Vladimir Putin has claimed in a phone call with Donald Trump that Russia played a role in the formation of the United States.

Speaking a day before America celebrates Independence Day, the Russian leader reportedly congratulated Mr Trump about its national holiday, held on July 4.

According to a report by Tass, a state-owned news agency, Yury Ushakov, the Russian presidential aide, said during the call “it was noted from our side that Russia played an important role in the formation of American statehood including during the War of Independence 250 years ago, and then during the Civil War, which ended 160 years ago”.

He added: “It was stated that our countries are linked not only by the alliance in the First and Second World Wars, but also by deeper historical roots.”

Tsar Paul was the first European head of state to recognize the independence of the U.S., but Russia hardly gave it any support. Without the support of the French, the British would have ended the American rebellion in due course. Americans owed the French for their independence, not the Russians.

Looks as if no specifics were given by Putin to support the claim.

Putin is right of course. Russia did play a role in the formation of the United States. Maintaining a stance of armed neutrality, despite requests for military support from the crown. That was before rasputin and his communist thieves inspired the murder of 10 million people giving rise to the idiocracy of the USSR.

But laying all of that aside, there’s no reason why Americans and the Russians cannot be friends alongside the Chinese. We should all join together to oppose the real threat to civilization, which is the cancer of islamism and the jihad it’s child. And the stupidly deliberate ignorance of the democrats who try to use the jihad to propel their militancy.

China interfered in 2020 for Biden.

They may not share your views. However wise they are. And they are wise.

Yes, the entire world owes Russia a great debt for being the champion of liberty and freedom for a thousand years!

Can you even read that without laughing out loud?

Arrogant mongols.

Germany created the Soviet Union.

Not the worst geopolitical mistake the Germans ever made, but up there.

Agree, the French were the big players in our revolution. Putin knows Russian history about as well as anyone alive (and probably knows US history better than 90% of Americans, but then that’s not saying much), so I think Putin’s trolling a bit here...but no idea why.

I agree.
And lets add this:
Z-man Putin’s ancestors are Mongolian, he has nothing to do with Russia.
Real Russia started in Kiev +500 years before Moscow even existed.
The slavs of Kiev request the place to be governed by the Viking Rus (they came from Roslagen in Sweden) - and it worked fine.

“But laying all of that aside, there’s no reason why Americans and the Russians cannot be friends alongside the Chinese.”

OBVIOUSLY we can be friends with Russia, despite what we hear from the Biden activists. But China, not so much, at least until they jettison their government.

As far as dealing with Islam, India is the big one, as they understand Islam FAR BETTER than they ever wished to, given their 200 million or so Muslims in their country, plus another 200 million or so Muslims next door.

“Putin is right of course. Russia did play a role in the formation of the United States. Maintaining a stance of armed neutrality, despite requests for military support from the crown.”

A matter of zero material significance, for there was no cause to begin with for the Czar’s Russia to pose any military threat to Great Britain. The Czar was happy to let the British and French oppose each other at the time. Later, much later, Russia did side with Britain against Napoleon.

Not entirely false. You can say the same thing of any European country. Though Russia did its best to chase its people out. Especially its Jews.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I believe Putin is sorta right. They did fight with us in WW 1 and WW 2. Now saying that Russia helped create the US, I'm not sure.

That said, I'd like to see Trump and Putin meet. Russia could be an ally for us. We need to team up against Islam.
