Amid Israel's ongoing war with Hamas, Jewish entertainment figures have come together to issue an open letter to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences criticizing their exclusion from being specified as an underrepresented group. "An inclusion effort that excludes Jews is both steeped in and misunderstands antisemitism," reads the letter, organized by the group Jew in the City's Hollywood Bureau for Jewish Representation. "Jewish people being excluded from the Motion Picture Academy's Representation and Inclusion Standards is discriminating against a protected class by invalidating their historic and genetic identity."

WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris’ aircraft was forced to divert to a Washington-area airport after encountering stormy weather Tuesday night as she returned from a trip to Georgia. Press secretary Kirsten Allen said in a statement, “Tonight, en route from Atlanta, GA, Air Force 2 was diverted from Joint Base Andrews to Dulles International Airport due to inclement weather.”

The ongoing spate of antisemitism and anti-Israel protests sweeping the country following Hamas’s attacks on Israeli civilians last October are just the latest example of how the Democrat establishment has lost control of the radical left-wing activist class it has fostered and egged on for years. With a major election now less than a year away, the escalating extremism of these activists could cost Democrats big at the ballot box. After Hamas’s terrorist attack left more than 1,200 innocent civilians dead, most elected Democrats – with notable exceptions like “Squad” members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar – condemned...

It was an uncharacteristic day for Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. It just also happened to be the biggest day of his collegiate career. In college football’s season finale, Michigan vitiated Washington and the usual magnificence of Penix to claim the College Football Playoff national championship for the first time and the program’s first title since the 1997 season. Penix went 27-of-51 passing for 255 yards and one touchdown — the only Washington TD on the night — against two interceptions. It was, statistically, a performance discouraging of complaints, but overthrown open passes and missed third-down conversions (2 for 14)...

When the votes are being tallied in Taiwan’s presidential election, it won’t be only the 23.6 million inhabitants of the island eagerly awaiting a result – in Beijing and Washington, too, there will be some anxious faces. The vote of January 13, 2024, is seen as a litmus test for the future of cross-strait relations, coming at a time when the status quo over Taiwan – a territory Beijing claims as an integral part of “one China” – is being challenged. If Taiwan’s incumbent, independence-oriented party stays in power, Chinese leader Xi Jinping might feel he has no choice but...

Last spring, I co-led a working group at the University of Wyoming tasked with articulating the principles of freedom of expression, intellectual freedom, and constructive dialogue. In addition to describing these principles, we were charged with making recommendations for operationalizing, communicating, and practicing them on campus. This essay explains how we accomplished the task and the opportunities UW (or any university) has to implement some of our recommendations. The president of the university, Ed Seidel, ast spring, I co-led a working group at the University of Wyoming tasked with articulating the principles of freedom of expression, intellectual freedom, and constructive dialogue....

Ordinarily, an election on a small island halfway around the world would be of little consequence to the United States. Taiwan, however, is another matter. Its voters will go to the polls Saturday, January 13 (the evening of January 12, U.S. time), to choose their next president. The first-past-the-post contest likely will go down to the wire, with three candidates still vying for the job one week from Election Day. The favorite is Lai Ching-te, Taiwan’s current vice president and the candidate atop the ticket for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). The Economist’s final polling averages, last updated January 2,...

She wasn’t even old enough to drive when she had her first abortion. At the tender age of 15, Kelly — like so many girls — was haunted by the surgery. So by 19, when she found herself in the same situation, pregnant with a child she didn’t want, she decided to try something else: chemical abortion. She thought it would be “easier, less traumatic,” but it wasn’t. Instead, she says, “it was one of the most horrific experiences of my life.” Kelly would go on to have two more abortions after this one, but nothing compared to this nightmare....

The American-made speed machine could sell for up to $150,000. The Dodge Viper may have gone production years ago, but you it’s still possible to find examples in impeccable shape. One of those Vipers, a 1997 GTS, is about to go up for grabs as part of RM Sotheby’s annual Miami sale in early March. The bright red coupé doesn’t just look good, though—it’s also got just 64 miles on the odometer. Dodge may have started building muscle cars in the 1960s, but it didn’t get into the sports car game until the beginning of the 1990s. That was when...

