This Chanukah, there is much that will weigh heavily on the minds of Jewish people in Israel, around the world, and here in Australia. There’s the plight of the hostages who remain in Hamas’s captivity. There’s the chilling reality that in Israel’s hours of need since 7 October 2023, some of its allies have shamefully behaved more like adversaries and demanded standards of Israel which they would never expect of themselves in similar circumstances. And there’s the sordid moral inversion of the International Criminal Court that has criminalised Israeli leaders for taking the fight to those terrorists responsible for the...

Forgive us if we missed it, but we don’t recall Donald Trump campaigning to invade Panama and retake its famous canal. But there was the President-elect on the weekend, threatening our Central American ally with punishment if it doesn’t meet his demands. “Our Navy and commerce have been treated in a very unfair and injudicious way. The fees being charged by Panama are ridiculous, highly unfair, especially knowing the extraordinary generosity that has been bestowed to Panama—I say, very foolishly, by the United States,” Mr. Trump told a crowd in Phoenix. “This complete ripoff of our country will immediately stop.”...

On Christmas Eve, Paris Hilton left little to the imagination in her sexy holiday shoot beneath a towering, decorated tree. The 43-year-old hotel heiress-turned-DJ appeared to stage the snaps in the grand foyer of her $5.9M 'Slivington Manor' located in Beverly Hills' Mulholland Estates gated community. Paris was completely nude aside from a specifically-placed red bow shielding her modesty, matching Chanel fingerless gloves, and a pair of slingback heels selected by stylist Rayna Julia. Tan-Luxe airbrush artist Alexandra DiMarchi gave Hilton's slim 5ft8in figure a bronzed glow and make-up artist Melissa Hurkman fully contoured her complexion.

Remember Washington’s prayer at Valley Forge. It is arguably the most iconic image from the American Revolution. You can find drawings, paintings, and sculptures commemorating its significance in town halls, courthouses, libraries, churches, and veterans’ associations throughout the country. Variations were once commonly displayed in homes, schools, and businesses. Is it Paul Revere’s historic engraving of the Boston Massacre? Or Emanuel Leutze’s famous Washington Crossing the Delaware? Or perhaps John Trumbull’s The Declaration of Independence? Those are all good answers, but the image of which I write is of George Washington kneeling in silent prayer near the Continental Army’s winter...

Many Ukrainians were celebrating without heat or power after Russia launched a Christmas Day assault on the country’s energy infrastructure, an act that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned as “inhuman.” “Today, Putin deliberately chose Christmas for an attack. What could be more inhuman,” Zelenskyy said in a post on X early Wednesday. "Every Russian massive strike takes time to prepare. It is never a spontaneous decision. It is a conscious choice not only of targets, but also of time and date." Over 70 Russian missiles and more than a hundred drones targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, with Ukrainian forces successfully shooting...

A world in which Christ had never been born, and therefore a world in which there was no Christmas and no Christian faith or influence, would be a dystopian nightmare we can only fearfully imagine. Without Jesus, we would have no example of the self-giving, sacrificial love of the Son of God or of God the Father who sent His only Son to redeem the world from our sin—our separation from and rebellion against God. But when we begin to look around, startlingly, one does not have to do a “deep dive” into the history books or look too far...

A Pennsylvania woman was arrested on felony forgery, public records tampering and voter registration-related charges based on allegations she tried to fraudulently register dead people, including her own father, to vote in the 2024 election. Jennifer Hill, from the Chester area, was arrested Thursday and accused of attempting to add four ineligible individuals to the voter rolls, including her late father. Delaware County's Democratic district attorney, Jack Stollsteimer, said in public remarks that Hill used an app to register 324 people as a staffer for a group called the New Pennsylvania Project. Stollsteimer said the Pennsylvania Department of State makes...

The Biden administration just settled a lawsuit to fully reopen the largest private migrant detention center in the US — “rolling the red carpet’’ out for President-elect Trump’s mass deportation plan, liberal critics say. There are currently just three detainees being held at the 1,940-bed Adelanto ICE Processing Center about 80 miles northeast of Los Angeles, according to ICE data. That’s because the massive facility has been under a judge’s order since 2020 blocking it from taking in more detainees thanks to a lawsuit concerning the spread of COVID there. But with the recent settlement with the Democratic White House,...

As Luigi Mangione pleaded not guilty Monday to state murder and terrorism charges in the brazen killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, supporters of the suspect continued to donate tens of thousands of dollars for a defense fund established for him, leaving law enforcement officials worried Mangione is being turned into a martyr. Several online defense funds have been created for Mangione by anonymous people, including one on the crowdfunding website GiveSendGo that as of Tuesday morning had raised over $200,000.

The union representing Starbucks baristas said on Tuesday that a strike against the java giant has expanded to more than 300 locations — with about 10,000 coffeehouse workers walking off the job on Christmas Eve. Baristas in more than 50 cities including New York, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Seattle and Chicago have walked the picket line since Friday demanding better wages and work conditions. The extent to which the work stoppage has damaged Starbucks business is unclear. According to company filings cited by the New York Times, a typical company-owned Starbucks location in the United States generates anywhere...

“God highly exalted Him . . . to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9, 11). When the Son is glorified, so is the Father. The purpose of Christ’s exaltation is to glorify God. Philippians 2:11 says Jesus will be acknowledged as Lord “to the glory of God the Father.” In Isaiah 45:5 God says, “I am the Lord, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God.” None can be compared to God. He does not ask anyone for advice. He knows all and does exactly what He wants to do. All His purposes come to...

Israel will begin targeting leaders of Yemen’s Houthi rebel group, Defense Minister Israel Katz said Tuesday, vowing that Israel will not allow missile and drone fire on Israel to continue unchecked. Firing at Houthi leaders would seem to mark an escalation by Israel, which has so far targeted port infrastructure and military sites in a handful of sorties in response to repeated launches of drones and ballistic missiles from Yemen. A missile fired early Tuesday was shot down, but sirens in the Tel Aviv area caused widespread panic and a rush to shelter left one woman seriously injured. It was...

How does a man end up in a women's prison in California? Thanks to progressives in the state legislature, all it takes is for the man to declare himself a woman. Three years ago, Democrats enacted Senate Bill 132, also known as "The Transgender Respect, Agency and Dignity Act." As one prosecutor explains, the law requires no medical transition, no psychological evaluation, and no other medical assessment. What happens when this law gets put into effect in prisons? Pretty much what everyone would expect. Tremaine Carroll impregnated one fellow inmate after declaring himself a woman and then allegedly raped two...

Bishops within the Church of England have raised concerns that certain Christmas carols might be “problematic” because of their explicit references to Jesus as the “true Messiah.” The Birmingham Diocese recently communicated to its clergy the need to reassess the language used in hymns to create an “inclusive” environment during the festive season. The Birmingham Diocese instructed clergy to “use language that won’t add further confusion or tension or take away anything from the good news of the Nativity,” The Mail on Sunday reported, citing the email. The hymns under scrutiny include “Lo, He Comes With Clouds Descending,” a favorite...
