Pope Francis to lay groundwork for the future at World Youth Day in LisbonThe Argentine is expected to use the event to solidify the changes he believes are necessary for the 21st century church. When Pope Francis made the first foreign trip of his papacy in 2013, to mark World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, he urged young people to make a “mess” in their local churches, to shake things up, even if it ruffled the feathers of their bishops. As he embarks this week on another edition of World Youth Day, in Lisbon, Portugal, Francis in many ways has...

Recently, Saddleback Church, which is now “pastored” by Andy Wood and his wife, Stacie, did something unusual. Well, actually it isn’t all that unusual—this behavior is a disturbing trend in modern Evangelicalism. The husband-wife pastor duo dressed up like characters from the Toy Story movie and preached a sermon about it. This act, as entertaining as it may seem to goats, actually disrespects the Bible and its teachings. Instead of lifting God’s Word high, it makes it feel like a cheesy Hollywood script. In the Bible, Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps...

Police officers allegedly stood by and watched for 15 minutes as a man who relapsed on heroin drowned in the Tennessee River after fleeing from them, according to a newly filed lawsuit. Kimberly Williams-Clabo claims her son, Mika Wheeler Clabo, would still be alive if it weren’t for the alleged negligence of the Knoxville Police Department, which encountered him “acting erratically” on the morning of July 25, 2022. Police said that when they approached Clabo, 30, who struggled with a heroin addiction, he ran from them and jumped into the river, where he got caught on vines and drowned.

One sentence — 13 words — out of the thousands spoken last Wednesday over the course of the three hours that federal prosecutors, defense attorneys, Hunter Biden, and Judge Maryellen Noreika discussed the president’s son’s plea agreement suggests the Department of Justice and Hunter Biden are attempting to commit fraud on a federal court. On Wednesday, Hunter Biden appeared before a federal court in Delaware prepared to enter a guilty plea on two misdemeanor tax counts. The hearing, however, did not go as planned when Judge Noreika, rather than rubberstamping the sweetheart deal the Biden administration had entered into with...

Life.Church kicked off their At the Movies campaign with a Super Mario Brothers theme, decorating several of their churches and crafting a sermon based around the adventures of Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Princess Preach, and various other stray Koopa that may make it into a sermon illustration. It’s not a one-off for the 85,000-member, seeker-sensitive, multi-site-based Oklahoma church that has 40 locations, but rather something they do every year. Led by Craig Groeschel, the pastor and lead visionary who is an awful preacher and habitual scripture- twister, and who recently launched the metaverse for the megachurch, their promo material explains: At...

MARTHA'S VINEYARD — After posting a job listing to fill their vacant personal chef position, former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, were disappointed to learn it had received zero applications. "Why wouldn't anyone want this job?" an exasperated Michelle was heard asking her servant's personal assistant's driver at the Obamas' lavish estate. "Working for us is one of the greatest privileges anyone could experience. As long as you don't stick your nose where it doesn't belong, you'll be well-compensated and you'll get to stay alive! Where's the downside?" In the absence of someone to prepare meals, Barack has...

The U.S. has for years been giving Iraq tens of billions of dollars to help with its finances on the specific condition that the country reduces its imports of gas and electricity from Iran eventually to zero. Iran has wielded enormous power over Iraq for a very long time indeed through its various political, economic, and military proxies. Iraq will pay with its own oil supplies for the gas and electricity that it has long been importing from Iran. Ever since the U.S. officially ended its ‘combat mission’ in Iraq on 31 December 2021, it has been looking for a...

Summertime is ‘Church at the movies’ time for many seeker-sensitive and biblically illiterate churches, and the usual blockbuster films are prime pickings: Mission Impossible, Transformers, Super Mario, and even the newest ‘Barbie’ film. These PG and PG-13 films are all ripe for industrious pastors to pluck ‘life lessons’ out of and to uncover the ‘spiritual truths’ out of Bowser singing ‘Peaches’ or Optimus Prime ‘transforming’ into a new creation. This is where churches decorate the entire building (or at least the lobby and sanctuary) with movie-themed accouterments, hand out popcorn and drinks, and in the case of Barbie week, ask...

Drag Queen Flamy Grant (Real name Matthew Blake) is celebrating after his debut album ‘Bible Belt Baby’ hit the number #1 spot on the iTunes Christian albums chart ten months after its release. His single ‘Good Day’ also made it to the top of the iTunes Christian singles, fueled partly by some drama between him and Sean Feucht.
