Wishing all my fellow Jews a very happy Chanukah!
Pass the latkes!

Don’t forget the horseradish for the gefilte fish.
I am by blood Jewish but was raised Lutheran. When Great Great Grandpa got to America, he decided that we’d be ‘Lutherans’ because he didn’t want to put up with the sh#t he put up with in Europe as a German Jew.
Much of my childhood was pretty confusing - but I got a good education on all of it. :)
Dad always called our Christmas Tree the, ‘Chanukah Bush.’ ;)
Chag urim sameach!
Am Yisrael Chai!

A letter from the Australian opposition leader. As you can see not all Aussies are against Israel. The super antisemite government of Albanese and Wong will eventually fall! In fact - any enemy of Israel will eventually fall!

It’s rare for Christmas and Hanukkah to start on the same day. It has happened only five times since 1900.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah
You don’t have to celebrate Christmas if you are convinced of its pagan origins, but to miss out on the opportunity to tell the world the reason for the season would be an act of self-righteousness. If the Apostle Paul could be in the middle of pagan Athens and quote one of their pagan poets in order to steer the conversation to the real God, we can do the same!
It’s hard to keep your feet dry when you’re kicking in a .......
I mean ‘strolling through a dewy meadow’......
And a Happy Chanukah to you, FRiend!
I guess I’ll have to skip the opportunity “to tell the world the reason for the season”. I am simply not interested in the beliefs of other religions, pagan or not. It is certainly not “act of self-righteousness”; it’s simply I have zero interest in them or reason to pay attention.
My roommate was Jewish and was going to marry a Jewish orthodox boy whose family had been caught in the Holocaust. She’d always celebrated Christmas in her family, but we knew this would be her last Christmas. So she stayed over with us that year and slept under the Christmas tree.
Which is how we discovered she was allergic to pine trees.
So when she developed breast cancer in latter years, they knew to keep an eye on her during chemo and, sure enough, that old Chanukah Bush warning saved her when she had a reaction to one of the medicines. Definitely, a Tree of Life.
Chicago was a great place to grow up in the 50’s. We celebrated everything. Christmas and Chanukah were both celebrated and enjoyed by everyone. We had dreidels and latkes and hamantaschen debates over which were the better, as well as trees decorated with paper ornaments and we had menorahs, though not lit for fire safety. And we sang Jewish and Christian songs with equal off-key enthusiasm.
No one was pushed to believe anything. The holidays were to be enjoyed and historically understood. I don’t remember a single student who wasn’t part of the educational process for everything. You didn’t become Jewish by trying to spin a dreidel, and you didn’t become Christian by putting a star on the tree. You learned about diversity without coercion. Santa was important, too, for those who weren’t in either of those camps, or who just enjoyed him.
Not Jewish, but wish our Fellow Jewish Freepers a Happy Chanukah.
I had to research what a Latke was.(A thin Fried Potato Cake)
Sounds yummy to me.
Happy Inspirational Chanukkah to all.
Thank you! Hanukkah Sameach!
May the light and joy spread all over!
I had my Latkes
Niceeeee!
“A Great Miracle happened there!”
We prepared & enjoyed traditional latkes here, with our family.
