of her controversial Ghana trip while Los Angeles wildfires raged.. Immigration and Customs Enforcement clapped back at Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass after she suggested that federal immigration authorities "go home." .... "I don’t know if there’s a deal to be made. Like I told you, the deal that needs to be made is for them to go home," the Democrat said. ICE directly responded, noting that they will continue their operations in the city and in the region. "ICE isn't going anywhere and will continue to do what Mayor Bass has utterly failed to do...

I had my own run-in with a Democrat politician who was acting in a way that no politician has acted before in America. Democrats suffering from severe cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) are now displaying another symptom: staging ill-conceived confrontations to get street cred with their antifa progressive base. Some recent headlines: - North Carolina state Rep. Julie von Haefen attended a “No Kings” protest and was photographed holding what appeared to be an effigy of the decapitated heads of Trump and his senior policy advisor, Stephen Miller. - U.S. Representative LaMonica McIver was charged in a three-count indictment...

NEW YORK (AP) — The Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July hot dog eating contest is back, and famed competitive eater Joey “Jaws” Chestnut is hoping for a comeback 17th win on Friday. The 41-year-old, from Westfield, Indiana, was not in last year’s event due to a contract dispute involving a deal he had struck with a competing brand, the plant-based meat company Impossible Foods. But now he’s back, saying things have been ironed out. Patrick Bertoletti, of Chicago, won the title in Chestnut’s absence and is the defending men’s champion. In the women’s competition, defending champion Miki Sudo, 39, of...

Vladimir Putin has claimed in a phone call with Donald Trump that Russia played a role in the formation of the United States. Speaking a day before America celebrates Independence Day, the Russian leader reportedly congratulated Mr Trump about its national holiday, held on July 4. According to a report by Tass, a state-owned news agency, Yury Ushakov, the Russian presidential aide, said during the call “it was noted from our side that Russia played an important role in the formation of American statehood including during the War of Independence 250 years ago, and then during the Civil War, which...
