Join with fellow FREEPERS to pray for AMERICA: For those in Authority in Government, Family, Military, Business, Agri-Business; End to Sex Slavery; Healthcare, Education, Churches, and the Media. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (1 John 5:14) I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone: for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. ~ 1 Timothy 2:1-2 Religion Forum Threads labeled [Prayer] are closed to...

Sir Keir Starmer has said he is hoping for peace in the Middle East in his first Christmas message as Prime Minister. The Labour leader also said he was looking towards a 'brighter future' after a turbulent start to his time in power that has seen riots after the Southport murders, a flatlining economy and a backlash to his Government's first Budget. He will enjoy his first holiday since the July election, spending Christmas at the PM's official country residence of Chequers, before going abroad with his wife and two children over New Year. It comes after allies of his...

We saw the new movie release ….. A Complete Unknown. This is a movie about Bob Dylan from his starts in 1961 to 1965. This was FANTASTIC. There are not enough superlatives to describe how well this movie was done, and how much I enjoyed it. Yes, I am a big fan of his music. This movie is a must own when it is available. There should be an academy award or two from this movie. Anyone else here see it today?

Charles Dickens’s immortal classic “A Christmas Carol” always pops up at Christmas-time in some form or fashion, whether it be through feature films, TV specials, animation, puppetry, or what have you. And while it has been portrayed on film numerous times in numerous different ways, each version has its own appeal and approach that connects with audiences most favorably. This is a unique dynamic in the movie industry because for one story, you have many different feels and flavors. Having said all that, I have many different versions of this story that I like a lot, however when I saw...

The standard medication levodopa does not always work against tremors in Parkinson's disease, especially in stressful situations. Propranolol, however, does work during stress, providing insight into the role of the stress system in tremors. MRI scans reveal that propranolol directly inhibits activity in the brain circuit that controls tremors. Doctors may consider this medication when levodopa is ineffective. People with Parkinson's disease report that tremors worsen during stressful situations. The commonly used drug levodopa usually helps with tremors, but it tends to be less effective during stress, when tremors are often at their worst. The medication in question, propranolol, is...

Researchers are behind a new discovery that tells us how associated neurodegenerative diseases might develop. At the center of this discovery stands a molecule called NAD, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. Nutrients, such as sugar or fat, are converted to a universal form of energy that our cells can use to maintain all energy-demanding functions. "NAD is central to these conversions as it functions like a rechargeable battery. An important part of this energy transfer takes place in cellular structures called mitochondria," Ziegler explains. Crucially, NAD also contributes to many other vital functions throughout the cell. It serves as a chemical...

Democrats are eager to turn the page on a poor year in which they lost again to President-elect Trump, who has swallowed up much of the spotlight well before he’s taken office for a second time. Biden for his part has embarked on several major foreign trips since the election. He also pardoned his son, is working on reaching a ceasefire deal in Gaza, upping assistance to Ukraine and working the holiday circuit while delivering speeches in and around Washington. He also made waves just before Christmas by announcing he was commuting the sentences of 37 people serving on federal...

President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday trolled Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau by promising to cut Canucks’ taxes if they agree to become “our 51st state,’’ while urging them to draft NHL great Wayne Gretzky to lead the country. “I just left Wayne Gretzky, ‘The Great One’ as he is known in Ice Hockey circles,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I said, ‘Wayne, why don’t you run for Prime Minister of Canada, soon to be known as the Governor of Canada – You would win easily, you wouldn’t even have to campaign,’” the president-elect said Trump — who thinks Canada has...

...The Draa ksar rises majestically in the middle of an ocean of dunes. It has a characteristic circular shape, stands out in the middle of the desert and its history has been lost over the centuries...Not even the locals are able to provide information on this very particular structure, the only news related to it is that for a certain period of time it was occupied by the Jews of the Timimoun region...A circular wall, about two meters high, surrounds the ksar towards the outside. This is also a circular one, consisting of a double wall, the external one in...

Former Rep. Max Rose (D-NY) claimed Wednesday on “MSNBC Reports” that the “nature’ of the MAGA base was “very angry, aggressive” and disregarded facts. Guest host Yamiche Alcindor said, “So, congressman, what do you make of this support for Matt Gaetz among Trump allies and do you think he will be able to really have a run for office especially after now this report comes out with all of these allegations?” Rose said, “This is pretty sick and disturbing thing to think about. That, one, there could be clear evidence that someone did these things while they were a member...

In a post on his Truth Social page, President Trump shared some information from Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick who is reporting that the border wall panels have been pulled from auction. Last Thursday, President-elect Trump submitted an amicus brief supporting an injunction to prevent the Biden administration from proceeding with the sale of the materials, as well as calling for an investigation into the legality of the auction. Earlier that week, President Trump remarked that the sale was “almost a criminal act” given that it was happening shortly before he was set to return to the White House. It...

Research has characterized how polymer-based commercial tea bags release millions of nanoplastics and microplastics when infused. The study shows for the first time the capacity of these particles to be absorbed by human intestinal cells, and are thus able to reach the bloodstream and spread throughout the body. Plastic waste pollution represents a critical environmental challenge with increasing implications for the well-being and health of future generations. Food packaging is a major source of micro and nanoplastic (MNPLs) contamination and inhalation and ingestion is the main route of human exposure. A study has successfully obtained and characterized micro and nanoplastics...

A research team found that a subset of artificial heart patients can regenerate heart muscle, which may open the door to new ways to treat and perhaps someday cure heart failure. There is no cure for heart failure, though medications can slow its progression. The only treatment for advanced heart failure, other than a transplant, is pump replacement through an artificial heart, called a left ventricular assist device. Said Hesham Sadek, MD, Ph.D., "When a heart muscle is injured, it doesn't grow back. We have nothing to reverse heart muscle loss." Sadek led a collaboration between international experts to investigate...

Unfortunately, The Trump Cabinet Will Likely Expand the Surveillance StateDecember 25, 2024 | SundanceThe surveillance state is an outcropping of the Fourth Branch of Government, which is, essentially, the unelected intelligence community in control of our government. The surveillance state comes from the creation of the Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) which is an entirely inward-looking agency. Prior to the Patriot Act, the surveillance sweep searching for terror threats focused outward, looking outside the U.S borders. The Patriot Act took the surveillance sweep a full 360 degrees and looked inside the Homeland for terror threats. Hence, DHS was created. The office of...

In an analysis of data from more than a dozen studies, coffee and tea consumption was linked with lower risks of developing head and neck cancer, including cancers of the mouth and throat. Head and neck cancer is the seventh most common cancer worldwide, and rates are rising in low- and middle-income countries. Many studies have assessed whether drinking coffee or tea is associated with head and neck cancer, with inconsistent results. To provide additional insight, investigators examined data from 14 studies. Study participants completed questionnaires about their prior consumption of caffeinated coffee, decaffeinated coffee, and tea in cups per...

The best time to buy an electric vehicle may be right now. That’s because a $7,500 federal tax credit could soon disappear. President-elect Donald Trump has said he will move to eliminate the tax credit, possibly as soon as he takes office. It is even conceivable that the tax credit’s elimination could be made retroactive to the beginning of January, which would give EV buyers only a week left to be certain of locking in the credit. “I would be very inclined to say yes, it’s going away,” said Ivan Drury, director of insights at car buying site Edmunds. While...
