Summertime is ‘Church at the movies’ time for many seeker-sensitive and biblically illiterate churches, and the usual blockbuster films are prime pickings: Mission Impossible, Transformers, Super Mario, and even the newest ‘Barbie’ film. These PG and PG-13 films are all ripe for industrious pastors to pluck ‘life lessons’ out of and to uncover the ‘spiritual truths’ out of Bowser singing ‘Peaches’ or Optimus Prime ‘transforming’ into a new creation.
This is where churches decorate the entire building (or at least the lobby and sanctuary) with movie-themed accouterments, hand out popcorn and drinks, and in the case of Barbie week, ask congregants to come to church dressed in pink, where if they wish, they can do a Barbie-themed photoshoot.
It’s all so pink.
And of course, the requisite sermons. Unfortunately many of the churches will not stream them as they use so much copyright material with the video clips they show, but inevitably some get through.
When the bible isn’t enough, nothing is ever enough.
Exegeting? And here I thought I had finally learned English.
Hey it’s a new word for me too!
ex·e·gete
Verb
gerund or present participle: exegeting
expound or interpret (a text, especially scripture).
“I am able to exegete the scriptures in ways that make sense”
One thing I really hated about Barbie was how much pink there was. I really got sick of that. It was almost the color of pepto bismol. Yuck.
You’re not alone.
Me, too. Couldn’t even see a root word to start with.
I’ve seen some big billboards around the Twin Cities that say “come to our church for Jesus, Coffee, and Bacon.” This is worse.
Okay. Thanks.
Exe-Jesus?..................
There are three approaches to apologetics and polemics of Scripture:
1. Exegesis; discerning God’s intentions from Scripture.
2. Eisegesis; inserting personal feelings to make Scripture fit.
3. What-the-begesis; taking the text and inserting modernist insanity to insult Scripture.
not everything has to be part of the political debate, it’s just a fun little movie, everyone needs to calm down.
My favorite review of the Barbie movie is below. The reviewer actually makes the case that it may be an Accidental “anti woke” movie.

It looks like a word Greek in orgin.
The Greeks love their “X” es.
I didn't see it. I'm not the audience for it. It's aimed at young girls.
But I guess it's nice that a girly movie is full of pink. It reinforces the traditional gender notion that "Pink is for girls. Blue is for boys." And that the two are different.
These days, one should be thankful when a film reinforces simple normalcy.
Oh, I haven’t seen the movie, and don’t intend to go. I was commenting on how much pink everything there is in Barbie “gear”. It turned me off a long time ago. Who drives a pink car? Barbie and the Mary Kay ladies, that’s it. I hate pink when it’s so in my face.
My priest did a homily on Sound of Freedom. He was discussing how the sexual revolution and the pride revolution is leading towards the sexualizing of children.

Then I won’t mention “Eisegetical”.........
:)
Yep.
Referring back to my post; “ex” can mean removing or drawing out.
“Eis” is to push or insert in.
Critical Drinker hated Barbie.
