The US Navy surface fleet continues to shrink. And every surface hull commissioned after the Arleigh Burke class in 1991 has been a failure. The Chinese Navy exceeds the US Navy in total warships deployed. What makes this even more astonishing is that the Chinese maintain a regional naval power with optional blue water projection capabilities (mind you, untested) while the US maintains the fiction of a global capability. The current U.S. fleet is smaller, with more than 280 vessels. The Secretary of the Navy expects that strength to reach 300 in the early 2030s which is a pipe dream...

WASHINGTON — In his first memoir, President Joe Biden reflected on what at the time was the most searing moment of his political career. He had withdrawn from his first presidential campaign in disgrace, driven out by charges of plagiarism. Now, some 37 years after that flameout, Biden’s epitaph weighed heavily as he made surely the hardest political decision of his long career in Washington to give up the presidency after just one term and end his bid for reelection. As he sat in isolation with COVID at his Delaware beach house these past few days, hacking and hacked off,...

KEY POINTS * Hamas and Fatah have been bitter enemies ever since the bloody 2006-2007 civil war in the Gaza Strip. * But this is far from the first time the rival groups have signed reconciliation pacts, only to return to hostilities due to persistent disagreements. * The development is significant for China, which has increasingly moved to expand its role in international diplomacy.

(The Center Square) - Giving Americans $1,000 per month makes them worse off, says a new three-year, 3000-participant study. The National Bureau of Economic Research’s massive study found recipients and their partners work and earn less, with the negative effect on wages and earnings getting worse over time. While proponents of universal basic income theorized such programs would improve non-economic metrics for recipients, the study surprisingly showed only leisure time increased as recipients spent less time on sleeping, child care, community engagement, caring for others, and self improvement. Transfers also reduced recipients’ non-transfer incomes significantly, with the study finding “for...

President Biden is under intense pressure from Democrats to withdraw from the race. Some news reports say he is on the verge of doing so. On the other hand, Biden is a cognitively impaired, angry, and corrupt old man who will do anything to cling to power. Last week, in his post-NATO summit “big boy” press conference, Biden was asked if he would withdraw from the race if his team showed him data that Kamala Harris would fare better against Trump. His answer was “no.” He said he would only consider stepping down if, in addition, there was “no way”...

Kamala Harris's rambling 'word salad' speeches may be a symptom of a little-known but common psychological condition called logorrhoea — also known as verbal diarrhoea. The US Vice President, who was endorsed by Joe Biden after he bowed out of the presidential race on Sunday, is known for her jumbled, sometimes incoherent speaking style.... It can be a symptom of anxiety or over-confidence, but logorrhoea can be no laughing matter — and may indicate a brain injury, autism or serious condition, although there is no indication that Ms Harris suffers from these conditions. Logorrhoea is also associated with laughing wildly...

In Monday's interview on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) offered his perspective on the sudden shift in the Democratic presidential race, criticizing media pressure on President Joe Biden while holding off on an immediate endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. Sanders, who had previously supported Biden's reelection bid, expressed concern about the media's role in pushing the President out of the race. The Vermont senator's hesitation to immediately endorse Harris stands in contrast to the wave of support she has received from within the Democratic Party. "Vice President Harris has now been endorsed by at least 41...

U.S. — After learning that Joe Biden would not seek a second presidential term, his son Hunter took it upon himself to advise all the foreign governments that had previously sent him bribe money that there would be no refunds. "Sorry, no refunds!" Hunter informed members of the Chinese government. "I believe I made that very clear when we first drew up the deal. You can still send me money, I might be able to get you a meeting with Kamala. She's like my best friend." Several foreign governments have expressed buyer's remorse. "Ugh, what am I going to do...

First of all, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa, yes, I did a quick house cleaning yesterday. Forgive me, readers, for I cleaned, and as we all know when I clean things go weird. Not that this is all that weird, except for the fact that it has all the appearance of a palace coup. As in, one does wonder if Biden knows he dropped out of his campaign. One does wonder, at that, if Biden is alive, or sufficiently compus mentis to know that he has dropped out. And that’s if he knew he was running in the first place,...

This is strangely an open question tonight. Ostensibly to be answered soon when Joe steps back into the White House Tuesday, if that happens. The controversy as to whether or not the President is alive or on his death bed has spurred a "delete your account if you're wrong" war between two competing breaking news accounts on X, with the one asserting Joe is undergoing hospice care and soon to perish forwarding the bet AND calling on Elon Musk to enforce it. Talk about having skin in the game, especially given the weight of the claim.

Former President Donald Trump is threatening to file suit against Special Counsel Jack Smith over the August 2022 FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Smith to lead an independent investigation into Trump's post-presidency handling of classified documents and his actions leading up to the January 6 attack U.S. Capitol attack in November 2022, three months after the former president's South Florida home was searched in relation to the documents case. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed by Trump and has frequently been accused of bias in his favor, dismissed the documents case last week while...
