Federal agency reminds Bass of her controversial Ghana trip while Los Angeles wildfires raged..
Immigration and Customs Enforcement clapped back at Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass after she suggested that federal immigration authorities "go home."

"I don’t know if there’s a deal to be made. Like I told you, the deal that needs to be made is for them to go home," the Democrat said.
ICE directly responded, noting that they will continue their operations in the city and in the region.
"ICE isn't going anywhere and will continue to do what Mayor Bass has utterly failed to do – protect the citizens of Los Angeles. If she wants distance from federal law enforcement, I'm sure there is an upcoming diplomatic trip to Ghana," Emily Covington, assistant director, ICE Office of Public Affairs, said

The comment hearkened back to the mayor’s controversial visit to the African country earlier this year, which she visited to attend the country’s presidential inauguration.
She returned from the trip as fires were ripping through the city of Los Angeles, which destroyed significant portions of the beach-side community of Pacific Palisades.
The National Weather Service warned about the fire risk before she left on the trip, and the Los Angeles Times reported that her staff were aware that fires were possible. Bass later expressed regret over the trip, saying it was a mistake to travel at the time.

Oh, I forgot she’s a democrat. I read the other day that only 46 building permits have been issued since the fires, although she promised the city (and Trump) to expedite rebuilding. LA deserves better.

The comment hearkened back to the mayor’s controversial tax-paid junket to Ghana, the African country earlier this year, which she visited to attend the country’s presidential inauguration......and got her ego stroked bigtime on the taxpayers’ dime........while her town burnt to the ground.
Just who the hell does Mayr Bass think she is? They forget where LA is in the food chain.
It’s easy for people to forget (and I had forgotten too), but not long ago the DEMOCRATS were the ones against Illegal Immigration, while the Republicans supported Illegal Immigration. For the Democrats, their position was because Illegals were hurting union workers, while for the Republicans, union workers were hurting Americans (and still are, by the way), so adding non-union workers (Illegals) was something their GOP paymasters wanted.
The sides flipped when Bush Jr. opened the floodgates (more or less) and the Democrats then jettisoned the working class in favor of this HUGE class future voters...and then MAGA rightfully got worried about where the country was going and FINALLY dragged the Republicans into helping Trump clean up the country...which is where we are today.
What gets interesting is what happens next. If Trump is successful in cleaning up the country - which means the loss of the Illegal Vote, will Democrats flip-back to wanting to control immigration, in order to become a legitimate political party and be competitive? They just might.

What I don’t understand is why illegals come to the US and then protest to institute crap policies that they supposedly were trying to escape. That’s the difference between today’s immigration and that which took place 50 years ago. Back then, immigrants wanted to learn our culture and language and immerse themselves in the American dream. Today’s immigrants seem to want to change American into the hell-hole they just left. If that’s the case, go home and enjoy your culture and leave ours as it is.
The same thing happens when yankees move south.
Send that Mayor back to some miserable hole in Africa & leave her there. Maybe she can do some good there. She sure isn’t doing anything for L.A.

There also was a quota system for each country. Only so many hundred or thousand people per year were allowed to immigrate from a particular country. This slowed down the flood of people coming here and allowed the assimilation of people so entire communities of one particular nationality didn't get out of hand. If it was seen that there was one country's population was causing friction in an area of the US then the quota number was lowered to put a damper on it. It used to work quite well. I'd love to see the quota system of legal immigration come back.
