Hunter Biden will sit for a closed-door interview on February 28, along with five Biden family associates at various dates, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) and Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced Thursday. The announcement came as a surprise to some Republicans. Last week, the chairmen went through procedural hurdles to prepare for a House vote to hold Hunter in contempt of Congress for failing to sit for the deposition.

The Pentagon said Thursday that its message to Iran — who is funding proxy attacks against U.S. forces and military and commercial ships in the Middle East — is that the United States does not seek a regional conflict. Asked by a reporter at a press briefing what the Pentagon’s message to Iran is, Deputy Defense Press Secretary Sabrina Singh responded: I think our message has been very clear from the beginning. We know Iran funds, supports, equips, trains these groups, the very groups that you just listed out in places throughout — whether it be Iraq and Syria, in...

United Airlines is the “Bud Light” of the airline world. They’ve shifted gears, moving away from their core customer base, which prioritizes safety and security. Now, it’s all about drag queens and flamboyant celebrations. But is this the direction most air travelers want? Hardly. Flyers don’t want in-flight gay entertainment featuring CEOs in ladies’ pantyhose or a strong push on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). When passengers board a plane, their primary concern is a competent, professional pilot, not one who’s more interested in theatrics and show tunes. This trend in air travel is starting to mirror our “woke” military,...

A bill being debated in Maine’s state legislature would give authorities the power to take children away from parents who oppose allowing medical providers to impose “gender-affirming care” onto their children. The bill, LD1735, is explicit about this startling new power In its summary, for instance, directly states, “The bill authorizes a court to take temporary jurisdiction because a child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care.” There seems to be no provision made for religious objection. Parents would have no parental rights on the issue; either they allow their children to be exposed...

Beverly Hills is supposed to plan for more than 3,100 new homes, most of them affordable, but because the state has denied the feasibility of the city’s plans, “Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Curtis A. Kin blocked the city from issuing all building permits except for new residential development,” the Los Angeles Times reports.

Iran could produce enough fuel for six nuclear bombs in just one month and even produce a single atomic bomb in as little as a week, a former UN inspector has warned, as fears of a growing regional conflict surge. Weapons expert David Albright has issued out a sobering warning about the destructive potential of Iran’s arsenal, due to the country’s ability to produce large amounts of weapon-grade uranium. "Iran can quickly make enough weapon-grade uranium for many nuclear weapons, something it could not do in 2003,” he said. "Today, it would need only about a week to produce enough...

Ah, the media dance with Trump continues – a tale of twists, turns, and perhaps a touch of drama. It's no secret that the New York Times seems to have an obsession with the man, and the article count comparing Trump to Biden only fuels the fire. But hey, accusing the media of carrying water for a felon and potentially leading us into a dictatorship? That's some heavy stuff. Gaslighting is the name of the game, it seems. Just throw some names around without any real substance, and voila – you've got a narrative. And don't even get me started...

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday took Republicans to task over a report that GOP governors in 15 states are shunning a new federally-funded food assistance program for hungry kids in the summer. “What is wrong with these people?” Clinton asked on X, formerly Twitter. The 2016 Democratic presidential candidate shared The Washington Post’s coverage of the move and quoted the first paragraph of its story: “Republican governors in 15 states are rejecting a new federally funded program to give food assistance to hungry children during the summer months, denying benefits to 8 million children across the country.”

The newspaper intends to “imminently execute another major round of layoffs,” according to the bargaining committee ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The L.A. Times Guild called an emergency meeting on Thursday after leadership was told that the newspaper intends to “imminently execute another major round of layoffs,” according to a memo. The Bargaining Committee told members that it can’t say exactly how many staffers the company is intending to lay off, however, in the memo obtained by the New York Times, the union says “This is the Big One.” The Times “has asked the Guild to gut seniority protections in our contract so that...

Supporters of former President Donald Trump cite his economic record as a reason to vote for him, but that's a bit puzzling. Why it matters: Trump's economic record is only good if you leave off what happened from March 2020 to the end of his administration. Zoom in: When the pandemic hit, the jobless rate soared to a record 14.8% — a level not seen since the Great Depression. The rate did come down a bit after that, but when Trump left office there were fewer jobs in the country than when he got there — the first time that's...

State Rep. Justin Humphrey introduced a bill on Tuesday that would ban furries from public schools across the state — and allow animal control to round up those who defy the proposed law. “Students who purport to be an imaginary animal or animal species, or who engage in anthropomorphic behavior commonly referred to as furries at school shall not be allowed to participate in school curriculum or activities,” House Bill 3084 states. The legislation would require parents or guardians to pick up their child from school. Otherwise, “animal control services shall be contacted to remove the student,” the bill states......

+ + + In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. + + + Where to start when it comes to this fallen world and its inability clearly to make use of words? To define things and keep the definitions straight? To call a thing simply what it is and leave it at that? The first time a question mark was ever used as punctuation in Sacred Scripture, it was the devil speaking, “Did God say?” And because Eve entertained that doubt and acted upon it, you now live in a world where...

The internet has been a huge boon for the accessibility of information. There are very few barriers to consuming classic literature or detailed scientific analyses or catalogues of news reports. Cut through the 2024 election noise. Get The Campaign Moment newsletter. While confidence in American institutions has been in decline for some time, it’s not hard to imagine how the economic incentives of the internet contribute....

The House Oversight Committee reported Thursday Kevin Morris said that he gave Hunter Biden at least $5 million to pay off his tax debts and personal expenses and purchased over half of Hunter Biden's artwork, confirming months of reporting by Just the News. "Kevin Morris’s massive financial support to Hunter Biden raises ethical and campaign finance concerns for President Joe Biden. Shortly after meeting Hunter Biden at a Joe Biden campaign event in 2019, Kevin Morris began paying Hunter Biden’s tax liability to insulate then-presidential candidate Joe Biden from political liability," Chairman James Comer said in a statement. "Kevin Morris...

After Wednesday’s meeting at the White House with President Biden and 20 congressional leaders, McConnell declared that he was done trying to placate Ukraine skeptics in Johnson’s conference. There’s roughly $110 billion on the table that would bolster Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s defense against Russia, along with helping Israel and Taiwan, and provide billions of dollars to shore up the U.S. border along Mexico.

The House passed a short-term spending extension only hours after the bill cleared the Senate, pushing the next shutdown threat to March and surrendering Republican leverage on enacting a border security package. The continuing resolution (CR) passed 314-108, extending spending levels and priorities set by then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in December 2022 during a lame-duck session of Congress.