Trump is Dylann Roof and believing the 2020 election was stolen is the Civil War. Who is writing these talking points? It’s surreal. ABC News: In his first visit to an early voting state this year, President Joe Biden on Monday in Charleston, South Carolina, warned MAGA Republicans led by former President Donald Trump “tried to steal an election” and “now they’re trying to steal history.”

A baby boy born in Missouri last month has made a lasting impact though he only lived for four minutes after birth. His parents have called him a “fighter.” Baby Alexander was diagnosed at 22 weeks with anencephaly, in which his skull did not properly form. Most children with anencephaly will die shortly after birth, though there has been at least one well-known case in which the child survived for three years and nine months. Alexander’s parents, Abraham and Christine Jacobs, were heartbroken. Already parents to one son, Ezekiel, they were told that if Alexander survived to birth, he would...

One of the most staggering things to come out of the mid-flight incident in which the door of an Alaskan Airlines flight ripped off moments after take-off is that one passenger’s iPhone was allegedly found under a bush in working condition after plummeting 16,000 feet. This is wild because other iPhones have been unable to survive getting knocked off the table. According to CBS News, a man named Sean Bates stumbled across a phone sitting under a bush in Washington. He said that the phone was in airplane mode and was displaying a baggage receipt for Alaska Airlines Flight 1282....

Disclaimer: The opinions expressed in this guest post are solely those of the guest author. Minor edits have been made for clarity. I have an amazing son named Andrew, but everyone knows him as Andy. He’s a three-year-old miracle baby diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Trisomy 18. Trisomy 18 is where the 18th chromosome has three copies instead of two like a typical person would have. Some of us in the Trisomy community call them “extra chromie homies.” If you Google this diagnosis, the results are pretty much all negative. We are here to show the world that...

U.S. destroyers shot down 24 drones and missiles fired by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, constituting the largest attack on commercial shipping in the Red Sea since tensions escalated in October, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed Tuesday. The Department of Defense is operating a panoply of naval assets in the region as part of Operation Prosperity Guardian, a U.S.-led coalition to defend critical waterways from repeated threats by the Houthis. Three guided-missile destroyers, the USS Mason, USS Gravely and USS Laboon, and F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier engaged the mix of drones and...

Legendary NY sports radio host Mike Francesa blasted the NFL this week ... accusing the league of putting profit over loyal fans, opting to exclusively stream the Chiefs vs. Dolphins playoff game on a paid streaming platform, and NOT free TV. "The NFL, which has the biggest, the best, and the most loyal fanbase anywhere, decides to basically thumb its nose at its fanbase and just make another greedy reach for another bundle of money, like they need it," Francesa said on his BetRivers show, ripping the NFL for the decision which reportedly netted the league around $110 million. Mike...

The sobering truth from Peter is that suffering for what’s right as God defines it is an essential part, an indispensable part, of the normal Christian life. So intent is the Apostle on getting this message across to us that he mentions it in every chapter of his first letter (1:6-7; 2:19-20; 3:13-17; 4:12-16; 5:8-10). This is his message because he’s well aware that, according to many in this world, Christians should be shamed and pressured to conform or be canceled. Peter says, “Don’t give in. Brace yourself to face whatever trials come your way with joy.” Wait, what? Please...

When Nancy Pelosi appeared on ABC’s Sunday morning talk show “This Week,” the former House Speaker made a dubious claim that would undoubtedly come as a surprise to many of the key decision-makers on Capitol Hill during the events of January 6. Former Speaker Pelosi, who has been less than forthright about her controversial role in the leadup to and during the Capitol Riots, has added a new wrinkle to her story about what she did to secure the Congress on that fateful day. “It’s very clear what happened that day,” she claimed. “And at that same time, from the...
